The La Gomera region
La Gomera is one of the least known of the Canary Islands which simply adds to it's charm. It is approximately 22km in diameter. In total there are just 22,000 inhabitants on the island which has dramatic views from the many viewing points located around the island.
The geographical location of the Canary Islands means that it gets all year round sunshine with temperatures varying from 20c in the winter to 28c in the summer. Rainfall is minimal which makes it such an attractive destination.
Approximately two thirds of the Island is a World heritage site. The opportunities for exploring and walking are superb. Very few people visit La Gomera only once!
Playa Santiago / Pueblo Don Thomas area
Playa de Santiago is a beautiful little village. There are basic shops, small supermarkets, bakery, pharmacy, ironmonger and evan a flower shop.
You can get just about anything in the village.
There is a small harbour in the village, which receives the passenger ferry from Tenerife. The short promenade on the sea front is where most of the restaurants and bars are located. The atmosphere is 'laid back' and charming.
There is a folder in the apartment which contains details on all of the amenities and ativities in the area.
How to get there
Many of the low-budget airlines fly to Tenerife. It is best to fly to Tenerife South airport.
Catch a ferry from the port of Los Cristianos which is located just minutes from the airport.
