The Paphos District
Cyprus is renowned for its nearly all year round sunshine, you can step back in time and visit the Amphitheatre at Kourion and wonder at the artifacts on display, remember to take your camera with you, you also have the fantastic mosaics there together with The House of Eustolios, remember that camera and water!
Use your 4X4 to explore the Troodos Mountains or the nearby Akamas Penninsula, take in the scenery and aromas of Cedar Valley, fantastic! Remember to make sure you have a full tank of petrol before you set out though as petrol stations are few and far between. Don't forget that camera and water!
Polis area
The property is located a very short distance from the local amenities where there are small supermarkets, banks, post office, butcher, bakers plenty of tavernas and restaurants. English is widely spoken so there is no problem for first time British visitors to this beautiful island.
On the coast road drive to Argaka stop off at the the "Half Way House" where the hospitallity is as wonderful as the kebabs or stop off at the "Fly Again" Irish bar to enjoy good food topped with an excellent view of the sea and lovely sea breezes. If you prefer to stay within walking distance try the "Old Town Restaurant" located on the turning to Latchi, probably the best food on this side of the island.
In Polis visit the local Museum of Marion Arsinoe, consisting of three exhibition spaces. Objects in one area derive from an extensive area around Polis and are chronologically arranged portraying its historical development from Neolithic and Chalcolithic to the Medieval periods.
Polis is close to where Aphrodite is believed to have met her beloved Adonis. Further along the coast visit the Baths of Aphrodite where it is believed she came to bathe, a quiet and tranquil place to visit.
Latchi Marina is about 8km from the property, here there is a variety of eating places where you must try the fish that has been caught that day and brought into the harbour. Or, sit in one of the harbourside restaurants/tavernas and just people watch. If you are feeling energetic try some of the water sports or take a trip on one of the glass bottom boats out along the Akamas Peninsula and see nature at its best, well worth the time and effort. Take your swimming costume though as the boat moors in a wonderful cove to allow you to swim or snorkel and take refreshments, normally provided.
For those who enjoy the game of golf the closest course is Tsada Golf Club established in 1994, the first course designed by Donald Steel. Par 72 - 6,855 yards and located amongst vineyards, next to a 12th century monastery it is bathed in cooling sea breezes in the summer season. Tsada is a challenging course which has an excellent club house, swimming pool with all changing facilities and is only about a 30 minute drive away.
For those who want to go further afield within an hours drive you will find the Secret Valley Golf Club (Par 72 - 6,737 yards) a championship course surrounded by stunning rock formations and mature trees. Nearby is the Aphrodite Hills Golf Club (Par 71 - 6,855 yards) designed by Cabell Robinson another fine example of a championship course built on two plateaux which has spectacular views of the sea.
Polis really is the place to relax and unwind.

We arrived at the apartment late at night ....... our first reaction was WOW! Spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated - home from home .......... We may even break with our tradition of never returning to a holiday destination. Thank you so much. David & Jacqui - October 2007
