The Tenerife region

Tenerife is known for its eternal spring-like climate. It is a volcanic island with lots of contrasts - the north is very green and much cooler than the sunny rocky south. Mount Teide (3718 m) towers above the national park Las Canadas and a fantastic rock formation which has to be seen to be believed. There are beaches of black or golden sand, 6 golf courses, scuba-diving, animal parks, mountainbiking, fishing, boat-trips, horseriding, camelriding, windsurfing, go-karting, paragliding, night life, quiet life , international and british restaurants and and and ...... It is also a duty-free zone.
The Poris de Abona area
Poris de Abona is a small fishing village with a natural bay, fisher boots, lighthouse and 2 beaches. There are typical canarian restaurants and bars, supermarket, hairdressers, bank, chemist, doctor and manicure/pedicure - but no tourism. Along the promenade you can watch the anglers trying their luck. There are two beaches and a mole for sunbathing and direct access into the clear sea. The climate is particularly healthy here with strong breezes, sea air and plenty of sunshine. Although the airport is only ca. 20 km away, there is no noise disturbance from the planes. On Sundays there is a small market on the village square with local people selling their own garden produce , plants, flowers and also home-made cakes and bread. On Saturday nights a Spanish band plays in the Restaurant Casa Blanca - the Spanish people love to dance SALSA and the Sangria is particularly good here.
Within minutes you can reach the motorway and check out other well-known towns or beaches or take part in some activities. (brochures are in the house)

Guestbook for Villa Andiju
I stayed here with my husband and 2 children (aged 15 and 4) in August 2010 and it is the nicest villa we have rented. Beautifully cared for yet still homely with lovely gardens and plenty of space to relax. The pool is big enough to play around in with plenty of seating in both sun and shade. We ate every meal outside and quite often used the BBQ. The village is close enough to walk to with 2 supermarkets, a lovely weekly market, plenty of bars (full of locals) and some reasonable restaurants. There is a small park and beach and the sea is very clear and clean. The area is quiet and very convenient for the motorway to explore the rest of the isalnd. I would definitely recommend staying here.

A charming villa which is perfect for that "chill out" holiday, where a good book and a bottle of wine will totally relax you. With a choce of 3 terraces there is always enough space to find the sun, find the shade or just doze.
That's why we have been twice and are looking forward to our next visit.
The owners are very friendly and helpful who take pride in the villa, which makes it feel more like home that a rented property. The facilities within the villa are more than adequate and provide a functional living environment. The heated pool is perfect for that "quick dip" when it gets too hot.
The main local supermarket is well stocked and just down the road.
Whilst there are only a couple of local restaurants in the village these are rustic in nature and although not providing a huge range of dishes are "good fun" and very reasonably priced.
Would definitely recommend this villa as a place to totally unwind.

It was just the holiday we had been hoping for. The villa was so peaceful and well-kept and we really had everything we needed. It was lovely wandering around, trying the local delicacies, lazing by the pool and watching the sun rising over the clear sea at Poris.
We would love to go there again. Thank you.
