The Paphos region
Paphos is the smallest of 4 cities of the island, with a population reaching just 30,000. This is about a 40 minute drive from the villas.
Paphos has many attractions which make it popular, among which are its ancient mosaic floors, its beautiful old harbour, its modern hotels, bars and restaurants, situated along the seaside. You can also visit the archaeological museum, the Byzantine castle of Paphos, the Tombs of the Kings, St. Paul’s Pillar and the Temple of Aphrodite.
Holidays to Paphos are like holidays to paradise and especially for those who love history. Many people are familiar with the Greek Goddess Aphrodite and it was on the Paphos shoreline that her legend was born. Remnants of this legend can still be seen today in a number of features including The Venus Rock and the Baths of Aphrodite.
Some of the amazing places to see whilst on holidays in Paphos include Paphos Medieval Fort which is located at the harbour, Tombs of the Kings which are spread out over a vast area and are underground tombs that date back to the 4th Century BC. There are also a number of churches and museums to visit too. Travel a bit further to see the birthplace of Aphrodite and The Kourion - an amazing spectacle of Roman living including a huge amphitheatre overlooking the sea. The Kourion boasts some amazing sandy beaches too.
For the young, or young at heart, there is a Waterpark, Go Karting, hire quad bikes ...... the list is endless.
For the golfing enthusiast there are four fantastic courses all within an hours drive of the villa - the nearest being about 30 minutes away.
Holidays to Paphos will never be boring either. Besides the usual attractions, there are so many museums, caves, and tombs to explore not to mention local art, vineyards, banana plantations, and much more.
Wherever you go there are amazing photo opportunities and that 340 days of sunshine to lap up too.
Until not long ago Argaka's main function was agricultural which is still clearly noticeable. Even during the almost unbearable heat of July and August the Argaka fields look fresh and green. Greenhouses produce cucumbers and tomatoes all year round and the hills are covered with citrus trees, tobacco, vegetables and other crops.
The beach of Argaka is a mix of sand and small. soft pebbles. During July, August and September there are 2 sea turtle species nesting on these beaches: the Caretta-Carreta and the bigger and more endangered Green Turtle. The sea is crystal-clear, unbelievably blue and warm until at least the end of November.
On the other side of the village, up in the hills, another natural delight unfolds: the Pafos Forest. The dense pinewood forest tickles the senses with its significant odour, singing birds and the sight of moufflons - if you are lucky.
Along the coastal road wonderful restaurants and bars have opened such as the Fly Again, an Irish pub, Lisa's Place where every dining guest is welcomed as a family member, Saint Barbara fast becoming renowned as one of the best places to eat in the area, and Half Way House with it's relaxed atmosphere.
Who wouldn't like to leave the dark winter months to others and spend Christmas in 25 degrees Celsius?
Basic shopping is available in Argaka. There is a supermarket along with the several restaurants and bars.
Polis which in Greek means town, is one of the most beautiful areas in Cyprus , near romantic sites, close to where Aphrodite, goddess of love and beauty, used to meet her beloved Adonis.
Akamas Peninsula, with its renowned Baths of Aphrodite, is a nature reserve of exceptional natural beauty and a national park. The whole Polis area has been beautifully blessed by nature and combines the beauty of mountain, sea and plain.
The Polis area is a perfect refuge for mental and physical relaxation and recreation. Those wishing to escape the stress and routine of daily life, will find an ideal place of calm and rest, in an enviroment of unparalleled beauty. Life in Polis still rolls along at a quiet pace without too many crowds or noise. Polis is the favourite spot of demanding visitors in search of a quality holiday in a friendly, sociable enviroment.
Here you will find a tranquil town square with cafes and restaurants. A Post Office, several banks and a couple of fairly large supermarkets
Going on to Latchi the coastal road separates the clear blue sea, pretty shoreline and local amenities from the surrounding lush green countryside. At the harbour, sit back and enjoy a seafood meal in one of the harbour side tavernas and watch the boats come and go.
There are several beaches in Latchi which are perfect for swimming. They are covered with fine sand. Sunbeds and parasols are available to hire.
Latchi is the perfect resort for water sports as it has such clean sea water. You will find windsurfing, snorkelling, scuba diving, surfing, water-skiing, jet-skiing, parasailing, sailing and fishing in Latchi. There are also plenty of boat trips to choose from. Latchi is home to beautiful scenery and nature, making it perfect for trekking and there are plenty of organised nature walks for you to enjoy. Alternatively relax on the beach watching the boats come and go or join one of the boat trips and swim in the Blue Lagoon whilst moored off the Akamas.
Drive further North of the villa along the stunning coast road and find Pomos a beautiful small fishing village boasting yet another wonderful taverna selling fresh fish straight from the sea and Relax beach, what more could you possibly want?

"Not what you expect in holiday villa"
We stayed thankfully for just 1 week of our 3 week holiday in Cyprus. We travel a lot and have been holidaying in Cyprus for over 20 years and in our travels we have never stayed in such a poorly equi… More
So sorry you felt that way. As you can see from previous reviews this is not the way guests normally feel. The villa was not advertised with a BBQ or outside eating area although there is now a BBQ available for future guests. The Jacuzzi had been out of action for a few weeks as it has taken a while to find someone to repair it as the suppliers are no longer in business, but, it was constantly monitored by a professional pool company and is being repaired today (05/11/13). Gardeners have to do their job, it was unfortunate that they arrived early and had some hedges to cut back; we normally ask that this is done when there are no guests in but gardens do have to be maintained all year round. The other issues raised by this guest will be dealt with. It is not unusual to have dealings with a Management Company whilst staying in rental accommodation; it is very rare that the owners of properties are actually based on the island. Most people find it handy to have someone local to deal with. We reiterate this is the first guest to have negative things to say about the villa as you can tell from previous reviews

"Fabulous Villa with spectacular views"
Great communication with letting agent, Sue leading up to the stay. Found the villa no problem. Lovely welcome pack on arrival (which was handy as it was late at night). Kids jumped straight in pool before bed. Woke to the most magnificant views. The villa is spotless and modern throughout. All air conditioning working perfectly (just as well in the heat) and private pool with those views including the sunsets were just magnificent. Problem with wi-fi sorted out within 24 hours. Pool was spotlessly clean. Jacuzzi was fab but due to the heat the pool was used right up until midnight most nights! Surrounding area lovely and "quaint", far less tourist filled than Paphos.
Would highly recommend to all my friends and of all the direct villas I have booked over the years this was definately the best! Excellent value for money.

"Peaceful, great views, very nice villa."
Set in a small development, this property was private and peaceful but felt secure due to not being completely isolated. Property is spacious and well maintained with all mod cons. The pool area is where most time is spent of course. This was private due to the high hedges on either side. The view over the wheat field and the orchard to the sea and Akamas peninsula was fabulous. Good size pool, plenty of sun loungers and nice shaded seating areas. The owner, Sue, was very very helpful and provided a welcome pack plus additional extras for our arrival, which meant we could just kick off our shoes and relax straightaway. Sue called us on the day we arrived to make sure we were ok and had everything we needed, and then left us to enjoy our holiday - perfect host!
There is restaurant in walking distance - Santa Barbara which was good and always seemed busy - right on the beach for that sunset dinner. The road to Polis has a few places to eat - Liza's Place has special mention for the good food, reasonable prices and friendly staff. Polis has some lovely restaurants and bars in the old town - ten minute drive from the villa. The Old Town Tavern was best - a bit more expensive than other places but the quality of the food and cooking was on another level. Chix Chox was also very good in the main square. Further on, Latchi is a 20min drive from the villa and has a nice marina with plenty of seafood/traditional restaurants, We thought Faro was very good. Hired a boat from here to explore the Akamas coast - great few hours zooming across the water and diving off the boat at various lagoons - would thoroughly recommend.
If you are looking for a very relaxing holiday with good traditional food, no big developments/hotels/high rises, fantastic walks on Akamas Peninsula and in the hills around Argaka, then this property and the area will tick all your boxes.
