The Paphos District
The nearby Akamas National Park is renowned as an area of outstanding natural beauty its coast lined by unspoilt beaches and clear blue waters where the crowds have still not discovered. The unspoilt surrounding countryside and villages offer you the chance to taste the real Cyprus.
Cyprus has a very ancient history with many sites available to visit all over the island; the Polis - Paphos district include The Baths of Aphrodite, The Tombs of the Kings, The Amphitheatre at Curium and the Mosaics at The House of Dionysos plus much more.
A trip into the Troodos mountains visiting Stavros tis Psokas to see the Moufflon and then onto the Kykkos Monastery or just to enjoy the fabulous views in the Cedar Valley is well worth the time.
Pomos area
Pomos is a quaint fishing village located on the west coast of Paphos, 20 kilometres from Polis centre and approximately 60 minutes from Paphos International Airport. The scenery of the Pomos region is spectacular due to the dramatic contrast from lush green mountains home to pine and Cypress trees, wild flowers, fruit trees and water melons growing wild.The Pomos beaches are a combination of sand and stone and appear black in colour with many rock pools ideal for exploration and fishing. As yet untouched by commercialisation therefore the pace of life is typically Mediterranean and relaxed. The small harbour of Pomos is the central focal point of local life with fishing boats laden with nets and the "catch" of the day. Next to the harbour is a long stretch of beach with cliffs to one side offering shade and protection from the wind To the right of the harbour is the fish Taverna called Kanali which is renowned for excellent fresh fish dishes. The small village centre offers a choice of restaurants, a coffee shop, supermarket and bank.
Every September Paradise café located in Pomos is host to the International Cyprus Jazz Festival.
A twenty minute drive away is the town of Latchi and its marina where you will find an abundance of fish restaurants serving the "catch" of the day. Latchi is also a centre for watersports and day trips to the beautiful Akamas Peninsula nature reserve. There are plenty of uncrowded beaches at Latchi to provide a truly relaxing day. For golfers there is the Tsada Golf Course approximately 30 minutes drive from Latchi, or alternatively within an hours drive you will find the Secret Vally Golf Club or the Aphrodite Hills Golf Club.
