The Cornwall region

The North Coast of Cornwall is an area of outstanding natural beauty with some of the most beautiful sandy beaches in England, perfect for all ages, be it a bucket and spade holiday or a surfing, sailing, windsurfing or kite surfing trip. Dramatic coastal walks, and the SW Peninsula Coastal Path are also on the doorstep. Ideal for walkers, while bird spotters will be delighted with the numerous sea birds, migrants and resident peregrine falcons. The area is also endowed with numerous quality golf courses, such as the championship St Enodoc links course.

It is a beautiful place to visit all year round, known for its sunshine and mild climate.

There are so many interesting towns and villages to visit such as the famous fishing village Port Issac (where the TV show Doc Martin was filmed), the amazing Eden Project, the beautiful Heligan Gardens, the National Maritime Museum at Falmouth, the Tate (and other) galleries at picturesque St Ives, and numerous historical sites such as King Arthur's Tintagel and the city of Truro.

Polzeath is an award-winning seaside village with shops, cafes and restaurants. It is known for its excellent surfing, with safety ensured by the lifeguard patrols on the beach. There is full equipment hire, as well as surf schools for beginners to advanced. For a quieter beach day, take the short walk to Daymer Bay (popular with families), and if you have spare energy, climb Brae Hill for breathtaking views. Then there is famous Rock with its sailing and water skiing on the Camel estuary. And let's not forget the quality local golf courses.

Padstow is also only a pleasant walk and ferry away, or a short drive. Why not go there for lunch and meander home along the beach - Rick Stein's eateries are all excellent, but also try Margots or Paul Ainsworth's No 6, not to mention the numerous hostelries where local brews such as St Austell's can be sampled. There are plenty of good village pubs to explore, together with other excellent restaurants in the area. Another great day can be spent cycling the Camel trail stopping off at cafes, pubs or even Camel Valley Vineyard along the way. Bikes for all ages can easily be hired from Wadebridge or Padstow. Why not try a tandem! And if you want to be pampered, try The Scarlet south of Padstow - you can combine it with a meal at Jamie Oliver's Fifteen at Watergate Bay.

"Perfect holiday home"

A wonderful week at The Haven, the house was exceptionally spacious for 8 of us and the facilities were great. Having an en-suite in every bedroom was a definite bonus. Great location within 5 min drive of Polzeath where the kids enjoyed the surfing. Also close to Padstow, great ride on the ferry, and Port Isaac, for all the Doc Martin fans. for the more energetic there are plenty of walks from the house. a bit further afield is Bedruthan Steps, one of our favourite beaches with a fantastic café owned and run by The National Trust.

"Great week, great house"

The Haven is an excellent comfortable base from which to explore Polzeath and the many other local places of interest and those further afield in Cornwall. It is part of a private estate on a complex including a decent 18 hole golf course, health club, restaurant etc. The house is large with four good sized twin bedrooms, all with their own decent sized ensuite rooms. One of these rooms is downstairs which was ideal for my elderly mother and aunt. All of the beds are comfy. The house is well equipped and everything works! There is loads of car parking space and there is a garage useful for storing golf clubs/surf boards etc. Visit Watergate Bay and Jamie Oliver's Fifteen restaurant there if you can. The Waterfront restaurant in Polzeath is also excellent, as are the breakfasts at the golf club on site! Mobile phone reception patchy but available within 100 yards or so, and there is a landline you can use for incoming calls.. Email and wifi works well throughout house. Would have no hesitation using this property again

"Spacious, comfortable, spotless & a great location - deal for a family holiday"

My husband and I have recently returned from a family holiday spent at The Haven. We found the house to be spacious, comfortable and warm and the four large bedrooms all en suite which is really handy when you are part of a group. The kitchen was extremely well equipped and spotless. The house is set in a lovely garden which is quiet and relaxing. We thought the location was great and the beach a short walk away through a golf course. We really enjoyed our stay and hope one day to return - we also appreciated the free wi fi.

"Polzeath great place, house great facility will be back"

I have been Comming to polzeath for many years; the surfing, cycling the camel trail enjoying a bottle of fizz at the camel vineyard, padstow and the seafood restaurant, beach volley ball golf and more. The Haven was the best house we have stayed in so far being all en suits there was no need to draw straws for bedrooms and ample space if you wanted to do your own thing. The house is immaculate and felt like a home from home. Pleanty of crockery and cutlery to so you were not constantly having to recycle bits. The weather was good so we spent a lot of time on the patio BBQing

"A lovely house in a lovely quiet location"

With four large bedrooms, all en suite, this was a perfect house for three generations. The large kitchen, diner, sitting room and conservatory ensured ample space for everyone on rainy days. Fortunately we were blessed with fine weather for the latter part of our holiday and were able to use the lovely garden and barbecue. The area was extremely quiet, which suited us very well, and we enjoyed some excellent meals at the golf club. We would be happy to return to The Haven.

"A perfect base for a Cornish Holiday"

Our whole group was pleasantly surprised by the 'The Haven', we knew it ought to be good but it exceeded our expectations. There is plenty of space for all and having an ensuite to every bedroom and a family bathroom was ideal. The house is well appointed and has excellent facilities which made our stay very enjoyable, even the weather played its part and we were able to make use of the barbecue and outdoor furniture on several occasions. Polzeath beach is only a few minutes drive away and Rock with its ferry to Padstow being a 10 minute drive. Basically 'The Haven' is ideally located for exploring the north Cornish coast line.

"Great large family or group holiday home"

We visited during August and were lucky to have excellent weather all week. Our group consisted of two families of four and we found the house was perfect and suited our needs very well. Lots of space, very clean and everything we needed was easy to find and use. The clubhouse/sports centre has a very good resturant and is just 5 minutes walk away. The local beach at Polzeath is great for kids and body boarding / surfing. Good local walks and the foot ferry to Padstow from Rock is a nice trip. Highly recommended!

"Fantastic holiday home"

The Haven is a spacious well apponted house with 4 large bedrooms all with en suite. We were an adult party but it would also suit families. The beds can be used as twins or moved together to make a double which gave good flexibility. Loved the proximity to the beach and caught the ferry over to Padstow to enjoy the excellent restuarants, shops and art galleries. The garden at the Haven is private and was great for a BBQ. We had lovely weather but could see how cozy the stove would be in the living room during colder weather. The open plan kitchen/dining area was great for a group with a large table for convivial suppers. It was all tastefully decorated and well equipped. We will definitely be back for another visit.

"The Haven certainly lives up to it's name"

In summary, this is a super house in a great location, ideal for a break for family or friends. The Haven has a lovely, peaceful atmosphere and is decorated tastefully in seaside colours. Communal areas are well laid out for socialising, yet the house is spacious and all rooms are en suite, so you can still have your own space. The Haven is ideally located for exploring Cornwall and offers something for everyone. Various stunning coastal walks are on the doorstep, yet the amenities at the Club are close by and laidback Polzeath, which is a short walk away, has a fantastic surfing beach with a cluster of shops and cafes. Padstow is a short drive away or a walk just far enough away to build up appetite for lunch at one of Rick Steins eateries! We have returned to the Haven several times, and hope to return again in the future.

"A very spacious house with great facilities in an incredible location"

This was the sixth or seventh stay at the Haven. We have visited at all times of the year and we recommend this property to anyone looking for the perfect retreat "to get away from it all", The layout of the house allows people to have their own space as well as having a big communal kitchen/dining area perfect for 8/10 for meals together. Its' proximity to Roserow Golf Club and Spa is excellent, however the ability to walk into Polzeath or a longer walk into Rock (for Padstow) along the beach/cliffs is a favourite.
