Aphrodite Rock Villa
About the home
This property would suit holidaymakers with varying requirements. If you want to get away from it all and just relax then the quiet surroundings and private nature of the villa is ideal. If you are looking for activities including water sports, mountain biking, gliding, rambling and many others then this would be a perfect choice. The villa easily accommodates eight people, and family groups or groups of friends would find the villa very complimentary. The area surrounding the villa is relatively unspoilt as much of the land is deemed 'Green Land' by the government and cannot be built on by developers.
The panoramic View - : One thing that is very difficult for us to show you via our photographs is the simply stunning views from the villa. The villa stands right on the border of the Akamas National Park and enjoys views of the area from three verandas. The main views are from the pool side of the villa where you have an uninterrupted view of Chrysachou bay. The Troudos mountain range completes the panorama. Most guests have commented on these views being one of the highlights. Imagine sitting at one of the marble tables on a comfortable chair watching the world go by while you take a glass of fine Cypriot wine! Marvelous!

BookThe Paphos region
The Aphrodite Rock Villa is situated on the famous Akamas Peninsula next to Neo Chorio, which is a traditional Cypriot village. The village is on the Northwestern tip of Cyprus, North of Pafos and West of Polis. The friendly harbour of Latchi lies close-by and the much-visited Aphrodite’s Bath are both only 2 minutes by car. The nearest beach is in Latchi but there are many secluded areas in the bay. The area is great for trekking, mountain biking, diving and water sports, eating out or just relaxing in the quiet surroundings. Latchi has some of the best fish restaurants on the island and Polis is a lively town with cosmopolitan bars and restaurants. The villa lies 300 metres from the border of the Akamas National Park where you can spot species native only to this region and Cyprus, wander for hours on nature trails, enjoy wooded picnic sites and visit Lara beach where the sea turtles come to lay their eggs.
The Polis / Neo Chorio area
It is a very special place for us as it is our first property abroad and we use it for short family breaks during the year. We bought it on plans in 2003 and on 21st April 2004 it was finally finished. We spent a lot of care and time getting the right fitting and furnishings and we believe we have set it up to be most comfortable. My wife and I both work abroad but all of our family live in the UK so Cyprus was the perfect place for us all to meet up in the sun!
We have put a lot of thought and work into making our holiday home as comfortable as possible, and we hope you will enjoy your stay. Below is an edited version of a full "Guide for Guests" which is in the villa. It should give you a taste of what to expect when you arrive:-
Neo Chorio
The villa is situated on the outskirts of Neo Chorio, a traditional Cypriot village up in the hills overlooking the coast of Chrysachou bay. The village is small with one winding road that goes down to the local harbour of Latchi or up to the Akamas National Park. The village boasts three tavernas and a few small local shops. The closest tourist information office is in the town of Polis which is around 10 minutes drive from the village. The closest shop is about 5 minutes walk from the villa.
Shopping
For most of your shopping needs you would venture to Latchi harbour, around a five minute drive away (3klm). Here there are a couple of local supermarkets; you can't miss them as Latchi is basically one road past a lovely marina/harbour. You can buy most things you would need including meats, vegetable, fruit, breads, dairy, toiletries etc. I would highly recommend the locally produced oranges (they are cheap and superb for a morning drink of fresh orange juice - we have an electric juicer). If you want to venture slightly further then Polis is a more cosmopolitan town with slightly more choice. If you want 'Tesco’s' type shopping then there is a new Papantonio's (large supermarket) in Polis which is about 5klm. Please do use the local shops in the village as they have a surprisingly wide range of items from local produce to such as eggs, fruit and wines to branded items you would find in any supermarket. Some holidaymakers often ignore these shops but the locals are very friendly and are glad to see the trade!
Restaurants / Cafes / Bars / Pubs
There are some fantastic local restaurants in Chrysachou bay. The guest book gives you telephone numbers and more addresses. Latchi is renowned in Cyprus for its fish restaurants, especially the fish meze which costs £12-15 per person and includes many courses of local fish that changes depending on what has been caught that morning! A meze, you will find, is great value and unique to every taverna or restaurant. Polis is the closest town, again with more choice, ranging from traditional Cypriot fare to modern continental food to burgers to pizza. There are a couple of fantastic restaurants we have found in the hills in the village of Kathikas (Imogen's particularly). There are lots of bars of all types in both Latchi and Polis along with cafe's.
Leisure Activities
There are many varied leisure activities in the local area, some of these are literally just short walk outside the front door of our villa (walks/picnic sights/bird watching/mountain biking). Many of these are listed on our website/guest book and if you would like to know if a specific activity is available then contact me and I will let you know the details.
