The Brittany region
Manoir Le Cosquer is in the Cotes D'Armor region of Northern Brittany and close to the coastlines of Goelo and Granite Rose. These coastal areas are truly stunning and have miles of unspoilt sandy beaches, coastal pathways, small fishing ports, seafood restaurants perched on cliff edges. Adults and children can go crabbing, collect shells, wonder around the markets and villages, visit unspoilt islands, take a boat trip to the 7 Isles or walk the pathway at Ploumanach.
In Pommerit le Vicomte you can visit the Church which is protected by French Heritage together with its Millennium tree!
The nearest town is Pontrieux a medieval village famous for its 50+ lavoirs which can be visited by boat and is a village with protected status by French National Heritage. It has won awards nationally for its flower displays and has the prestigious classification as a 'Petit Cité de Caracter'. It also has one of the oldest running steam trains in this area and clients can take a days excursions up and over the valleys to Paimpol - a great day for all the family.
Pontrieux has a good variety of small shops, art galleries, pavement cafés and restaurants, a super wine merchant with a lovely boutique and really everything you need within easy walking distance of your house!
There is a weekly market, lots of local festivals and expositions and many places to visit locally. Why not start by visiting 'Le Chateau de la Roche Jagu' a wonderful castle dominating the estuary and its super gardens. Other places of interest nearby are The cathedral in Treguier, La Place du Centre in Guingamp. Sandy beaches, small fishing ports and some spectacular coastline and walks are within 15 minutes away. Try Paimpol, Treveneuc and St Quai de Portrieux for seafood.
Within 30 minutes you can visit the Tregomeur zoo, the theme park Amoripark, the island of Brehat, Ploumanach and Perros Gueric part of the Granite Rose coastline.

"A lovely place to stay, and perfect hosts"
We stayed for a week - three families, all with 2 year olds. The house was perfect for all, space to enjoy time together, or to be more private. Bedrooms were well spaced so that all the children had their own rooms but still close to their parents. Everything that you needed was in the house, including stuff for the children in the garden. The hosts were amazing and were always on hand with advice if needed. We had a great time and would like to go back. Only downside, no heated pool for the adults to play in ... but we knew that when we booked.
We quite agree - it's ideal here for family and friends' holiday get-togethers and thank you for your kind comments. The outdoor pool does warm up as the summer goes along but can be a bit chilly at the beginning of the summer season - brave children can still enjoy it though!
We look forward to welcoming you back next year, who knows we may well have worked out a bit of pool heating for you!!

"A blissful house that suited all ages."
We travelled as a large family party of 12 plus toddler, the oldest guest being a sprightly 90. The house is beautifully situated down a long drive and has large gardens, a lake with ducks and large fish, all safely fenced . The rooms are very spacious and comfortable downstairs and upstairs the bedrooms are on one side modern and well appointed and suited the older members of the party. In the older part of the house the rooms were quaint, authentic, beautifully painted in earthy colours with original features ,wonderful fireplaces.....but excellent plumbing! All en-suite .... The family were friendly but unobtrusive, but always around to help if needed.
Horses , cats , a goat, and a Muscovy duck .... All delightful.

"Beautiful old house deep in peaceful Brittany countryside"
We had a wonderfully relaxing week here to mark a family celebration with ages ranging from 15 months to 90. This magnificent old farmhouse is full of rustic charm but has all the modern amenities, and the games room and children's playhouse and swings were an added bonus - as was the small menagerie of ponies, cats, a charming goat called Buddy, and a calypso parrot. The well stocked village store with French bread and wine is just at the bottom of the drive and open 8am to 8pm. Beautiful coastline is not far away, and the long sandy beach at Binic is spectacular. Warm thanks to our helpful hosts, Alison and Mauro.

"A wonderful relaxing week"
The Manoir is a beautiful and very old manor house just outside a small village in northern Brittany. It is about 1.5 hours from StMalo ferry terminal and an easy drive - we found it very easily. The village is quiet and pretty with a large store (huit a huit), a newsagents, pharmacist, vet and most importantly, a bakery. Our kids just loved walking into the village to buy fresh pain au chocolat each day (about five mins away). There are a number of towns with markets / nice restaurants within 15 mins drive and there are several beaches within about 20 mins.
Alison and Mauro who own the Manoir are an English couple with two teenage daughters. They live next door and whilst they never intrude, they were always there if we needed anything. In fact we got along extremely well and our younger daughter spent hours playing with their kitten! The manoir is large and the type of place ideal for a big extended family or a group of friends. It is very peaceful but with lots to do for children and adults alike (slides, swings etc for children, lots of outdoors games for adults and children and a mini gym if exercise is your thing!). There was also a swimming pool (one of those temporary ones not permanent). Indoors, the large living room had a huge fireplace, a large TV with UK sky and a DVD player. Lots of board games and well stocked bookshelves too.
The bedrooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. There are several options in terms of fold out beds if you have lots of children. The kitchen is extremely well equipped with washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher, large fridge and a wine cooler. There is a large dining room which I think seats 18!
Whilst renting the Manoir may seem like a lot of money to find, you really can fill the place with a lot of people which would be very good value. I am already booking for next year. We cannot thank Alison and Mauro enough for their warm hospitality.

"Wonderful place to stay, charming, great friendly hosts and we booked for a great meal which was excellent"
The indoor area was a great bonus for the children and adults with the gym area, games & table tennis. Great park area at the back of the manor with lots of space and room for ball games, relaxing & walking.
It is a very well located manor, easy to get to beautiful sandy beaches and other places of interest such as Treguier, Paimpol, the chateau de la Roche Jagu, the island of Breat and the pink grant coast of Ploumanach.
All the bedrooms with private bathrooms, spacious reception rooms makes this the ideal place for family reunion.
The great advantage is that the owners are there on site and very helpful.

"Spacious and charming manoir in a great part of France"
The manoir is a fine old house in a very nice part of Brittany. It is well equipped and in easy walking distance of a traditional village with all amenities. It's a great place to go for all ages, with loads to do for children and teenagers (and grown-ups!). In particular, the beaches are lovely, as are the little towns. Our hosts were really nice and helpful without being at all intrusive. I can really recommend Le manoir for a relaxed and fun holiday.
