About this location
The Dorset region
Dorset is a county in South West England on the English Channel coast. The ceremonial county comprises the non-metropolitan county, which is governed by Dorset County Council, and the unitary authorities of Poole and Bournemouth. Covering an area of 2,653 square kilometres (1,024 sq mi), Dorset borders Devon to the west, Somerset to the north-west, Wiltshire to the north-east, and Hampshire to the east. The county town is Dorchester which is situated in the south. After the reorganisation of local government in 1974 the county's border was extended eastward to incorporate the Hampshire towns of Bournemouth and Christchurch. Around half of the population lives in the South East Dorset conurbation, while the rest of the county is largely rural with a low population density.
The county has a long history of human settlement stretching back to the Neolithic era. The Romans conquered Dorset's indigenous Celtic tribe, and during the early Middle Ages, the Saxons settled the area and made Dorset a shire in the 7th century. The first recorded Viking raid on the British Isles occurred in Dorset during the 8th century and the black death entered England at Melcombe Regis in 1348. Dorset has seen much civil unrest: during the English Civil War an uprising of vigilantes was crushed by Cromwell's forces in a pitched battle near Shaftesbury; the Duke of Monmouth's doomed rebellion began at Lyme Regis; and a group of farm labourers from Tolpuddle were instrumental in the formation of the trade union movement. During the Second World War, Dorset was heavily involved in the preparations for the invasion of Normandy and the large harbours of Portland and Poole were two of the main embarkation points on D-Day.
Dorset has a varied landscape featuring broad elevated chalk downs, steep limestone ridges and low-lying clay valleys. Over half the county is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and three-quarters of its coastline is a World Heritage Site that features notable landforms such as Lulworth Cove, the Isle of Portland, Chesil Beach and Durdle Door. Agriculture was traditionally the major industry of Dorset but is now in decline and tourism has become increasingly important to the economy. There are no motorways in Dorset but a network of A roads cross the county and two main railway lines connect to London. Dorset has ports at Poole, Weymouth and Portland and an international airport. The county has a variety of museums, theatres and festivals, and is host to one of Europe's largest outdoor shows. It is the birthplace of Thomas Hardy, who used the county as the principal setting of his novels, and William Barnes, whose poetry celebrates the ancient Dorset dialect.
Poole.-- seaport and market town, and co. in itself, Dorset, on a tongue of land on N. side of Poole harbour, 5 miles W. of Bournemouth, 30 miles E. of Dorchester, and 118½ miles SW. of London by rail - par. Poole harbour, an irregular inlet, 7 miles by 4½ miles, formed by the projection of the Isle of Purbeck, is one of the best harbours on the South Coast.
A great base for visiting areas such as Weymouth, Swanage, Bournemouth, Christchurch, the New Forest and also the Isle of Wight with ferries from Lymington.

"Excellent Value and Comfort"
I spent 3 days in this accommodation over the Easter weekend. It was clean, spacious, comfortable and modern. The owner is very friendly and efficient with her communication, and the accommodation was excellent value.
I would definitely consider rebooking this when next visiting Poole.
Thank you very much for your kind comments and I am happy that you had an enjoyable Easter weekend stay in my caravan.

"Brilliant caravan for families"
Our second stay here as so impressed last time. Lots of space in main bedroom for the travel cot too which you don't get in a lot of caravans. Has lovely balcony to sit out on of a night too plus deck chairs. Has everything you need and really close to main club and then also the beach. Definitely recommend as five star !

As our first proper family holiday (with our 15 month old toddler) the caravan was absolutely perfect! It had everything (and more) that we needed and our toddler was safe to roam around and enjoyed exploring! The weather was wonderful and we took advantage of the beautiful beaches and coastline. We didn't actually end up using any of the facilities that Rockley Park had on offer, but that was mainly because there were so many other things to do! We would highly recommend this caravan. Brilliant!
Thank you very much for your review. We are so pleased that you had such an enjoyable holiday and found the caravan met all your needs. We hope that you will book with us again in the future.

A lovely caravan spotless and great location, you wouldn't know you were in a caravan very roomy. We have a baby and the main bedroom was plenty big enough to fit a travel cot.
Site is lovely and treelined a few miles from Poole and the lovely beaches.
Will be back next year!

"A well equipped, clean and nicely presented caravan"
We stayed for a week with 2 young children, the caravan had everything you would need and situated on a quiet area of the site. The site is accessible for a lot of other areas and beaches and good walks in close to the site. We payed extra for access to the Haven facilities but spent most of the time at the beaches that it was really needed.
