Our townhouse and it's location offers everything you could need for a much deserved relaxing break in the sun.

It has two floors; on the first floor you will find a double bedroom and en-suite bathroom with bathtub, with Patio doors leading out onto a balcony. The balcony is west facing and captures the afternoon and the last of the evening sun and is a great place to relax with a coffee and enjoy the views over the swimming pool and fields beyond, or sip a sundowner or two! You will also find a twin bedroom with an en-suite toilet/shower-room with lovely views over the hills to the he back of the house. Both bedrooms have loads of wardrobe space and have pretty dressing tables with mirrors.

On the ground floor you enter the house via a solid wood front door leading onto an open plan kitchen area with lots of cupboard space containing a wide range of kitchen appliances, including an electric hob & oven with extractor fan,fridge/freezer, washing machine, toaster, kettle, plus crockery and glassware for 6 place settings. Follow through to the large lounge/dining area which is comfortably furnished in a contemporary fashion with finishing touches in the more classic Cypriot style, and has an LCD TV and DVD player with a selection of films and music to pick from, to keep you entertained. With full width patio doors leading out onto the private patio/garden area, it has a really spacious and open feel and keeps pretty cool. There is also a very handy downstairs cloakroom with WC on this floor, which saves having to dash upstairs.

As with most Cypriot properties solar energy is used to provide hot water for showers etc., which is great, making full use of the natural heat harnessed from the sun. All main rooms have reversible air conditioning units offering cooling and heating, so a comfortable temperature can be had regardless of the season. There are louvered shutters in both bedrooms to keep out the sun during the day and keep it cool, allowing you to lay in as long as you like!

Outdoors; the 3.6m full width patio doors lead out onto the patio/garden area, which is set-back from the pool area so is private, but still has lovely views of the poolside and countryside beyond. It is great for alfresco dining, with patio table and chairs provided and the balcony above providing some shade for those who don't want to sit in full sunlight when eating or relaxing. The large pool is great for a quick dip or for some more serious swimming and with are sun-loungers and umbrellas provided around the poolside is a lovely place to relax and catch some rays! There are also showers, WC's and changing facilities available, under the pool.

The Paphos region

Polis is situated in the Paphos Region of Cyprus on the south-west coast which boasts spectacular countryside, beautiful beaches, outstanding historical sites, pretty villages and sheltered by the Troodos mountains has one of the healthiest climates in the Mediterranean. With sun just about guaranteed 340 days of the year (though cooler in winter) this is pretty much an all year round holiday destination ,making off-season breaks very attractive. Many people choose to over-winter in Cyprus, avoiding the cold back home.

It offers something for everyone, whether you want to just kick-back and relax for a week or so in the sun; soak up the culture, visiting the numerous historical sites this island offers or enjoy classical opera under the stars. Explore the beautiful countryside, with its host of flora and fauna and coastal vistas. Take advantage of the many outdoor activities on offer including water-sports, golf, horse-riding, bird-watching, cycling and hiking. For the younger, fun loving or more adventurous amongst you, water-parks, Go-carting, Bowling or Quad-biking in the Akamas National Park. Or if you want to truly relax and recharge, visit one of the many Spas.

There is plenty on offer also for lovers of good food and fine wines at any of the many good restaurants; wine can be sampled at the islands wineries.

Paphos has a lot to offer and is just a 40 minute drive away. It has a lively Harbour area surrounded by many good restaurants and a variety of boat trips on offer. It has many many good shops and historical sites e.g. The Tombs of Kings to visit and it is certainly worth a day trip.

Details of a selection of places to visit, eat at or activities to take part in, are left for you to peruse at your leisure in the house.

The Cypriots are very hospitable folk and with English widely spoken are easy to strike up a conversation with, and more than happy to help should you need directions or further suggestions to help you get the best out of your holiday.

They drive on the left in Cyprus, as in the UK, which certainly makes life easier if you are British.


Polis is situated 35km North of Paphos on the Western side of the island of Cyprus close to the Akamas Peninsula and Aphrodite's pool. The area is truly breath-taking with an excellent climate, beautiful scenery and un-spoilt beaches. Many Cypriots chose to relax here and have their holiday homes in this area.

Polis is a 45 minute drive from Paphos airport, directions will be provided with your confirmation. Rental cars can be hired from the airport either ahead of travel or upon arrival, or we can arrange for a return taxi service for you (for daytime flights only) for around £80. Car hire is also available in Polis.

Our holiday home is located in the countryside on the outskirts of Polis, which is a small town located on Chrysochous Bay, boasting sparkling turquoise-blue waters and bordering the beautiful Akamas Peninsula Nature Reserve/National Park. It sits amongst a small number of low-level houses and apartments in beautifully landscaped grounds, surrounding a large shared swimming pool with lovely views all round of fields and hills and is a lovely place to relax. Local shops are a stones-throw away offering a good selection of the basics and a really good supermarket is just 5 minutes away offering wide variety of local & international produce.

The location is an ideal base for exploring the local area by foot or bicycle; motorbike, Quad-bike, car or Jeep, all of which are available to hire in Polis. You can go hiking, mountain biking, exploring, horse riding, golfing, enjoy and variety of water sports and in the winter you can even go skiing in the nearby Troodos Mountains; or you could simply enjoy the peace and quiet and relax in the sunshine.

Polis town is just a 10 minute walk from the house. It is a lovely traditional town centered around a cobbled square and boasts many good bars and restaurants offering a variety of quality food, freshly caught fish is a speciality. Live music is on offer during the summer months of July, August and September. You can while-away many a good evening here and then simply walk home.

Polis beach is a further 10 minute walk on from the town you can wander down through the orange groves and impressive, towering Eucalyptus trees to this beach. The beach has a bar which serves drinks and snacks all day and has sun beds and umbrellas for hire. It is lovely spot to sit and watch the sun go down behind the mountains in the evening

A further 15 minute walk along the coastal path/boardwalk will bring you to Latchi Harbour which has many good restaurants and bars

situated around a pretty Harbour, serving locally caught seafood; fish-meze is a must to be experienced. Latchi offers a variety of water-sports including diving, kite-surfing, wake boarding, speedboat/yacht hire and boat trips along the Akamas coastline, which is stunning. We hired a speedboat last year and anchored and swam in the Blue Lagoon, the water here is crystal clear and is an experience not to be missed.

The Baths of Aphrodite where the goddess Aphrodite is said to have bathed are close by and really worth a visit, the nature walk nearby offers a wonderful view of the bay.

The Akamas Peninsula Nature Reserve is 7km from Polis and is the Island's first National Park. It covers an area of 60sq miles and encompasses a very varied terrain with beaches , cliffs, gorges and forest as well as a number of picturesque villages. There are plenty of trails to walk in this beautiful countryside, spring is especially lovely with spring flowers carpeting the countryside. You can drive through the reserve, it is stunning and we'll worth doing, but you will need a 4WD vehicle, which can be hired in Polis. You could also explore on trail bike or Quad-bike, the local hire shop organizes Quad-bike Safari's into the park.

Lara Bay is around a 15 minute drive, with its secluded sandy beaches, great scenery and Turtle Conservation Station is a must to visit, though only accessible by 4WD vehicle.

The Troodos Mountains are 45km away, they are beautiful any time of the year and are a great destination for hikers and in the winter months for skiing and sledging.
