Access to Island House is from The Warren, part of the South West walk, and is situated just 2 minutes level walk from the main part of the village, with its variety of shops, galleries, pubs and restaurants. The area is peaceful and traffic-free, therefore the only sound you will hear is the sea.

The West Country region

So much to do. So little time!........

With it's warm, temperate climate, sandy beaches, sheltered coves, picturesque fishing villages and historic harbours, no wonder the Cornish Riviera is one of the most popular holiday destinations in England.

Sheltered from the Atlantic sea providing a dramatic setting for the far West, the Southern coast has breathtaking valleys which sweep down to the sea, luxurious gardens and sleepy fishing villages nestling in quiet sandy coves. Whitewashed cottages and narrow streets lead down to the picturesque harbour in Polperro.

Down the coast to Fowey and Falmouth, you can enjoy the most beautiful waters in Cornwall. The Cornish Riviera is the perfect base from which to take advantage of a wide variety of wonderful attractions. Cornwall has some of the finest beaches in the UK and in Europe.

Polperro

Polperro is a picture book Conservation Village with narrow, winding streets, cottages perched on steep slopes overlooking a tiny harbour.

There are beautiful views, interesting shops, and superb pubs and restaurants. Much favoured by artists & photographers alike. It has been the site for many a film. Truly an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty!

The Village retains all of its 17th century architectural charm and is still a working fishing port, an activity which is believed to have been around, uninterrupted, since the 13th Century.

Polperro achieved great notoriety in the 18th and early 19th centuries due to the enormous amount of smuggling taking place around the Port. A visit to the Polperro Heritage Museum, will provide much of the history.

There are many breathtaking walks along the cliff paths which form part of the South West Coastal Path - the perfect base for many coastal activities such as walking, bird watching, botany and exploring nearby bays, coves and beaches.

Polperro is undoubtedly one of the prettiest villages in Cornwall, the stunning harbour is sheltered by a cliff famed for it's dark history of smuggling.

As you walk the narrow twisting streets, with ancient buildings and old fishermen's cottages jumbled together, following in the footsteps of smugglers, who moved under the cloak of darkness, the past envelopes the visitor unashamedly.

The picturesque harbour is unrivalled, perhaps one of the boat trips on offer will tempt, whether it's fishing or a pleasure trip and the possibility of seeing basking sharks and dolphins.

Polperro is a captivating legacy waiting to be shared.

Cornwall enjoys short winters and the Polperro climate is generally mild all-year-round.
