The Lombardy / Lake Como Area
Porlezza is one of the pearls of the Lombardy region (NOT Emilia Romagna). Situated on the banks of the Italian side of Lugano Lake, at the heart of the beautiful Valsolda Valley, it is a charming small place in a marvelous setting.
Living in Porlezza allows you to enjoy both Italy and Switzerland at the same time. From spring throughout the autumn the surrounding mountains are green and flowers blossom all around. Hikers & cyclers are welcome to explore the flora & fauna and admire the views. Churches are scattered all over the surrounding mountains, and sun bathing is available within walking distance. In the summer you can enjoy the warm days, as well as the cool breezes during evening times (our apartments are all air-conditioned).
Lake Como is a short traveling distance (only 12km), and tourists can enjoy tour around the ancient towns to absorb the medieval charm.
Porlezza area
Porlezza - with its picturesque houses, red tiled roofs and its old church tower is situated in the lakes area at the north of Italy – by the pristine Italian Alps and on the banks of Lake Lugano. The town is tranquil, yet bustling with livelihood. Around the old city centre are many cafes and restaurants, and along its streets are little appetizing delicatessens, bakeries and charming little shops. A lively market takes place in the streets every Saturday and in the summer there is a weekly fair of antiques and handcrafts.
The town's unspoiled surrounding area is rich with outdoor activities (available in both of Italy and Switzerland). Travelers can enjoy going trekking, excursions with mountain biking on the surrounding mountains, horse back riding, golfing (in Menaggio) or simply walk peacefully amidst the picturesque old towns, scattered in between the mountains.
In Switzerland, we highly recommend visiting the beautiful elegant city of Lugano, to stroll along the lovely wide boulevard along the lake, the grand marina, the museums, the fashionable posh boutiques, fancy cafeés, gourmet restaurants, and even visit the marvelous casino. Attractions are widely available for children and adults alike.
How to get there
Porlezza is just 15 - 20 minutes drive from Lugano to the west, whose airport offers connecting flights to Zurich, Frankfurt, Paris and Rome. It is possible to commute between Porlezza to Lugano with public transportation via Como city by bus or fairy, as well as rent a vehicle and drive there. It is also possible to fly into Milan's International Airports (Malpensa/Linate/Bergamo), from which there are frequent trains to Como City (The journey takes only 35 minutes from Malpensa/Linate).
Our apartments are located amid the old quarter and cars are not allowed to enter this peaceful area. However, public car parks are only 3 minutes away by foot.
Public trasnportation to points of interest in the area is widely available.

Guestbook
Polezza was fantastic and we enjoyed every minute of our holiday in your apartment. Barbara was a lovely lady and met all our needs. The apartment was beautifully appointed with all that we required. The central location made us feel quite a part of the historic region and we enjoyed purchasing our produce from the local stores.
As you know we discovered Porlezza and your apartment over the internet. My family and I have travelled extensively and Porlezza would feature high on the most beautiful areas we have been. We would love to return there someday to explore the region further. The location was brilliant for a day trip to Lugano, Switzerland, where we went on a magic lake cruise. Regards, Sharon
We arrived back Sunday night. Everything was just great. We enjoyed being in the flat and felt quite at home there, you certainly thought of everything to make one’s stay comfortable. Porlezza is lovely, and it was so easy to go places. The weather was warm with cool breezes. It was nice to come back to the flat in the late afternoon, to open the windows and feel the cool breeze. We have come back feeling good and relaxed. Hazel and Stephen.
