The French Riviera - Cote d'Azur region
Perched villages, fields of lavender, tiny out of the way restaurants and bars just waiting to be discovered, winding streets with pretty shops and art galleries - we are sure you will soon have your favourite.
This little seaside resort is snuggled at the foot of a very tall cliff - a wonderful place to stroll about with its picturesque fishing port lined with cafes and restaurants. Take a boat trip and explore the famous calanques that go all the way to Marseille.
AIX EN PROVENCE
Aix is a city of art - home to art schools and several universities attracting a youthful population which sparks the atmosphere. The Cours Mirabeau is the heart of Aix - a beautiful tree lined avenue - if you sit at only one French sidewalk cafe outside of Paris it should be here where the air is warm, the light sublime and the sidewalk alive.
Cite des Papes - City of Popes There are seven entrances into the city through the superbly preserved walls. The Palace of the Popes was built in the 14th Century and overlooks a lively square - not too far away is the famous Pont d'Avignon. The annual theatre festival between 10th July and 5th August brings the streets of Avignon alive with strangely dressed actors. The two tier carousel in the main avenue is a hit with children - young and old!
This is just a taste of what this region has to offer - we love it and we hope you will too. Plenty of guide books and information available in the villa but of course feel free to ask us in advance for any specific recommendations.
Pont Royal's origins date from the XIII century. Le Moulin de Vernegues, a 17th century manor house (now a beautiful hotel and restaurant) located within the Domaine once used to mill grain for the Archbishop of Arles. The centre of the village complex in Pont Royal is a short stroll from our villa and has been beautifully designed around a church, in the style of an old Provencal village, with lots of attention to detail - stone steps through arched walkways lead to small village squares with cafes flanked by fountains, pine trees and terracotta pots filled with flowers. The main square has restaurants, a tapas bar, souvenir shop, wine cave and delicatessen and during the summer months there are twice weekly markets selling local produce, fashion and crafts. There is a whole range of on-site activities, including children's clubs and play areas as well as sports and plenty of entertainment to keep the adults busy too! There is an additional charge for some of the activities which can be booked at the main reception area - during peak times advance booking is advised.
GOLF: The world renowned 18 hole championship, designed by Seve Ballesteros, is a Par 72 and extends over 6,300 metres. It is one of the most highly rated in the South of France - rated 16/20 in Peugeot Guide of Top 1000 Golf Courses in Europe! A Masters event is hosted on the course in October with European Professionals and is open to the public. The excellent facilities include Pro Shop, Clubhouse, Bar and Restaurant which is open to non members. A new 6 hole golf course opened in June 2010 - including a practice range of 260 metres with 42 mats, 12 on an upper level. The new course includes one par 4 and extends over 930 metres. This new course is directly by our hamlet, less than 5 minutes walk away and has a small clubhouse serving cold drinks.
SKIING: Gap is 90 minute drive from the Domaine - Pra Loup is within a couple of hours drive.
Mallemort is a pretty village and the closest to Pont Royal. The main square has a weekly market and there are shops, restaurants (particularly the Auberge du Vieux Village - booking recommended, it is busy throughout the year), bars and banks. Climb up the winding streets to the viewpoint at the top of the village and visit the large and very ornate graveyard which definitely boasts the best views.
Fully detailed visitors book available in the villa with lots of ideas of places to go including recommended restaurants and activities.

"Beautiful, well priced accomodation"
Stayed here with my husband and one of the first things I noticed about this property was how well equiped it was! It was like a home away from home with cookery books dvds and even wi-fi available to use!
The property is located in a secured and enclosed site: meaning that we always felt really safe in an area we obviously didn't know too well!
There is tons for children to do (I plan on bringing mine back in the coming year!) Swimming pool, farms and a playground area!
Local shops are only a short walk away: Croissants and pain du chocolat are never far away!
The owners were very helpful with suggestions of places to visit, and tips only locals would know (i.e. restaurants and local markets!)
We visited a small village called "Fontaine de Vaucluse" which was simply beautiful
I would definitely recommend this to my friends and family, I'm already planning my next trip!
We are delighted you enjoyed your holiday and felt at home. We try to ensure that we add extra touches to make your stay a happy one and look forward to hopefully welcoming you - and your children - back again soon.

"A little bit of French paradise!"
Everything you could ever want from a holiday - beautiful setting, close to gorgeous markets, a choice of pools and friendly, helpful staff amongst Pont Royal.
This is a really stunning little house which the owners have obviously put a lot of thought and attention into to ensure it feels just like a home from home.
We could not have been better catered for and it hopefully won't be too long until we are back again!
Exactly what we hoped to achieve - a home from home. So glad you had a happy holiday and we look forward to welcoming you back very soon. Debby

"The perfect French getaway!"
This beautiful little house was absolutely perfect for our short (but very sweet) visit. I just wish we could have stayed longer! The house is secluded enough to feel private, but without being in the middle of nowhere, with lots of friendly people about. The pool is practically on the doorstep, which is such a treat, especially in the glorious sunshine! The interior is light and bright, but still feels very cosy, with lots of homely touches and decorated beautifully. The place was incredibley clean, and obviously very well looked after. The open plan kitchen/living area works perfectly in the evening for cooking and relaxing, as does the terrace - perfect for evening drinks! The owner provided everything we could think of, from pots and pans, to games and even a DVD collection. There was also loads of great information about the local area, which led us to some really fantastic spots we would not have found otherwise. This property would be brilliant for a family holiday, or a break for two like we did. I have never come away from a holiday feeling so relaxed. I can't wait to book my next stay!
Thank you for the lovely words - come back soon! Debby

"perfect relaxing break with family"
On the 3rd June 2012 we escaped the rain in the UK and returned to the idyllic surroundings of Pont Royale in Provence. It was so relaxing to be amongst the beautiful countryside and feel the warmth of the sun. We immediately felt at home entering the bright, clean and airy villa. Being somewhat 'picky' in my choice of accommodation, it was lovely to see the villa maintains its high standards of cleanliness and amenities. It is so tastefully decorated with a real feel of 'Provence'. There have been additions to the extremely helpful location guide giving great inspiration for places to visit. On such recommendation we took our two children aged 12 and 10 yrs to St Remy to the Van Gogh museum which we all loved. Its quiet serenity really helped us picture Van Gogh at work and understand a little more of him as a man. DVDs of 'Dr Who' at the villa with the episode on Van Gogh was a must before we visited and the children came away really inspired! Our children are older now and so didn't need the fantastic collection of good condition- mostly new-children's toys provided at the villa, but there was still plenty for them to do- they loved the new play area in the village and we spent a day at the pools and waterslides- great fun! The local pools specifically for the villa remain well maintained and we had them mostly to ourselves! We enjoyed eating in, enjoying watching the sun go down- and the moon rise over the mountains whilst eating on the terrace. The local market at the Pont Royal village and neighbouring surpermarches and village shops provided excellent local produce and the array of cookery books at the villa inspired us to try and eat 'french'! Thank you for such a lovely week- just what we needed – with all you provide to make the stay so comfortable, we felt so relaxed and didn't want to leave! We will return soon !
It was lovely to be able to welcome you back to Pont Royal and we are delighted to hear that you had such a happy holiday. We look forward to you all visiting again in the future. Debby and Frank
