The Tenerife region
Tenerife is known for its eternal spring-like climate. It is a volcanic island with lots of contrasts - the north is very green and much cooler than the sunny rocky south. Mount Teide (3718 m) towers above the national park Las Canadas and a fantastic rock formation which has to be seen to be believed. There are beaches of black or golden sand, 6 golf courses, scuba-diving, animal parks, mountainbiking, fishing, boat-trips, horseriding, camelriding, windsurfing, go-karting, paragliding, night life, quiet life , international and british restaurants and and and ...... It is also a duty-free zone.
Poris de Abona area
Poris de Abona is a small fishing village with a beautiful natural bay, fisher boots, lighthouse and 2 beaches. There are typical canarian restaurants and bars, supermarket, hairdressers, bank, chemist, doctor and manicure/pedicure - but no tourism. Along the promenade you can watch the anglers trying their luck. There are two beaches and a mole for sunbathing and direct access into the clear sea. The climate is particularly healthy here with strong breezes, sea air and plenty of sunshine. Although the airport is only ca. 20 km away, there is no noise disturbance from the planes. On Sundays there is a small market on the village square with local people selling their own garden produce , plants, flowers and also home-made cakes and bread. On Saturday nights a Spanish band plays in the Restaurant Casa Blanca - the Spanish people love to dance SALSA and the Sangria is particularly good here. Within minutes you can reach the motorway and check out other well-known towns or beaches or take part in some activities. (brochures are in the house)
How to get there
Excellent value for money flights all across the UK to Tenerife SOUTH Airport (TFS). www.airparade.co.uk or www.flymonarch.co.uk. or www. cheapestflights.co.uk You can hire a car at the airport for 99 gbpounds for 7 days from www.autoreisen.es Take the motorway at the airport (autopiste sud) and drive in the direction of Santa Cruz and after approx. 20 km leave the autopiste at Exit 39 El Poris. Drive past the petrol station and at the top of the hill go right towards the village and the sea . The white villas to your left are your destination. At the bottom of the hill drive into the roundabout and back up the same road - turning right into the street just above Restaurant Casa Blanca.
