The Dalmatia region
Dubrovnik, the pearl of the Adriatic, has been added to UNESCO’s World Heritage list and this status is proved by the 1436 protected historical buildings.
The historical city of Dubrovnik, the former centre of the Dubrovnik Republic, is surrounded by city walls 2 km long which defended the city against attack both on land and at sea for centuries. Within the city walls a beautiful city developed with many churches, palaces and cultural monuments as well as the Stradun, a well known boardwalk for both young and old from all over the world which was once the stage for all major events. Many islands close by, a crystal blue sea, rich natural and cultural heritage, the Mljet National Park, historical villas and promenades are what make the Dubrovnik Riviera one of the most attractive destinations in Croatia. Here one can enjoy various activities, have fun all night long, enjoy autochthonic food and wine and the hospitality of the people.
Very popular beach under the city walls is a pebble beach with a terrace where one can enjoy a refreshing beverage. Near Dubrovnik, the beaches are mainly rocky, while the hotel beaches are mainly concrete terraces. An excursion to Lokrum is also a unique opportunity – swimming in a lake situated in the middle of an island and you can swim to a small cave. On the island of Lopud, one of the Elaphite islands, is a long sandy beach known as Sunj and getting to the beach is quite an adventurous walk. However, once you have reached the beach, you will see that it was well worth it.
Dubrovnik city walls represent a bond between the present and the past and serve as one of the best protection systems in Europe. Together with five defensive towers they are 1940 metre in length, and is a must-see.
Famous Stradun is the main street in the Old Town. Here you will find the Onofrio Fountain, built in 1438. On the right is the Franciscan Monastery, with one of the oldest functioning pharmacies in Europe, in operation since 1391. At the other end of the Stradun, you will find the locals' favourite meeting place, the Orlando Column, with the nearby Sponza Place and the baroque church of St. Blaise. Here is also the Rector's Palace, built in 1441, which is now a city museum packed with valuable and historic exhibits. If you are visiting in the summer, do not miss the world-renowned Dubrovnik Summer Festival, with music, theatre and dance performances. The version of Hamlet on Lovrijenac Tower is magical. The Dubrovnik International Film Festival also runs for several days at the beginning of October.

"Lovely view and location"
The view is amazing as described! Just a 5 minute walk to the old town, although there a lot of steps up to the apartment so you need to be quite fit (we are in our mid-fifties). Apartment is basic, but is very quiet for sleeping, and has everything you need for the price. Maja is a great help sorting out taxis and advice for us. Recommended.
Thank you for your nice comments! We are happy that you had nice holidays and that you were satisfied with the accommodation!

"Great views to the old town and sea"
We stayed four days in this lovely apartment in July. It has got all that you need within walking distance from the old town. Absolutely best part was the balcony with great views to the old town and sea. We spent most of our time there enjoying the views and sun. Only downside of this place is the climb up the stairs. We did not mind doing little excersise, but I would not recommend this apartment for families with little babies/buggies or people with difficulty in walking.
