About the home

The cottage is on a private track, only a few cars a day go past, there are beautiful sea views,
and the cottage looks out towards a small island called the Mew Stone, and the Eddystone light house.
you can also see all the ships coming into Plymouth .
There is also a lot of wild life, Peregrine Falcon, Owls, Badgers, and Foxes, have all been seen from the cottage garden.

The cottage is very warm and cosy in the winter,
There are no extra charges for electric used in the cottage, and all bed linen is provided at no extra cost.
There is no need to bring washing up liquid, washing powder, surface cleaners, or toilet cleaners, or toilet paper because I provide all of these free of charge and they are from the Ecover range of products that are safe for the environment.
People who smoke are still welcome to stay at the cottage, but from 2013 smoking must be done outside.

The cottage is in an ideal area for walking, for looking at the wild life including rare birds and plants, fishing, and
horse riding are also available.
Although the cottage is in lovely countryside, Plymouth centre is only 20 mins drive away.

You can arrive at the holiday cottage at 2pm on your day of arrival.
And I ask people to leave by 11am on their last day, this gives me time to clean the cottage for the next guests.
The maximum of two well behaved dogs are allowed, at no time can dogs be left in the cottage on their own, they may be ok at home but in a strange place they may and have in the past acted very differently.
Smokers are still welcome but from 2013 the cottage will change to no smoking in the cottage.

Conditions

A deposit is not required, payment in full can be made during your holiday, if you have to cancel your holiday, there is no charge, all I ask is that you let me know as soon as possible, so I have a chance to re-book it.
When you have booked a holiday, via e-mail or phone 01752-862071 I will send you confirmation in writing, and full details of how to get to the cottage. Before booking please remember that if you are bringing dogs with you ( max of two ) they are not to be left in the cottage on their own at any time during your stay.
Please ring me evenings or weekends to make a booking, E-mail, or leave a message on the answerphone and I will get back to you.

“Great value with a warm welcome!” A warm and welcoming owner and cottage on the edge of a friendly village. Cottage clean with everything you could possibly need. Quiet, peaceful and beautiful garden. So many different walks from your doorstep that you're just spoiled for choice. Great atmosphere and food at the Odd Wheel Pub (you can take your dog into the bar). Lovely sandwiches and cream teas at The Mill by the beach. Plymouth is well worth a visit. We had such a great time during our stay that within 2 hours of returning home we contacted Fred and booked another week!

“Fantastic place and owner” We recognise we were extremely lucky with the weather for our holiday, but even so we found the cottage very clean and comfortable and well equipped. Fred welcomed us on our arrival and instantly made us feel at home and able to approach him wih any problems/difficulties we may have during our stay, but there weren't ANY. He advised when he would be available should we need him, invited us to us his roof balcony when he was out, and advised us of routes to the cove. We found one of the previous reviews, regarding smell of smoke/dogs, to be totally inaccurate, one of us being a smoker. We cannot thank Fred enough for a wonderful holiday, in a stunning location. Fred is a pleasure to meet.

“Ideal holiday let for heavy smokers and dog owners.” Fred greeted us warmly and explained to us how things worked and made sure we knew how to contact him if we needed to. Unfortunately for Fred 2 heavy smokers with dogs had rented the property the previous week and he had to apologise profusely for the really bad tobacco smell that hung in the air. He had tried to sort this out by providing air freshener but I am sure the previous week had been wet and cold and the property had been smoked in continuously. He did advise us not to smoke inside the property, as I am sure he did to ALL his guests. The small fan heater in the bathroom had been broken the week before and he had not had time to fix it but he did mention this to us immediately. This made the bathroom cold and we did not hang around in there for long! There was a lot of mould on the ceiling in the bathroom and bedroom and on the shower curtain and if you suffer from asthma it would be a real problem. The oven broke and a storage heater blew the trip causing a fun day without toasty warm heat but after investigating a bit we found the trip outside in the garage and turned and after consultation with Fred the storage heater was fixed. These were just general problems which could happen to anyone and it did not spoil the holiday in general- I believe that I should write an honest account of what we found a place to be like. The good points were the lovely location,easy parking,lovely warm apartment with a really comfortable bed. It has some lovely coastal paths very close so that you get a lovely view of the surrounding scenery-we really recommend that you walk them during your stay. This is a real value for money holiday and you don't pay over the odds and you get to meet a really nice owner in the meantime. Response: I feel that the title " Ideal holiday let for heavy smokers" is very unfair because even the guests writing this review admit that I ask people to smoke outside. The fuse did blow on the storage rad in the lounge I fixed it the very next day, but as you can see from the photo of the lounge there is no reason to get cold, because there is also a full size flame effect fire with two heat settings. The oven did start to trip the safety fuse, I offered to bring over a brand new table top oven, they said no its ok, a new cooker has been fitted. There was a very small amount of mould in two corners of the bathroom for this I apologise, the bathroom has now been redecorated with special bathroom paint, if guests particularly during the winter do not open a window or use the extractor fan while bathing or showering it does cause problems of this kind. I have always endeavoured to make my cottage a wonderful holiday experience and shall continue to do so, you only have to look at my booking list to know so many people coming back year after year cant be wrong.
