Home description
A gravelled driveway leads through wrought iron gates to a parking area, and from here there’s a pathway to a spacious covered terrace to the rear, with patio tables and chairs and overlooking the 10m x 5m pool. Conveniently nearby is a purpose built barbecue with a small porcelain sink, whilst beyond the pool is a large orchard of fruit trees where you can wander at will, until you find the right spot to sit in the shade and perhaps enjoy a juicy orange or pomegranate! Inside, the property is furnished and decorated in a charming, country cottage style with beamed ceilings, terracotta-tiled floors and dark wood furniture, complimented by paintings and decorative plates on the walls. A door from the covered terrace leads into a brightly tiled kitchen with gas cooker, fridge freezer and a number of marble work surfaces, below which are plenty of fitted cupboards and drawers in a rich mahogany, as well as a good old fashioned pantry for groceries.

The Mallorca/Majorca region
Mallorca Away from the island’s bustling capital Palma and the frenetic atmosphere of its nearby ‘high rise’ resorts, a startling change of pace and scenery takes over. Fertile fields dotted with windmills turning lazily in the breeze, give way to rolling countryside covered in olive and almond groves punctuated by vineyards and small, sun-bleached villages. Mediaeval monasteries and castles perch ‘quixotically’ atop pine clad mountains and look out over the azure sea that encircles the island’s 400 km of beautiful coastline, most of which is surprisingly untouched by signs of mass tourism and remains virtually unknown to all but a few of Mallorca’s many visitors.
Pollenca/Pollensa / Ternelles Valley area
El Pont Roma, the roman bridge on the edge of the town is living evidence of Pollenças Roman origins and subsequently each generation has left its mark without overwhelming this delightful small town. In this way, Pollenca has learned to accept and adapt to tourism without losing its soul and where, these days, at the vibrant Sunday morning market spilling out over the Plaça Major, locals and tourists alike mingle between the wide varieties of stalls. Wandering through the narrow cobbled streets you will find many lovely old churches plus numerous small art galleries and handicraft shops. A pause for coffee and a pastry is recommended before climbing the tree lined Calvari steps – there are 365 of them, one for every day of the year - amply rewarded at the summit by panoramic views across to the northernmost tip of the island from the Calvari church! If you are here during Easter, then you will be lucky enough to witness the moving procession on Good Friday, when a figure of Christ is removed from a cross and carried down the steps by torchlight. The months of August and September have much to offer music lovers as Pollenca hosts its annual classical music festival with many concerts and at any time of year, bon viveurs will find a number of outstanding restaurants as well as small tapas bar tucked away behind the impressive central square. Outside the town the rolling countryside is excellent for walkers and for a day by the sea, Puerto Pollença with its lovely beaches, is only a 5-minute drive away. Nearby there’s a good but hilly 9-hole golf course.

Further details indoors: A door from here leads into the L shaped living room with sofa, easy chairs and a coffee table grouped around the fireplace. Just around the corner from the sitting area and through a wide archway is the dining area, with table and chairs, plus an antique dresser and a convenient serving hatch to the kitchen. A tiled staircase from the lounge area leads up to a bright and spacious hallway with a door off to a lovely covered terrace with gorgeous views over the pool and towards the mountains. From the hallway, there’s a short corridor to a pretty twin bedroom with a writing desk next to a windowed alcove where you can sit and be inspired by the view and write a few postcards home. Next door is a smaller twin bedroom and then just across the hallway is the final twin bedroom, with a door to its own delightful terrace overlooking the pool. Also off the hallway is a full bathroom plus a further guest WC with wash hand basin, to limit queues in the morning. All the bedrooms have atmospheric sloping beamed ceilings and two have fitted wardrobes, whilst the smallest bedroom has a wardrobe in the hallway.
Further details outdoors: Outside, just beyond the covered terrace to the rear, is a further WC and next door to this is a washing machine in a small cubby-hole. Although we recommend car hire, if you like a stroll in the evening before dinner, we estimate that it is no more than a 15 minute walk to the main square in Old Pollenca, where there is a good choice of excellent restaurants. It is easy to get a taxi back for approximately 3 Euros. There is a TV with DVD player in the living room
