Home description
The accommodation is an essential alpine retreat with exposed wooden beams and Italian tiled floors. The apartment is comfortably furnished with a cosy log fire and all the fittings needed for an enjoyable evening after the days activities. The living room has French windows leading onto a covered south-facing balcony with breath taking views of the surrounding countryside. This house is in a great location for either summer or winter breaks: with fantastic Alpine skiing in the winter and magnificent green landscapes in summer. The apartments are on the edge of the village only 500 metres away from the Adamello national park and only 300 metres away from the village centre and is virtually traffic free so is really safe for children. Right outside the apartments are fields ideal for playing in the summer or building a snowman or tobogoning in the winter.
NEW FOR 2007/8. We now have a second apartment available directly under the first apartment this is similar to the first one but does not have the exposed wooden beams but it has a much larger covered balcony with outdoor furniture and sun beds.These two apartments are ideal for 2 families or friends wanting to holiday together { sleeps 12 in total }

The North East Italy / Veneto region
WINTER .When the snows come the area is transformed into a frozen playground and because of the altitude the snow is guaranteed from December to late April and skiing and other winter sports can be enjoyed. The ski area has been increased and the link between the resorts of Temu,Ponte D'Legno and Passo Tonale were completed in December 2006.This now gives about 120 kms of linked ski/boarding. The new lifts are either quad chairs or high speed gondolas and of the 30 or so lifts we only have 5 drags mainly for beginers.The nearest ski lift to my village is in Temu, an easy 5 mins drive away or you can get a ski bus on the main road 300 metres away opposite the excellent Alpine pizzeria/bar.The ski area Ponte D'Legno-Temu is ski/boarders paradise with many runs for differing abilities and all amid stunning scenery through the forest . The runs are all quite long and the pistes are all very well groomed and have 100% coverage with snow making facilities when needed . This area is then linked with Passo Tonale via a new gondola lift and this then gives a large number of piste options for all grades of skiers/boarders . The longest run is now around 10 kms from the glacier { the glacier is open for ski/board from September to June ] right down to Ponte D Legno.Look on www.adamelloski.com for the ski map etc and you can see the new link with Passo Tonale .Also on this web site you can see we have many cross country tracks and for none skiers other facilities including ice rinks,skidoo hire,snow shoe hire {for people wanting to walk in the national park } and we also have a dogsled school half way between Ponte D Legno and Passo Tonale where you can go on a course to learn how to dogsled with the beautiful huskies. The ski/snowboard school in Ponte D Legno is renowned and caters for complete beginers to advanced. There is also a ski kindergarten in Passo Tonale.Also in Ponte D Legno we have a new indoor/outdoor sports centre opposite the new indoor swimming pool and some nice shoping in the car free streets. Apres ski is also quite lively with bars/wine bars and disco's in Ponte D Legno and for a quieter time bars/pubs/restaurants in Vezza D Oglio.
CHRISTMAS & NEW YEAR. For those of you lucky enough to be here at this time you will not be disapointed , the villages are all traditionally decorated and in front of the church we have an enormous Christmas tree. On christmas eve at around 23.00 hours the haunting sound of the bells from the village churches fills the air beckoning people to midnight mass ,its worth a look even if you are not a church goer to mingle with the people in the square just to sample the atmosphere and try some hot mulled wine and fresh roasted chestnuts [ all free of charge ]. Then listen to the carol singers, all very romantic and traditional. The Italians know how to enjoy new years eve this is one of the main events of their year. The whole day is special and in the evening its a must to be in Ponte D Legno at around 6 pm as there is a huge firework display usually in front of the main ski lifts, this is spectacular and lights up the surounding mountains. In all the villages at the stroke of midnight and to the sound of popping champagne corks you would think war had broken out there are fireworks everywere and the partying really starts either in the streets or the bars and usually goes on till morning , not to be missed.
SUMMER. The area is ideal for a summer activity break or just relaxing in the sun.From the apartments you can enjoy walking/ hiking on the many marked trails in the national park Adamello which starts around 500 metres away. Here you are free to roam where ever you like and enjoy the stunning scenery /picnic areas { many which have BBQ's } just take your own charcoal.You will find water falls ,lakes,mountain steams and wildlife including eagles ,deer etc. Mountain bikeing is also a major pass time and bikes for kids/adults are available to hire in my village at the Anna sports shop.Again have a look on www.adamelloski.com for the summer activities in our locality and www.bresciaholiday.com for the whole area.In Ponte D Legno we also have a 9 hole par 74 golf course which because of its height is only open from 1st June to 30 September but people say it takes ages to get round because of the stunning location.I New to my village is the Adamello adventure park [ www.jungleraiderpark.com ] set in the forest just across the river 500 metres away , its a park set in the trees with rope walk ways cable slides etc The main walk way is set 10 metres above the ground so is not for the faint hearted and there is a lower walk way for kids to age 12 at 2 metres above the ground. In the summer months the villages have many activities going on including outdoor concerts/sports etc Just ask at the excellent tourist office in Ponte D Legno.Lower down towards and around Lake Iseo we have water parks and many outdoor pools and water sports [ boating,fishing etc ] Next to the town of Borio Therma { healing thermal water } is the Archaepeligo park ,this is a recreation of life of the earliest settlers and cave dwellers and includes a spectacular cave.Also in the village of Capo D Ponte is the graffiti park, which is now a UNESCO site { early settlers etchings found on the rocks } . This is just a sample of the many things available to do in the area. You could also try white water rafting just over the boarder in trentino county [ if you dare }
AUTUMN. This is a lovey time of the year ,often sunny but with cooler nights and warm days, great for walking and bikeing and the forests are a riot of colour. The high mountains are often covered with snow so is really picturesque so great for photography or artists.The summer crowds have gone and the area is very peaceful, great to unwind !.
Ponte D' Legno / Passo Tonale area
The area is a mecca for for outdoor types with many activities to be enjoyed from simple walks along the streams and alpine meadows to the more energetic extreme sports . This is all available amid stunning scenery with many 3500 metre mountains. The Village is a typical Alpine farming community and the focal point in the central square { 300 metres from the house } is a wounderful church built circa 1800 . We have many small shops selling local produce { bread ,milk cheese etc } and numerous bars/Pizzerias and restaurants all within walking distance or the many facilities in the larger resort of Ponte D Legno 9 kms away or Edolo 10 kms away.
How to get there
The nearest airport is Milan/Bergamo where many flights from the UK and Europe arrive. The main airlines are Ryanair and Jet2 as well as Alitalia. Car hire is { Hertz are good } needed and the drive to Vezza D Oglio takes around one and a half to two hours.
