The West Country / Cornwall region
Sandy beaches and stunning coastal walks of the North and South Cornish coasts are easily accessible.
The fishing village of Polperro is a short walk away and the port of Looe is only a short drive away (2 miles), with its family beach, diving and deep sea fishing trips. There are many good restaurants and old traditional pubs to visit in both places
August Hill is also a great centre for those who enjoy walking and rambling with the outstanding coastal path only a 5-10 minute walk direct from the lodge. South East Cornwall is steeped in history with a concentration of historic churches - some over 1000 years old – with the Celtic influence still very evident. As well as the spectacular views on coastal path you can enjoy walking in scented pine forests or on the moors. Wherever you go walking there is usually a welcoming Inn at the end of your journey.
Bodmin Moor, with its miles of beautiful rugged moorland and magnificent granite Tors, is ideal for walking and horse riding and has a wealth of prehistoric remains

Arrived with my partner and extended family to a warm, friendly welcome from the owners, Sandra and John. Sandra spent a lot of time showing us round the lodge, making sure we were comfortable before leaving. The cream tea and wine enhanced our early impressions which were already high. The lodge itself is extremely well equipped with all the gas and electricity included in the price. There were a number of paperback books available to read and swap or take home if we did not finish them in time. It was a lovely warm lodge with lovely little extras, coastal walk maps and a varied amount of DVD's available to watch in the evenings, with everything you could possibly need to make it a carefree holiday. The area itself is stunning, the coastal path is a short distance from the lodge and takes you to Talland Bay and Looe to the east and Polperro to the west. We walked for miles enjoying the rugged coastline and visited many local welcoming pubs for lunch, the Crumplehorn in Polperro being particularly friendly with outstanding dishes and a wonderful Sunday lunch. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed both the lodge and the area and we will definitely be revisiting the lodge very soon. |

From booking to leaving on our last day, this holiday experience just couldn't have been any better. A fantastic welcome from Sandra on our arrival started us off for a wonderful week. The lodge is secluded at the end of a small group of seven lodges. Being at the end means we had no-one walking past and was very private and quiet - a lovely surprise. We are a family of 4 with 2 children aged 12 and 8, and we all enjoyed a perfect holiday. When us 'aged parents' wanted quiet time in the lodge, the children were happy to play on/in the available facilities, mainly in the swimming pool. Talland Bay beach is a great place to spend the whole day. It has two beaches really with a sandy beach as well as many rocks/rock pools for exploring. The coastal path between Talland and Polperro is outstanding and not too difficult a walk. Talland beach and Coastal Path are just a short walk from the lodge. Polperro is a lovely old fishing village with many eating and drinking places suitable for all ages. The weather was 'changeable' but such was the variety of choice in things to do within such a close vicinity that every day was enjoyed to the full. We cannot compliment highly enough the standard of this lodge with everything that we needed just being there, even to the extent of having books, games and videos for all ages, including some very useful ordnance survey maps for walking the Coastal Path and elsewhere. We will definitely be returning and recommending to our friends. |

We were greeted with a warm personal welcome, complete with wine and cream tea, by the owner and found the lodge was exceptionally well equipped for all our needs. It was lovely to have all the bedding and towels included in the price, saving an immense amount of luggage. Best feature was the location, one of only seven lodges in a secluded setting but close to all amenities. Only a short walk to access the coastal path to Polperro, Talland bay and Looe. Only down side was the rain during the week !!!!! |
