The Tenerife region
Tenerife is the largest of the seven main Canary Islands and it’s the one which attracts the biggest number of holidaymakers. The island’s ideal climate, superb beaches and huge range of visitor attractions make it a favourite holiday destination for winter sun seekers from northern Europe.
Spaniards from the mainland flock here in the summer months to escape the blistering heat of the cluttered costas and to enjoy the island’s lively night life.
Tenerife ’s most famous feature is its extraordinary volcanic landscape. The island is home to the world’s third highest volcano – majestic Mount Teide which at 3,718 metres is the tallest peak in Spain.
Tenerife has an average winter temperature of 18C and an average summer temperature of 24C.
Playa de Las Americas / Torviscas area
When it comes to things to see and do on Tenerife, visitors are spoilt for choice.
Top attractions include the Aquapark at Playa de las Americas, you can take a boat trip to see the whales and dolphins which inhabit the waters off the west coast or head for Loro Park at Puerto de la Cruz where parrots, penguins, jaguars and various exotic creatures keep kids and adults alike amused for hours.
February/March is the wildest time, and brings several weeks of parades, fancy dress and general good times across the islands.
Tenerife is renowned for its buzzing club scene, they say Tenerife comes alive by night. The tourists and locals alike put their best outfits on and go dancing until the early hours in the nightclubs.
How to get there
There are always local taxis available - but be wary as they may try to overcharge tourists. Fare should be no more than 20 Euros.

There is a double bed in the bedroom, a double sofa bed in the lounge and two air beds (with a foot pump) for extra sleeping.
Further details outdoors: There are two quiet, well maintained swimming pools on-site (one is heated). There is a small, but useful and friendly supermarket on-site, the opening hours are 8 am - 2 pm and 5pm - 9pm. Also available is a launderette, vending machines and a pay telephone on the complex.
