The Mallorca/Majorca region

The surrounding landscape is lovely with mountains to the north, woodlands to the east and agricultural land towards Sa Pobla growing potatoes, strawberries and vegetables. Towards Palma are almond, orange and olive groves. The north coast around Formentor has wonderful coastal cliffs and there are quiet sandy beaches a short drive away,

The nearby hill top villages with wonderful churches are fascinating and the local markets are well worth a visit.

Most visitors hire a car but there is a bus stop at Crestax church, a 5 minute walk away, with regular buses to Palma, Pollenca and Port of Pollenca. The bus to Sa Pobla connects with the new train line to Palma and Manacor.

Pollenca/Pollensa / Crestaix area

There are many places of interest closeby. It is 5 minutes drive to the traditional Mallorcian town of Sa Pobla with supermarkets, shops, bars, restaurants, internet cafe and lively Sunday market.

Pollenca, 10 minutes drive away, is steeped in history and close by there is a good climb up Puig Maria giving superb views of of Alcudia Bay. It is 15 minutes from the Port of Pollenca, a good shopping centre with opportunities for cruiser sailling, swimming and wind surfing.

Alcudia, 25 minutes drive is a larger and busier resort with a white sandy beach. There are night clubs and bars and plenty of facilities for the younger visitor.

Inca a short distance away is an interesting town with a range of factory outlets for shoes and leather goods.

It is only a short drive to the local caves, striking mountains, magnificient coastal cliffs and quiet sandy beaches. It is ideally located for sightseeing, walking and cycling. The island has many walking routes and hosts a range of rare and interesting birds and wildlife.
