The Dordogne, also known as the Perigord, is one of the most beautiful regions of France, which enjoys fabulous sunny weather. It is famous for its prehistory, châteaux and excellent food and wine. There is a wide range of actvities available for all the family, canoeing, kayaking, horse riding, golf, cycling, tennis, adventure parks, water parks, quads etc. Also visit the wine growing areas of Bergerac, Monbazillac and St Emillion
The Plazac area
The medieval village of Plazac is central to the Perigord Noir and just 4 kms from Escoffie where you will find a boulangerie convenient for collecting morning bread and croissants, a lively café, restaurant and organic grocery shop. You may choose to wander around it's tiny winding streets, visit the ancient fortified church and presbytery and delve into it's history of some 600 years or more
Plazac is situated in the Vézere valley, an exceptional location listed by UNESCO as a world heritage site. Here we find the famous cave paintings of Lascaux (Montignac) The National Museum of Prehistory (Les Eyzies), cave dwellings of the Roque St Christophe and many more.
There are many excellent and affordable restaurants in the vicinity, where you can taste foie gras, magret and confit of duck, truffles and wild mushrooms.
