The Dorset region
Dorset is a very popular holiday destination all year round and is famous for its beautiful scenery, miles of sandy Blue Flag beaches and the Jurassic coastline to the west.
The nearby Purbecks and Swanage can be reached by car, bus, boat, bike or steam train. Chesil beach, Monkey World, Corfe Castle, Durdle Door and the New Forest are all a short drive away. Southampton, Portsmouth and Salisbury are easily accessible either by car or public transport and London is only two hours' drive away.
For those who want to travel further afield, there is a ferry service from Lymington, Southampton and Portsmouth to the Isle of Wight, which is famous for its coloured sands.
Canford Cliffs is an affluent suburb of Poole situated on the coast halfway between Poole and Bournemouth. It adjoins Sandbanks, which is famous for having some of the highest property values in the world. Canford Cliffs Village is less than 5 minutes' walk away and boasts many bars/bistros and shops. The nearest beach is at Flaghead Chine, less than 10 minutes' walk away, which is sandy and flat and leads onto Sandbanks beach to the west. The neighbouring waters are relatively shallow, making this a popular area for all types of water sports, especially wind and kite-surfing.
The property overlooks Parkstone Golf Course and although this is a private golf course, guest membership can be booked in advance for anyone who has a Handicap Certificate. There are numerous other golf courses in the area.
The South's finest privately owned historic gardens, Compton Acres, offering spectacular views over Poole Harbour and the distant Purbeck Hills, is a short stroll away and it is open to the public on a daily basis. It offers seven distinct gardens to wander around and enjoy, including the Italian Garden and the Japanese Garden. As well as its beautiful ten acres of gardens, there are shops, restaurants, a cafe and regular events. Compton Acres is fast becoming one of the most visited and prestigious family attractions on the South Coast.
Bournemouth town is just 10 minutes' drive away to the east and is an excellent tourist and regional centre for leisure, recreation, entertainment, culture and shopping. The award-winning Bournemouth Gardens surround the River Bourne in the town centre, and these host various events throughout the Summer. Bournemouth Gardens lead down to Bournemouth Pier past the Pavillion which, along with the nearby BIC, together host many popular musical concerts and shows to suit all tastes. Bournemouth Pier has been recently given a facelift and the immediate area has several cafes, restaurants and bars as well as various amusements and rides for children. There is a new seafront entertainment centre in front of the pier replacing the old IMAX Theatre which hosts a programme of outdoor concerts and entertainment. The Bournemouth Eye balloon offers a panoramic view of the entire area.
Poole town is a similar distance away to the north west. Poole harbour is the second largest natural harbor in the world, where you can take a boat trip to several places of interest, including Swanage and Brownsea Island. There is also a chain ferry at Sandbanks, which offers a regular service to Swanage taking less than 5 minutes, either on foot, by car or by bus.
The Sandbanks Beach Polo Championships will be held on 11 and 12 July 2015.
The Bournemouth Air Festival will be held over a period of 4 days commencing Thursday 20 to Sunday 23 August 2015.
Every Friday night in August at 10.00 p.m. there is a spectacular firework display beside Bournemouth Pier which can be seen from several nearby vantage points. Poole Harbour also hosts firework displays on a Thursday at 10.00 p.m. from 24 July to 28 August.
The area enjoys its own micro-climate, and as such benefits from some of the best and sunniest weather in the country.

"Happy days in Poole"
A lovely place to stay with great facilities. The hosts are very helpful and happy to help. If we were staying longer there may have been a couple of bits we would have brought to their attention, but nothing major. The garden is lovely and if you are an able walker easy access to the beaches.

"A beautiful apartment in a great location"
Really enjoyed our 3 week stay in Foxwood. Gill and Andy were most welcoming. The apartment was spotless and well equipped, and our garden area was secluded and ideal for enjoying breakfast on the patio. Quiet location yet only a 5 minute walk through the chine to the beach. Village like shopping centre and some great restaurants and pubs were within walking distance. Would definitely recommend and plan to return in the future.
Thank you very much for taking the time to review Foxwood as your comments are invaluable to other prospective guests in their decision-making. We are pleased you had a good time and that you had such lovely weather while you were here and really look forward to welcoming you back next year.

"First Class Accommodation"
Excellent accommodation with a lovely garden and view of the golf course. The apartment is located on the ground level of a beautiful house with its own separate entrance and is in a very quiet neighbourhood. Centrally located for access to other towns and villages and close to a bus stop for those without a car. The apartment had everything needed for a self catering holiday including a well stocked kitchen with utensils for those wishing to make there own meals. I highly recommend "Foxwood" as it met all my expectations.
Many thanks for your kind comments and we are really pleased you enjoyed your stay. We look forward to welcoming you back to Foxwood next year.

"Very comfortable and well located."
We stayed at Foxwood for 1 week, my husband and our 4 and 2 year olds. We were very comfortable. The kitchen is small, as described, but was perfectly adequate for breakfasts, making picnic lunches and a few simple dinners. The bathrooms are excellent, the beds comfortable. The garden was useful for our little ones, and well secured. The view of the trees was lovely. The proximity to the beach was great. Canford Cliffs is well located for supermarkets, and we used a few restaurants and a take away nearby, all were good experiences. There is loads to do in Poole, we intend to go back, when we do we hope to stay at Foxwood again.

Foxwood was in a lovely location, with beautiful views and very peaceful. It was an easy walk to the beach and there were plenty of places to eat within walking distance, as well as a variety of local shops to buy food. The accommodation was very comfortable, with lovely bathrooms and we all enjoyed our stay there very much.

We had a really enjoyable stay at Foxwood. Close to beautiful beaches and nice restaurants. Gill and Andy are an extremely friendly and hospitable couple. Three things put a bit of a dampner on our stay. The first was the kitchen. It really lacked utensils and the chopping board was terrible. Very old and unhygienic looking. I think the owners should cook a few meals in it and get a feel for what is missing. Secondly, the cat whined all night on our last two nights. The noise was terrible. Thirdly, was the bedding in the master bedroom. I decided to remove the bedding to sort of help with the general clean up. I was sorry I had as the quit was horribly stained. Overall though, an enjoyable stay. Taking into consideration the price of the apartment, I think these niggles should be sorted.
We are pleased that you and your family enjoyed your holiday at Foxwood and thank you for pointing out the shortcomings to us. We always encourage guests to discuss anything they are not happy with straight away so that we can hopefully put it right. Since your stay, we have increased the quantity of kitchen equipment and replaced the plastic chopping board (which was new at the beginning of the season) with a glass one. We are sorry to hear you were kept awake by a whining cat - we were completely unaware of this and cannot understand the reason why, but can assure you that this is not a common occurrence and unfortunately is beyond our control. The duvets are professionally cleaned each year, but some staining unfortunately remained to one of them, and this duvet will now be replaced for next season.

"Luxurious Garden Flat in Canford Cliffs"
The flat is spacious and comfortably furnished with TVs in both bedrooms and the lounge. There is private access to an attractive garden with table, chairs and loungers. The en-suite bathrooms and separate bathroom with spa bath are extremely luxurious with plentiful hot water. We were surprised that the kitchen, although well equipped, is small in relation to the other rooms and has no windows. It is really only big enough for one person (or two very good tempered people!) It is a short walk to beaches, local shops and public transport. At the end of our first week the flat was thoroughly cleaned, fresh towels were provided and the beds made up with clean linen. The owners live in the house and were extremely friendly and helpful.

"FABULOUS HOME/ FABULOUS AREA AND WONDERFUL OWNERS"
We went to England (from Fort Lauderdale, Florida) in February for our daughter's wedding. My husband, John, being originally from the area knew exactly where he wanted to stay. Boy---Was he right!!! Foxwood was an immaculate warm, cozy spacious home with a beautiful view of the Golf Course from the back yard. The rooms were perfectly appointed and the bathrooms were just gorgeous, all in the best taste. I loved the heated towel racks in the bathrooms. As a bonus, the weather was great. We definitely plan to stay there on our next trip to The UK and would highly recommend this home to everyone. Thanks Gill and Andy.

"A great place to stay"
Brilliant bedrooms and bathrooms. Lots of space and well furnished. Location was brilliant, a 10 minute walk to the local shops and nearest beach. Kitchen was a little small, but had everything you need.

"Spacious apartment, tranquil garden, lovely owners."
Couldn't fault anything with this property, beautifully furnished, well equipped, very clean and spacious. Children loved the whirlpool bath and the flat screen television in the second bedroom. Only a short walk to the lovely village of Canford Cliffs with numerous cafe's, though they didn't look very child friendly with elegant ladies and gents sitting outside sipping coffee, Loch Fyne on the other hand went that extra mile with the children and we enjoyed several relaxed well catered meals there. Beautiful beaches nearby and lots to do in and around Poole. Cant wait to go back.
