About the home

Nestling in the beautiful, secluded cove of Port Gaverne, Green Door Cottages and Tregudda Self Catering Apartments, all rated 4* by VisitBritain, offer a tranquil haven to enjoy your self-catering holiday in Cornwall.
Owned by the National Trust, Port Gaverne is a sheltered inlet on the North coast of Cornwall that has a small sandy beach at low tide, rock pools and caves, cliff walks with magnificent views and stunning sunsets.
Upper Tregudda is the top floor of a 4 bed apartment, benefiting from a south, sea-facing balcony with spectacular panoramic sea views from all of the windows.
The large bright living room leads to a fully equipped kitchen and separate dining room. A balcony wraps around the front of the apartment with sun loungers and garden furniture from which it is possible to look out onto Port Isaac bay and headlands over a glass of breakfast orange juice. Access from the living room, dining room and master bedroom, via French doors, makes this balcony a prominent extension of the building, - great on a summers evening for watching the sun setting over the sea. especially in the summer.
The bedrooms and bathrooms (one en-suite) branch off a carpeted corridor leading from these communal areas and all provide a relaxing and private space away from the activity of the main living areas. Parking is available immediately outside the property and a set of winding steps lead up to the main entrance. The Cornish Coastal Path leads up the back of the property and brings you out on the top of the hill giving access to the dramatic headlands and makes for a perfect evening stroll. Alternatively the pub with a garden and bustling atmosphere is only at the bottom of the hill.

The most prominent advantage of Venus cottage is its marvellous sea views via a balcony and full-length French doors, from the open plan living/kitchen/dining area. The balcony overlooks the pub garden - great on a summers evening for watching the world go by and the sun setting over the sea. The original beams add a touch of heritage to the cottage. The stairs lead to the bedrooms and bathroom. Through the double bedroom a patio door leads to the sheltered courtyard garden with a slate terrace, ideal for sheltered sunbathing and relaxing. Both bedrooms have patio doors leading out to part of the pub's beer garden. Parking is conveniently available in a private car park nearby. Childrens sand-pit in courtyard garden, surf boards, fishing nets & croquet set.
OS maps of the local area are available - enjoy amazing walks along the coastal path just meters from the cottages/apartments. Newspapers/milk can be delivered. Recycling facilities nearby.

Within less than a minute, you are on the North Cornish Coastal Path - miles of spectacular National Trust owned coastline, famous for its wildlife and scenic beauty.
Directly opposite Venus Cottage and just down the hill from Tregudda, is our local, The Port Gaverne Hotel, an early 17th Century Inn. The restaurant specialises in local produce, particularly sea-food. The comprehensive bar menu is available to guests - delivered to your door
Half a mile up the road is picturesque Port Isaac - a charming fishing village, where Doc Martin is filmed, and home to the folk singers "The Fishermen's Friends", who still enjoy performing on The Platt during summer evenings. Explore the pottery, art galleries and restaurants or visit the inshore RNLI lifeboat station. The maroons are frequently sent up during the year, and you can watch the lifeboat being launched. Port Isaac is still very much a working fishing village with catches landed and sold in the Port Isaac fish cellars each day. You can buy Cornish pasties baked fresh in the local bakery and discover Squeezy Belly Alley and many other delightful back streets.

Within 15 minutes drive - surfing on fabulous Polzeath beach, cycling on the Camel Trail from Wadebridge, sailing at Rock. Eden Project - 45 minutes drive.

Facilities

Further details outdoors:
Access to Upper Tregudda is via a number of concrete steps which turn a corner half way up. Parking is in the driveway outside the property.The garden is a level grassed area to the front of the property looking directly out to sea and drops steeply away at the end of the garden. There is some fencing at the end of the garden but there is a pathway and steps leading directly down to the road which are down a steep slope. Access with a car is up a very steep and narrow slope (to the left of the Port Gaverne Hotel). The driveway is adjacent to the garden with no fencing between. There is good external lighting which is activated by movement sensor at night.
Venus is situated on one corner of the shared courtyard garden which is made up of a level grassed area with flower borders and a childrens sandpit. It is south facing and very sheltered and private. Wooden garden furniture and sun loungers are provided. Pathways are made mostly of random slate paving. There is a small step down to the grassed area. There is external lighting in the courtyard which is lit automatically during hours of darkness.

One third deposit payable on booking, balance due 8 weeks before your holiday.
