The Paphos region
Paphos is the birth place Aphrodite the Greek Goddess of love and beauty and is entwined in Greek mythology and has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage sight because of all its ancient sights and history. Paphos Town has all the restaurants and night-life that you would expect from a modern tourist town but also offers access to be ancient cultural heritage sights and modern tourist attractions.
The focal point in Paphos Town is the picturesque harbour packed with yachts, pleasure boats and fishing boats. This is the place to come for morning coffee, lunch or an evening stroll. At night this area is bustling with activity and is a very pleasant place to eat and socialise.
Take the opportunity to explore the Troodos Mountains or the nearby Akamas Penninsula and Bath of Aphrodite (Goddess Venus), take in the scenery and aromas of the Cedar Valley and don't forget that camera.
There are several beaches within the district including the beach in Kato Paphos, Faros beach and the magnificent Coral Bay. These are best reached by car.

Cyprus is renowned for its nearly all year round sunshine and moderate temperatures in the winter months making it a popular year round tourist destination.
The Polis / Argaka area
Within a very short walking distance the Argaka village provides a selection of mini markets, a bakery, an Irish bar offering live entertainment and welcoming good value tavernas. Argaka offers the perfect location for complete relaxation with the advantage of being only a short drive away from the more lively Polis and Latchi. The unspoilt coastline and countryside offers an ideal location for exploration either cycling or on foot.
About 10 minutes drive from the apartment lies the small town of Polis with its attractive cobbled street and main square where it is a pleasure to linger with a cool drink and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. The town offers many restaurants, bars and cafes as well as a bank, post office, pharmacy, doctor, dentist, hairdresser, bike/car hire and many interesting souvenir shops and jewellers.
Just a few kilometers further west is the small town of Latchi with its attractive harbour/marina and well known restaurants serving a wide choice of food including many varieties of freshly caught fish. Sit in one of the harbourside restaurants/tavernas and just people watch. If you are feeling energetic try some of the water sports or take a trip on one of the glass bottom boats out along the Akamas Peninsula and see nature at its best. Take your swimming costume as the boat may moor in a wonderful cove to allow you to swim or snorkel.
For those who enjoy the game of golf the closest course is Minthis Hills (Formerly Tsada) Golf Club, Par 72 - 6,855 yards and located amongst vineyards, next to a 12th century monastery it is bathed in cooling sea breezes in the summer season. Minthis Hills is a challenging course which has an excellent club house, swimming pool with all changing facilities and is only about a 30 minute drive away.
For those who want to go further a field within an hours drive you will find the Secret Valley Golf Club, Par 72 - 6,737 yards. A championship course surrounded by stunning rock formations and mature trees.
**and**
The Aphrodite Hills Golf Club, Par 71 - 6,855 yards. Designed by Cabell Robinson another fine example of a championship course built on two plateaux which has spectacular views of the sea.
An exiting new project is currently being constructed (2.5km from our apartment) just outside the popular town of Polis. Two 18 hole golf courses are being built on a large area of land. Limni was a former copper mine and is now being converted into one of the premier golf resorts in the whole of the Mediterranean. The project starts by the sea, moving up a large valley and into the hills behind. One course will be designed by Gary Player Design and the other by Nicklaus Design. Limni Golf Resort will undoubtedly be in a class of its own. For further information on progress copy 'golf course development in limni cyprus' into your internet search engine.
English is widely spoken so there is no problem for first time British visitors to this beautiful island.

The apartment no. 96174, at Toscana Hills Complex in Argaka, Paphos was the best choice for our inland vacations as a family. If someone looks for relaxation, the location of the apt is the best. The flat was extremely peaceful and quiet and also the pool was always available and not crowded, while we were returning back from the sea-side. The apt is new (only 3 yrs ago the complex was built up) and its condition is excellent. Please mention that, we had an excellent cooperation with the owner and the local administrator of the apt. Also, it was clean, comfortable and with the necessary home equipment. Finally, the location of the apt is suitable for having excursions to many places around Paphos. I recommend the Toscana Hills and Home 96174 to everybody, especially couples with Kids. |

The apartment was all we'd hoped it would be, clean, space to move, and welcoming warm when we arrived on a wet January night at 7.00pm. Apart from one other couple we had the developement to ourselves, so it was very peaceful and quiet. We enjoyed being away from the "tourism" of Pathos, and walking around the village and the immediate area we got a real glimse of Cyprus and the people. With the Akamas peninsular and Troudos mountains being so close, there was plenty of time to explore them, and to enjoy the warmth of local hospitality and the January sunshine - even the rain felt warm after that which we'd left in Mid Wales. We enjoyed being able to have breakfast on the roof terrace in the morning sunshine, and exploring the restuarants in Polis for our evening meals. We'd certainly return for another "winter break" |

The apartment was clean and spacious. Away from busy roads and surrounded by fields. We really enjoyed the rooftop terrace which had amazing views. The swimming pool was nice with plenty of sun loungers. A few nice eating places and a couple of supermarkets close by. The long narrow beach was just a couple of minutes drive away by car. It's quite stoney but has some sand as well and was never crowded. We enjoy walking and found many interesting walks not too far away especially on the Akamas peninsula and the Troodos mountains. A very enjoyable, peaceful holiday in what can still be called the 'real' Cyprus. |
