The Western Cape region
As a province of South Africa, the Western Cape, recognised as one of the most beautiful places on earth, draws millions of visitors each year. Affixed to the tip of Africa as it is, the Western Cape lies bordered by two oceans - the Indian Ocean to the south and the Atlantic to the west - which goes a long way to clarify its allure.
The wild Cape Agulhas coast, the extraordinary magnificence of the Garden Route, the sparse, sweeping stretches of sand, punctuated only by rocky outcrops and fishing villages, of the West Coast notwithstanding, it is not the coastline alone that draws the crowds.
The constant reassuring presence of immense peaks form the backdrop to a land so lovely in parts that the emerald lakes and indigenous forests of the Wilderness, the sun-drenched vineyards of the Cape Winelands, the magnificent passes to reach the interior and the wide, windswept arid spaces of the Klein Karoo seem part of a fantasy landscape that often defies description.
There are excellent shopping facilities in nearby Plettenberg Bay. Fantastic local eateries can be found in Keurboomstrand, Plettenberg Bay and the surrounding area offering a choice of gourmet restaurants, bistros, pubs and cafés.
There are plenty of sporting and leisure activities in the surrounding area including sailing, swimming, kayaking, surfing, fishing, hiking, cycling, mountain & quad biking, horse riding & paragliding.Visit the Elephants at the nearby sanctuary, take a boat ride for an even closer experience with the Whales, Dolphins and Seals or get an Adrenaline Rush at the World Highest Bungy Jump, all close by.
The excellent golf courses at Plettenberg Bay, Goose Valley, Pezula, Simola, Knysna, & George are all within easy reach and two sets of golf clubs are available at the house.
There is so much to do if you are so inclined, or of course you can just rest and relax in your stunning, secluded Beach House!

My wife and I booked this house for 1 week in October 2013. I will say the house is beautiful but outside of the main town, very secluded, and unsafe. At 12:45 am on the 3rd night of our stay we had i… More
I must respond to this negative review which is full of inaccuracies and damages the reputation of our beautiful home.Unfortunately the guest did suffer a break in, nobody was hurt and some electrical possessions were stolen. The Traveller had come to South Africa from America with no travel insurance. He had also completely ignored all of the advise and guidance he was given by our house manager, did not use the alarm or the safe which is provided along with a lot of common sense advise. The suggestion that the house has been broken into 5 times is quite frankly a lie and based on hearsay at best. This is untrue, there has been one break in 6 years ago.We have rented out to over 100 sets of guests during that period and spent many months staying at the house with friends and family.Everyone loves it and feels safe. We did return a proportion of the guests money but as he decided to leave without communication with us for 4 days we decided that we to return 50% of his money was fair and reasonable. We would have offered an additional security guard if we had been given a chance. There is sadly petty crime throughout the world. It happens every day .South Africa is not immune but we have spent the past 15 years owning property and travelling regularly here from the UK and we feel safer here than in London. The beauty, peace and tranquility of Home By The Sea is something very special and I feel that it is only right that I respond and put the truth into the public domain.
