The Paphos District
Once the capital of Cyprus, Paphos has a history that dates back thousands of years. Modern Paphos is split into two parts, the upper part being the old town known locally as “Ktima” and the lower town by the coast known as ‘Kato Paphos’. The upper part of the town contains the main commercial centre, shops and modern museums. The lower part of the town contains most of the historic sites.
Paphos is rich in ancient and natural sites which is reflected in the fact that it is included in the UNESCO list of World Cultural Heritage Sites and many of these sites date back to the Roman ages.
Polis area
Situated on the outskirts of the traditional town of Polis only 2.5 kilometres from the pedestrianised square making it safe to browse the many shops, enjoy a coffee watching the world pass by or dine at any of the wide selection of restaurants, tavernas and cafes which radiate out from the centre. The organised beach backed by tall Eucalyptus trees is within 4 kilometres of the property. The seaside resort of Latchi, with its famed fish tavernas is only a few minutes away by car, and here you will find an array of inviting sea-front tavernas with a superb selection of fresh fish and seafood served daily. Beyond Latchi you will find the well know 'Baths of Aphrodite' and for nature lovers the protected Akamas Peninsular. The daily market, waterpark, harbour and castle of Paphos can be reached within 35 minutes drive.
