The apartment enjoys lake & mountain views from the garden, perfect for 'al fresco' dining or sunbathing. This one bedroom terrace apartment has an open plan lounge, dining & kitchen area, a double bedroom and double sofa bed in the open plan living areas. (Double bed can be twinned).
The residence enjoys a wide range of facilities, such as a private beach, large outdoor swimming pool, sun-beds, attractive park grounds, a cycle path winding through the whole complex, mini-golf fields, a children’s play area, main reception, on-site hairdresser, Italian restaurant, internet café & bar, conference rooms, on-site parking, laundry room, linen hire as well as tennis & cycle hire, all very close by.
The town centre of Porlezza is within close proximity to Porto Letizia and the local supermarket conveniently close by. There is also a good selection of local Italian restaurants to sample and then you can end the evening, walking along the beautiful lakeside boulevard. Porlezza is just 12 km, over the mountain pass from Menaggio on Lake Como and is on the scenic route to the town of Swiss town Lugano. Porlezza is the principle town at this Southern end of the Lake in Italy and adds an Italian flavour to a well known Swiss name!
Just above Porlezza is the village of Carlazzo which is close to the nature reserve surrounding "Lake Piano" and which has a rich and ancient history. With a castle of its own and medieval fortifications, this village was once well protected. As with most towns and villages around the lakes, they have a heritage steeped in religion. Churches and monuments abound and this region is no different. The Church of St. Giorgio in nearby Gottro, is well worth a visit just to see the Romanesque Bell Tower. Other churches to visit include St. Stefano which houses a famous organ made by the Serassi family in 1858. Serassi is one of the most famous families of organ builders in Italy and Europe and have been organ building art for six generations from 1720 to 1895 - their name is synonymous with quality, music, Lombardy and Porlezza! Visit the small village of Castello, close to Loggio & Porlezza. Built on a rocky spur, it has a fascinating maze of stone houses, narrow streets and small flowering balconies everywhere you look - there is also a great view of the surrounding area & Lake Lugano to enjoy.

The Lombardy / Lake Como Area
Lake Lugano is situated in the south east part of Switzerland and is located on the Switzerland and Italy border, most of Lake Lugano lies in Switzerland, the lake is named after the city of Lugano that is situated between Lago di Como and Lago Maggiore. The two lakes, Lake Como and Lake Maggiore cover a much larger area that Lake Lugano, the most interesting feature of Lake Lugano is it's shape, it's a long lake about 36 kilometres in length but the width of the lake does not exceed more than 2 kilometres at any point, also Lake Lugano is the only lake that has a bridge over it that connects the two towns Melide and Bisonne.
Lake Lugano is surrounded by beautiful hills and mountains, the area experiences a climate close to that of the Mediterranean climate, the beautiful mountains, surrounding villages and towns together make Lake Lugano the perfect holiday destination. Some of the interesting mountain peaks to visit near Lake Lugano include Monte Bre and Monte San Salvatore, Monte Bre is the closest to Lugano and is about 925 meters high, the mountain stretches over the border of Switzerland and into Italy.
Tourists can enjoy beautiful views of Lugano at the kale and the surrounding mountains, you can reach the mountain by the funicular railway, Monte San Salvatore is another surrounding mountain peak and is about 912 meters high, this mountain too can be reached by the funicular railway which starts from Lugano Paradiso. Monte Generoso is a favourite tourist destination near Lake Lugano, the mountain is 1,701 meters high and is located on the south east shore of Lake Lugano.
The Museo Cantonale d'Arte is a must visit place for art lovers, the museum has beautiful paintings by Dugas, Klee, Renoir, Jawlensky and many other great artists, the Hesse Museum in Montagnola is an interesting place to visit for music lovers. April to June is the best time to visit Lugano, during this time the town is buzzing with activity and enjoyment of the Lugano festival, all through the festival evening concerts are held, famous directors and soloists from all over the world attend the festival and participate in the concerts. June to July is the time of the Jazz Festival of Lugano.
In July there is the Campione d'Italia Fireworks display in the small Italian enclave of Campione, Campione is situated on the southern shore of Lake Lugano and there are special boat cruises from Lugano to view the spectacular site from the water. An annual car show and auto exhibition called Auto Nassa is held in May every year, people attend the show at the Via Nassa shopping district in Lugano.
Porlezza area
.Porlezza, sits on the Eastern shore of Lake Lugano, and like all the towns in this area benefits from a wonderful microclimate that allows a wonderful growth of verdant foliage almost to the tops of the mountains. In winter the tree line is high and although the greenery has lost its leaves in autumn you can still see the how high the trees reach. Because of this and the easy access to mountain trails, the region is very attractive to hikers, walkers, photographers and the outdoor enthusiast. Apparently there are even naturist areas for the more adventurous......
Porlezza is a typical medieval town with a number of baroque works important locally for their artistic content. Monuments worth visiting are the Romanesque oratory of St. Maurizio and St. Maria dei miracoli (16th century).
Porlezza is in the region of Ceresio in the North East region of Lake Lugano. Although not as important tourist destination as either Lugano or Porlezza it provides a lot of advantages as a place to rest, recuperate, philosophise, hike, walk, fish and even down the road in Lugano, shop!
To see how to get there, (visit our map page) you can get there from Switzerland or from Italy. From Italy take the Statale Regina to Argegno and then go through Val d'Intelvi, or approaching from Menaggio take the junction up over the pass to Porlezza.
