We have stayed in many gites in France over a number of years and this is one of the best we have seen. Although it is in a rural setting it is a very modern property. It is extremely spacious both inside and out - much more so than it seems on the photos on the website. We found it to be very clean and equipped with everything that we needed. Bedding and towel ready for us on arrival. The English owner is very friendly, helpful and easy to contact. (However the french housekeeper doesn't speak ANY English, so we had to brush up on French very quickly!) You need to be organised with getting provisions as there is no shop close by - it is a fair drive to any amenities, along single track roads in some cases. There is plenty of off road parking. The large lawn provided a great boules pitch or somewhere to sit for some evening sun. We also had lovely evening walks up the road to the fields where the farmers were working or a walk down the hill into the village to play pooh sticks in the stream.A bonus was the fact there is no TV - I didn't think it possible but life can go on without a TV! We didn't venture far - Lisieux, Honfleur and Pont Audermer were about as far as we went but that was our choice. Having 2 young children they were happy to play in the garden. It would be quite easy to do more sight-seeing if so desired - Rouen, Bayeux, Caen etc This gite provided us with exactly what we needed - a base for a lovely relaxing holiday! |
