SHELLSEEKERS
About the home
"Shell Seekers" has the ambience of a traditional seaside holiday home. It has a Beach theme throughout, right down to the Poole Pottery tableware, and the bathroom accessories.
It is 500 metres from the public slipway, and there are two local beaches, both 10/15 mins walk, and there is parking available at both. Rockly Sailing School is 5 minutes away, and Poole Quay only 10 minutes.
There is one bedroom containing a double bed, and another large bedroom containing two adult-sized sets of bunk-beds. All the beds and bedding are new. There is a tv lounge, and a sun-lounge, and a spacious kitchen-dining room to seat 6. A high chair is available.
At the front is an enclosed parking area for boats and cars, and at the rear there is a very large enclosed, sunny garden with patio area, apple and pear trees.
This year we have added a wooden playhouse which is proving very popular with our younger guests.
There is a shed containing loungers, BBQ, and garden toys. There is a traditional outside toilet.
The property is ideal for watersports enthusiasts, and particularly suitable for families with young children,
It is a place to relax and recharge your batteries, and you will be spoilt for choice at the range of activities and places to visit nearby.
If by chance the sun doesn't shine, there is plenty to do and see in the vicinity.

Dorset has beautiful beaches, as well as rugged coastline and rolling hills. It is steeped in history going back to the Jurassic period, you can walk the coast path and see all the geological changes that have happened over millions of years.
Good places to visit are Kimmeridge bay, (great for rockpools,) Lulworth Cove and castle, Corfe castle,
Swanage steam railway and you could visit Weymouth and Portland where the 2012 Olympic sailing events will take place.
For Thomas Hardy fans, you can visit his home at Bockhampton, and Corfe Castle where "The Mayor of Casterbridge" was filmed.
Bovington Tank Museum is a must, as is Monkeyworld, a fantastic project, and it has great playgrounds for the children as well as the monkeys!
The New Forest is only half an hour away, an area where you can walk among ponies, sheep and deer roaming free, and take in the serenity of the centuries old, untouched landscape. There are acres of walks and rides, and many lovely local pubs to refresh you.
The Poole area
Poole has the second largest natural harbour in the world, after Sydney, and it is
a magnet for nature-lovers, historians, water-sports enthusiasts, beachcombers and foodies alike.
There is something for everyone, no matter the weather!
Take a boat trip to Brownsea island for a day where you are greeted by the resident peacocks, and if you're lucky you will see a red squirrel, (these are protected here), and you can visit the first ever Boy Scout camp, there is a staue of Baden Powell on Poole quay.
Return to the quay with it's vibrant array of bars, restaurants and live music, and on Thursday nights there is a firework display adding to the lively atmosphere.
There are many shops there too, and you can visit the world famous Poole Pottery, and see work in progress, and even decorate your own pot to keep.
Stroll along the quay and feast your eyes on the Sunseekers, this is where they are made, and they are always a pretty sight!
Nearby, Tower Park is an entertainment complex, and for classical musc and theatre lovers, there is the Lighthouse in Poole centre, this is the home of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.
Sandbanks beach is one of the finest in the country, and from there you can get the chain ferry across to Shell Bay and beautiful Studland.
A great place to take the children is "Farmer Palmers" you can watch the cows being milked, feed the lambs and the play areas are amazing.
There are places to go fishing, or even scuba-dive for your scallops, or even easier, buy your fresh-caught supper from F Greenslade, just by the Channel Ferry.
What could be better than a beach barbecue watching the sun go down on Poole Harbour?

My family and i stayed at Shellseekers and we had a great time. The house was lovely, clean and included all mod cons. The location was perfect for us, 2 min drive from Hamworthy Park and 10min drive from Poole Harbour. The owner (K) was a real pleasure to deal with, happy to answer any questions and give any advice on places to go and things to do. We will definatley be going back to Shellseekers again in future. |

Staying at Shellseekers reminded me of my seaside holidays as a child, and it was lovely to see our children enjoying the same simple pleasures in this age of technology. The situation is ideal, with easy access to the slipway and beaches. it was very easy to launch our dinghy. We had a couple of wet days, but there was loads to do nearby. The Tank museum is great, and Tower Park has lots to offer. The decor gives the bungalow a real sense of holiday, it is spacious and comfortable, we found it very relaxing being there, and the garden is lovely too. We will definitely come back, it has everything we need for the best holiday. |

Stayed at Shellseekers for a week in September & found it to have everything necessary for a de-stress! Big garden for the dog, internet access, all kitchen equipment, very comfortable, clean & spacious. House is also in a good area with food pubs and shops within walking distance. Nice park and beach are minutes away. Easy to get to Poole harbour and beyond. Couldn't ask for more. |
