The West Country / Cornwall region
The beautiful rugged coastline of Southern Cornwall, combined with its rich history, makes this area of the West Country a fantastic holiday location.
If the walks and beaches of the immediate area around Polruan are not enough to keep you busy during your stay, then Polruan is ideally placed for visiting the many attractions nearby including the Eden project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan, and the Monkey Sanctuary, as well as some of the other pretty towns and villages nearby, such as Lerryn, Lostwithiel, Looe, Polperro and Mevigissey. If you fancy venturing further afield, then Truro with its impressive cathedral is worth a visit, and the Northern Cornish coast is only an hour away, meaning the delights of Padstow and the surf of Watergate Bay are all within easy reach!
Polruan area
Quayside House is located down on The Quay in the unspoilt village of Polruan, on the Southern Cornish coast. The village nestles on the eastern side of the mouth of the river Fowey, with the fashionable town of Fowey across on the other side of the estuary.
Polruan offers guests two good pubs, the Lugger and the Russell, both of which also serve food. There is a grocery store with a good stock of basics, a small café, and the Winklepicker shop, which sells a wide variety of holiday essentials including ice cream and rock and which also houses a sub Post Office. There are some stunning walks around the village, on to the old blockhouse, up to the cliffs, and on to Lantic Bay to name but a few, and the views around the village over the estuary and out to sea are truly breathtaking.
Take the quick, easy ferry trip across the river and you can enjoy all Fowey has to offer, with some great shops and restaurants, as well as more beaches and a great cove for paddling and swimming down at Readymoney Cove.
