BookThe Western Cape region
Plettenberg Bay is one of the most beautiful places in the world, located on the Garden Route in the Western Cape of South Africa.
The Plettenberg Bay area
The Bay itself is spectacular – framed on the west by the Robberg penisular (itself a nature reserve and a walker’s paradise) and to east, the Tsitsikamma mountain range. The house overlooks the Robberg Bay with a view to the Tsitsikamma mountains which you can see from the front balcony. There are sandy white beaches that go on for miles, perfect for sea swimming and surfing.
This is one of South Africa’s best whale watching areas. In season whales may be seen close in to the Lookout and Robberg beaches and there are boat trips for closer sightings most of the year round.
The Shamwari Game and Baviaanskloof game reserves (both malaria free) are within easy reach. The area offers all the sporting activities you could want – in one of South Africa’s premier beach holiday destinations – surfing, wind and kite surfing, scuba diving and snorkelling (including underwater caving), sea kyaking, deep-sea and surf/rock fishing, golf, tennis etc.
Other highlights
Plettenberg Bay is a major polo centre and many of the world’s leading players compete there.
Numerous adventure activities are available in the area including forest canopy walking, abseiling, bungy jumping, tubing (canyoning) on the Storms River, mountain biking in the Hakerville forests.
Exceptional coastal and inland hiking (e.g. the Dolphin and Otter Trails).
Boat trips will take you 7 kilometres up the Keurbooms River through spectacular gorges and primeval forests.
A visit to the Monkeyland primate sanctuary is very worthwhile.
Distances
The house is 2km away - a 5 minute drive to Robberg Beach, a 5km stretch of white sand and perfect sea for swimming. It’s around 0.5 kilometres from a shopping centre with easy access to a supermarket, restaurant, garage and other shops. The main centre is around 3km away with banks, superb restaurants, great shopping and anything else you may need. Fishing off the rocks on the beach or by charter, There are 2 superb golf courses Within 10 Mins Drive, horse riding nearby, tennis courts 5 min away, Gym and Water Park 2km from house, watersports nearby.
