Close to Jonzac and Saintes is only 15 minutes away, & Cognac with all the brandy tours only 40 minutes away. Lots of local facilities to keep you occupied, from horse riding and go karting within the immediate area, to the further towns of Royan, Bordeaux and La Rochelle.
Huge games room with pool table, table football, 3 plasma TV's in the property with sky television. The property has a newly installed 8 x 4 above ground pool fitted August 2010. The beautiful quiet wide sandy beach is only 25 minute drive away, the nearest one being at Saint Georges De Didonne, and Royan beach being a little further away at 40 minutes drive. There are a couple of gorgeous little Marinas, one with Canoeing and boating at Port Maubert, some 15 minutes away, and a gorgeous one at Mortagne Sur Gironde only 15 mins away, where there is a selection of lovely little marina-side, bars and sea front restaurants with a large selection of seafood and other foods.
The house is on a tiny village street, overlooking the little church, and is surrounded by sunflowers, tobacco, and maize fields and grape vines as far as the eye can see, and a lot of local walks in the immediate village to take in the stunning surrounding countryside. Many vineyards in the region too. If peace, quiet, and privacy are what you seek, then this property is perfect for you.

There is a lovely al fresco decked dining area in front of the house in the private front garden with beautiful tile sconces that allow you to light the candles in the garden at night, scattered all around the garden. A very ambient exterior which makes full use of the south facing position so gets the sun all day from sunrise to sunset. Very peaceful quiet little village. Nearest village shop a mile away, and nearest supermarket, 3 miles away in Pons. Car essential to get around.
We request a £200 damage retainer deposit due the very expensive nature of some of the furnishings, which is fully refunded within a week of your leaving the property once the cleaner has been in to inspect the inventory and condition of the property. If all is well and nothing of any value broken or damaged, then the full damage retainer would be refunded to you straight away. If something expensive is broken then we can come to some arrangement over how much would be retained to pay for that item. We are not fussy. We would only retain a portion of the damage retainer, if any of the larger items were damaged or broken. The smaller items come under general wear and tear and thus we can write those off and not deduct anything from the damage retainer. Photographic evidence of any major breakages would be reported/provided to you as evidence of any major breakages so you could see for yourself if we did need to retain any of the damage deposit. But this is highly unlikely.
All bed linen and towels are of the highest quality, being finest percale and cotton, and these are provided and already at the property ready for your arrival. A holiday deposit of £250 per week is required at the time of booking to secure the reservation. In the event of you cancelling your booking, I am very sorry, but we cannot refund the deposit. This is a business, and as such, we may have turned away other potential interested holiday rentals to service your holiday at the time you wanted to book, and thus we cannot refund the deposit if you choose to cancel. If we have turned away other potential rentals because we had been saving specific dates for your reservation, then I am very very sorry, but we cannot refund the deposit paid. Obviously in the event of ill heath or something similar then we would review the situation at that time if you had to cancel for health reasons etc.
Dogs are allowed at the property so long as we have been informed they will be with you, in the booking, and so long as they are well behaved and house trained dogs, and under the strict understanding that they are not allowed to sleep on any of the furnishings ever. We make a small additional charge of £15 per dog, purely to allow for the extra cleaning involved in ensuring the house stays dog hair free for other people to use. It takes the cleaner a little longer to tidy/clean up after dogs, due to their malting habits sometimes. We like well behaved dogs, but they must sleep on the floor, or your own dog basket that you bring with you, and strictly not on the sofa's/beds or soft furnishings.And if your dog should happen to defecate in the garden, then this must be cleaned up straight away on account of children use the property too, and thus it becomes a health hazard if people do not clean up after their pets in the garden. This is essential. The cleaner will not clean up dog poo.
The Poitou-Charentes/Vendee region
The property is situated in the area known as the golden triangle. It is the second sunniest region in France, after provence and the Var Region. Temperatures regularly reach high in the 80's in summer.
The location of the property being only 20 minutes from the sea, means it has the best of both worlds. Whilst being situated in a quiet, tiny little rural village, surrounded by sunflowers and vines, but yet close enough to hit the beach for the whole day if you wish.
There is a fabulous little restaurant only a mile away in the next tiny village of Champagnolles. The restaurant is called La Vielle Poste. We can highly recommend their food, but book early because its usually quite a steady little place. Open every night except Monday and Tuesday. Their food is amazing. We have a lovely beautiful decking area in the garden with outdoor table and chairs, garden chairs, sunbeds, barbeque etc. Lots of lovely walks around the property and local village. And the local wine producer, Monsieur Douceaux also runs tours around his wine distillery strictly by request, by phoning first.
