An ideal holiday destination in a truly tranquil setting and within easy reach of a host of exciting leisure pursuits. The house benefits from a huge living room with a large stone working fireplace,modern upright piano (tuned!) french windows open onto a south facing terrace with garden furniture and barbeque. Separate games room with table tennis and darts. Ground floor: Three twin bedded rooms and bathroom with shower. First floor: Spacious double bedroom with en suite bathroom with separate shower room Very close to pretty villages with a range of excellent shops, markets and restaurants. Plenty of fine country walks, riding stables, tennis courts and golf courses very closeby . We are one hour's drive from the Normandy landing beaches, 30mins. from the fashionable beach resort of Deauville, and beautiful coastal town of Honfleur. Monet's garden at Giverny is an hour's drive. Paris is easily accessible by train (I hour 30 mins from Lisieux) The cities of Rouen and Caen are also less than a hour's drive away.

The Normandy / Calvados region
The pays d'Auge is renowned for its production of cider and calvados. There are large distilleries, but still plenty of small producers you will discover as you drive around the region. There are numerous small farmers markets, and plenty of good local cheeses (Camembert, Pont l'Eveque and Livarot). The weather can be excellent in the summer, and the spring and Autumn can be pleasant too, but less reliable than the southern parts of France.The D Day landing beaces and memorials draw many visitors to the region and have excellent museums. There is an excellent zoo five minutes away and the animals are all housed in large outddoor enclosures.
Pont l'Eveque area
Riding stables two minutes from the gite. Tennis courts, superb golf courses. Indoor swimming pool in Lisieux (15mins.) Deauville film festival(end of August) Pays d'Auge music festival throughout July and August (details on request). Excellent country walks (we have good local maps and itineraries)
How to get there
Two and a half hours from Channel Tunnel (Calais).
Ferries: One hour from Le Havre terminal (Portsmouth). One hour from Caen- Ouistreham terminal ( Portsmouth).
Airports: Deauville 30 mins., Paris, Charles de Gaulle two and a half hours.
Train: Lisieux (Paris St Lazare) !5 mins.
