The Mallorca/Majorca region
One of Europe's most popular holiday destinations for over 30 years Mallorca or sometimes written and pronounced Majorca is a Mediterranean island of stunning natural beauty. The reputation for cheap holidays and mass tourism came from the large scale developments on the island's south west coast. Some of those early resorts which remain popular today include Magaluf and Palma Nova.
More recently though, Mallorca has reinvented itself and concentrates on more upmarket tourism. Visitors are encouraged to explore the island's stunning coastline and beautiful interior.
Mallorca's north east coast has an enormous bay which is home to the popular resorts of Can Picafort and Alcudia. Nearer the island's most northerly point at Cap de Formentor is Puerto Pollensa which has always been popular with holidaymakers. This whole area is very popular with cyclists, walkers and birdwatchers.
The Serra de Tramuntana is the mountain range running parallel with Mallorca's north west coast. The terrain and mountain peaks are in stark contrast with the gentle east coast. It's a great idea to rent a car and heading out to Soller, Deia and Valldemossa to make a visit to the less well known villages inland.
Mallorca has something for everyone and the island will have you coming back year after year to try it all again!
Villa Es Coster de na Llusia is located between Pollensa and Alcudia very close to Puerto Pollensa.
Puerto Pollensa is situated in the north eastern corner on the island of Mallorca only 45 minutes from Palma. Once a small fishing port, now it's an elegant holiday destination in an unspoilt corner of a popular holiday island. Puerto Pollensa nestles in a natural bay, against a backdrop of rugged mountains, giving a particularly picturesque setting. There are stretches of sandy beaches and the wonderful 'Pine Walk' right alongside the seashore where bars, shops and restaurants provide an unbeatable combination.
Alcudia is an historic town with Roman and Moorish influences and Puerto Alcudia is a lively modern resort with one of the finest beaches in the Mediterranean.
