About the home

Penlowen provides affordable eco-friendly holiday accommodation for families and couples who wish to enjoy Cornwall's coastline. We value hospitality and personal touches are important to us. The accommodation is scrupulously clean with quality bed linen and fresh flowers. We can make your holiday easier by arranging for a meal to be ready for your arrival. Why not order a selection of local produce to be delivered before you arrive? If you fancy indulging yourself, why not book an aromatherapy massage or a facial?

The living accommodation is light airy and has views of the coastal path and out to sea. The room has a bookshelf well stocked with books and things to do. The TV has SKY and connects to a DVD or VHS and there is a library in the main house with a good variety of DVDs. WiFi is also available. The accommodation is reverse-designed and has an upstairs loo as well as a downstairs shower room.

The property has the advantage of secure on-site parking for up to two cars.

Upstairs
The living area is light and airy and includes a dining area and a large window with views out to sea. There is a variety of books and games, SKY TV and a free DVD rental service. There is a stylish wood burner for those cosy nights in.
Upstairs Loo.
The kitchen is well equipped with a Belfast sink and a small table. A highchair is available.
The second bedroom has two single bed and a pull out bed with a single mattress. There is also a travel cot available.

Downstairs
The main bedroom is light and airy, has a king size bed and sea views.

The downstairs shower room has a shower, loo and sink.

The property is located next to the main house and has the advantage of driveway parking for up to two cars.
The garden and patio is a great place to eat and relax. There is an outdoor dining area with sea views and children are welcome to use the adventure play area but supervision is required. The garden is spacious and a great place for guests to play games or watch the chickens. We grow our own vegetables, some of which may be available to guests. We are involved with coastal conservation groups and can provide guided walks, rockpool rambles, edible wild food forays and information about local events.

The West Country / Cornwall region

South Cornwall, a secluded and beautiful part of the West Country, is the perfect retreat at any time of year. South Cornwall holidays offer a true escape, the area’s isolated stretches of coastline are strewn with charming whitewashed villages. Visitors to Cornwall will be treated to dramatic scenery, from wooded valleys to jagged cliffs.

Penlowen is in an ideal location for visiting famous attractions, the Eden Project is only a 30 minute drive away and Falmouth, the home to the National Maritime Museum, is only an hour away. The Tate in St.Ives, LandsEnd or St.Michaels Mount can all be reached within one and a half hours. Closer to home, the famous Monkey Sanctuary is only a short drive and also has a fantastic restaurant with home cooked food.

If you fancy some exercise then make the most of the coastal path or inland walks on Bodmin Moor or Dartmoor. There are several golf clubs nearby with St.Mellion only 45mins away. There is horse riding and watersports within a 30 minute drive.

The nearest cities are Plymouth and Truro where you will find a great choice of shops and nightlife as well as ice skating, ski centre, bowling and cinemas.

The Polperro / Talland Bay area

Situated on the spectacular South Cornwall Coast in a largely unspoilt area of the South West, Penlowen is an ideal location to access the coastal path and an abundance of coves and beaches. The closest beach is Talland Bay, just a short walk away. The cove is steeped in history and, in the past, was frequently used by smugglers. The unspoilt cove remains a hidden treasure, and is ideal for snorkeling, swimming or relaxing on the beach. The beach cafe also hires kayaks and provides a selection of home-baked food.

After a ten minute walk down the hill you will reach the historic and picturesque village of Polperro. The quaint fishing village has narrow streets and whitewashed cottages. There are plenty of coffee houses, restaurants and pubs where you can sample the local fish and home cooked food. Whilst in Polperro, why not visit the museum, art galleries and model village or take a fishing trip or a boat trip to Looe or Fowey?
