Villa Seaweed SEA The ideas of Le Corbusier, Scarpa, Barragan and Mies Van der Rohe gave birth to the very first modern, contemporary, avantgarde villa on the island, just 10 years ago. Pure, minimalist lines harmonize perfectly with nature. Seaweed procures an unusual feeling of purity and serenity. Located at the extremity of Pointe Milous headland, Seaweed is a jewel of rare elegance whose every detail was carefully considered. The garden, created by the landscape gardener Frdric de Sainte Preuve, uses influences of Barragan, leaving nothing at random. Every plant has been meticulously selected each plants location was decided with precise definition, so perfection could be created. Seaweeds gardens play an integral part of this philosophy of peace of mind, illustrated by original botanical finds, like the hedge composed of dwarf filao trees. Barragan was also at the origin of the creation of two walls, one of which is ochre and the other purple, the two colors opposing each other, yet additionally complementing the structure of the contemporary architecture. The colors were specially created with the painter Loti. In the entrance side, immense bullet proof glass panes from Brazil surround the villa, appearing like a huge gem to the passersby. The zinc roofs are amazingly reminiscent of those of old Paris, contrasting charmingly with the metal structures supporting immense white canvas awnings. From the garden side of the villa, the view is spectacular St Jean Bay, the island of St. Martin, the outlying islets and the endless stretch of the Atlantic Ocean as far as the eye can see. Everything has its welldefined space the swimming pool, the pond, the fountain. The interior decor is of the same image of the exteriors sobriety, simplicity and modernity. The use of sober materials the floors, the bathrooms, the raw polished concrete dining room table. Roofs, beds, the closet doors of the dressing rooms are made from wood of the same tone of color. An intimate interior where white, beige and brown prevail. Antique Chinese furniture, Buddhas from China, two Brancus wooden stools, a Georges Nelson bench, Charles Eames chairs.Seaweed is a pure alchemy of details, a ship which sails in the winds of a world where everything is perfect.SPECIAL NOTE this villa rents for the list price over Thanksgiving, there are no breakdown rates.

The Windward region

St Barts, known as Saint Barthelemy officially and simply as Saint-Barth to the locals, is eight square miles of paradise in the north eastern corner of the Caribbean arc. Not far from either St Kitts or Anguilla, both of which can be seen on the horizon.

In contrast to its formerly British neighbouring islands, St Barts remains resolutely French and 100% part of the French Republic, with all the emphasis on style, fashion and cuisine that that entails.

Discovered by Colombus in 1493 and then again in 1957 by the Rockefellers, St Barts is famed as the playground of the rich and famous and at Christmas the global jet-set and glitterati can be found enjoying the 22 beaches and the 80 or so restaurants. The hotels on St Barts are small and the majority of the accommodation is in villas, of which we have the widest possible choice

Pointe Milou

Pointe Milou has the reputation as the Beverley Hills of St Barts. An exclusive area comprised mainly of rental villas, Pointe Milou provides calm and privacy as well as amazing cliff top and sunset views over the island.
