Home description

The villa is situated in the quiet environment of the Sabine hills and mountains, yet it is very close (10 minutes walk) to a very nice town where it is possible to find everything you need (restaurants, bars, wine bars, banks, markets, supermarkets, shops, etc). There is also a bus service that passes the villa and connects with the shuttle bus service from the town to the railway station (9 km ). From which it is possible to reach Rome in less than one hour or Leanardo da Vinci airport in less than one hour and a half. So by coming here you can visit Rome frequently, but avoid the chaos of the big city; returning to our quite retreat to relax while enjoying Rome's lights and the stunning 360 degree view from our terrace while enjoying a glass of wine or beer.

Not only can you visit Rome, but being very near the A1 highway exit you can visit many places of interest such as Florence, Siena, Orvieto, Perugia, Naples, Pompeii, Greccio and Farfa Abbey etc on one day trips. Many monasteries, hilltop villages, national parks and local antiquities are very close.
The villa is the ideal place for a family holiday , for a group of friends on holiday, or even special interest groups such as artists who will enjoy the opportunity to become immersed in the quiet rural atmosphere. The villa is surrounded by olive groves and fruit trees (we will let you taste our very good olive oil and our home-made jam) and by a large garden with swimming pool, bbq, wood fired oven, table tennis, table football.
The villa is on two floors: on the first floor there is a living-room with fire place, a kitchenette, a large dining room, three bedrooms (one with double bed, the other two with three single beds), a large bathroom with a shower and two sinks, and a long balcony. On the second floor there is a large living-room/kitchen with fire place, two bedrooms (one with double bed, the other with two single beds), a large bathroom with a shower and a large terrace with stunning view (when the sky is clear it is possible to see St. Peter's Dome).

There is a very interesting natural reservation on the Tiber near here, where it is possible to fish, walk, go cycling, bird-watch,etc. There is also a 9 hole golf course 8 Km from here.

Other activities which can be enjoyed are those activities related to nature, walking, hiking, horse riding, golf and tennis playing, cycling, and having picnics on the hills or mountains and visiting places of interest: . But you can also sun bathe here at the villa relaxing by the swimming pool which has a wonderful view of the old part of the town.

The Lazio region

Lazio is a region in the centre of Italy. In lazio there is Rome, the capital of Italy and one of the most impressive cities in the world. The climate is wonderful, with good weather nearly all the year round. In the summer you can enjoy a dry and hot weather, the nights are usually fresh. In our area, the Sabina we have hills and mountains, so it is a bit fresher than in Rome. In the nights there is a light wind coming from the mountains, so it is wonderful staying out in the garden or in the terrace and enjoy the fresh of the evening. in lazio there are many places to visit, places such as Tivoli, Viterbo, Tarquinia and the Etruscan sites , the "Castelli Romani" , ostia Antica and so on.

Poggio Mirteto / Sabina area

From here it is possible to visit many hilltop cosy medieval villages in a short distance, then you can also visit many Franciscan monasterie near here, too because St. francis spent a lot of his life in Sabina. You can also visit Greccio and Farfa Abbey (dating back to the 5th century), 10 km from here. In the summer there are many festivals in this area with bands playing or other activities, but the most important thing to do is enjoying nature and going sightseeing in places of interests.

How to get there

- From Ciampino airport take a bus to Rome Termini station, then an underground train toTiburtina station. A metropolitan train will take you to Poggio Mirteto Station. From here a local bus will complete the journey to Poggio Mirteto. The most important low cost companies (easy jet, Ryan air, etc) usually land in this airport.
