The Paphos region

Polis is set on the beautiful bay of Chrysochou, about 30 km north of Paphos on the Western side of Cyprus. It is adjacent to the national park area of the Akamas Peninsula, not far from the famous Aphrodite Baths.

Polis

The Akamas peninsula is a great area for walking. There are many surrounding Cypriot villages. The Troodos mountains are within driving distance - in winter they even have a ski resort there. Nearby Latsi offers romantic walks along the newly created promenade, watching the sun go down over the peninsular. You can hire boats from the marina or have fun with the watersports on offer.

"Brilliant place to celebrate my 50th birthday"

I have recently returned from a week-long stay at Villa Polis in Polis, Cyprus. It was my 50th birthday and 3 of my brothers and sisters came along to help me celebrate. The accommodation was just perfect for us: Twin beds allowed us to have a 'boys room' and a 'girls room', each with en suite bathroom. The facilities were great: A nice spacious and comfortable lounge area, dining table and kitchen space alongside. I love cooking and the kitchen had everything I needed. We ate in on a few nights but to be honest it was almost as cheap eating out. The main square in Polis was just a 10 minute walk away and the restaurants were all very friendly, excellent value and open - which was great as we were staying at the end of the season! Dave and Julie, the owners, were very helpful in making recommendations for car hire, places to visit and places to eat. They even arranged for a welcome pack of essentials for our arrival. It was great to get there and have tea, coffee, milk and a nice rose wine plus breakfast for the following day, sorted! There is an excellently presented INFO pack which we found really useful. I celebrated my birthday at a a restaurant called 'Finikas' on Polis Square. They brought my dessert out with lit sparklers and sang 'happy birthday' which was nice of them and it seemed very sincere! The best bit of the holiday though was the outside patio and shared pool. It was a bit chilly in the pool, but understandably so for the time of year, but as the weather was still hot - 27-29C all week - after a bit of a lie in the sun on the comfy sunbeds provided, a quick dip in the pool was really refreshing! We hired a car which in reality is essential. The inter-city buses are infrequent. The roads are good but some of the other drivers were a little scary at times. Don't let this put you off though. Knowing this just helps you to be vigilant that's all. Cypriots also drive on the left which helps if you do at home aswell. We visited Paphos on one day - c. 40 mins drive south. We also spent our last day there before our flight - which was a nice end to the hols. We went into the mountains on one day. A beautiful drive into the cedar and pine forest; far greener and lush than the coastal plains. We had a great walk with amazing views from a small town which was the birthplace of Archbishop Makarios. We visited Coral bay - not really our kind of place to be honest but great if you have young kids. Polis itself is very laid back and not really touristy like Paphos. We all came home with the urge to go back as soon as we can!!! My brother in law has already decided he wants to take his kids along for a week next year. For a fantastic break in lovely suuroundings, with all amenities, shops, restaurants and nice scenery, on hand, I couldn't recommend Villa Polis enough. But don't all book at once cos I'd like to go back again soon too!

"FANTASTIC VILLA IN GREAT COMPLEX"

We're no strangers to the town of Polis having holidayed there in one type of accommodation or other over the last twelve years. I can honestly say that this is the absolute best accommodation we have stayed in and one of the most relaxing and stress free holidays we have had.

First off booking was extremely easy and hassle free by e-mail due to the very pleasant and helpful Julie. Directions and a very comprehensive info sheet on the villa, complex and town was provided.

The villa is spacious, modern, well furnished and extremely well equipped. We dined out most nights but if you wanted to self cater there is every bit of kitchen equipment you could possibly ever need.

The patio is lovely. The photos don't do it justice! It's spacious and is shaded by lunchtime and lovely to sit on when you want a little break from the heat.

The pool is fantastic and really is about ten steps from the villa. The pool is cleaned twice a week and very well kept. It's about 100 feet long and you can certainly have a proper swim in it. The whole complex is very clean and maintained to a very high standard.

The town centre is a 15 minute walk to all the lovely cafes and restaurants and a 20 minute meander on the way home. There are 2 very good big supermarkets very close by, Papantoniou and Orphanides. Both do groceries, bakeries, meats, toiletries etc.

Looking forward to going back next summer. Top marks from us!!

"Fabulous holiday home in a fabulous location"

This was our 1st visit to Cyprus and we are so glad we chose this property which we found via Holiday Lettings. The whole complex was lovely & clean with first class facilities. Swimming Pool approx 10 steps from the patio. Easy walk to local restaurants & supermarket in Polis town. Highly recommended, in fact we have booked again for October.

"Absolutely wonderful"

This is a very well looked after villa and the owners have thought of everything. It is great for just chilling around the pool or walking into Polis for the restaurants which there are quite a few very well priced ones. The rooms were lovely and cosy and everything matched they really have gone into a lot of careful planning and the end result is just great. Can't wait to go back very soon and I will be definitely recommending this villa to all my friends. Thanks again to the lovely owners

"Great townhouse"

We have just returned from 2 weeks at Villa Polis - it was everything we hoped it would be. The townhouse was comfortable, well furnished and equipped and situated in such a convenient location. The pool is only a few steps away from the terrace and the complex is so quiet and relaxing. Would definitely book again.

"A perfect location for a peaceful, restful break"

The accommodation was exceptional and had everything we needed. It was very hot whilst we were there so the large shaded patio area was very welcome. The gorgeous pool and non stop sunshine was a few paces from the patio so we had the best of the shade, the pool and the sun. Polis town square (15 minute steady walk) had an abundance of good quality restaurants and cafes. We were very impressed and if you have a car there are even more a short drive into Latsi around the marina. A particular mention and thank goodness we didn't find it until nearer the end of our holiday was the Arts Cafe owned and run by a lovely German lady. She makes the most amazing cakes - different ones each day. Its just at the back of the town square and well worth a visit. The coffee is great as well. All in all we had a great time and would certainly return.
