The Tenerife region
Tenerife has a year round pleasant climate making it an ideal place to visit any time and especially during the British winter months to escape the cold. There are many wonderful sites to visit both man made and natural. The island is volcanic and Mount Teide it's number one natural feature with the strange surrounding landscape offers a great day out excursion.
The sea offers various excursions including whale and dolphin watching, fishing and sailing. The black volcanic sand provides great beaches with clean water and various sporting activities including diving, water skiing, paragliding and banana boat rides. Or you can just laze away the hours enjoying the relaxing atmosphere and good weather.
There is a good variety of man made parks / entertainment and all are easily accessible by foot, car, tourist coach trips or the public transport system. There are championship golf courses within the Los Cristianos / Playa de las Americas area. Green fees start at about 30 Euros and most of the courses welcome beginners.
The beautiful island of La Gomera is accessible by ferry from Los Cristianos which you can organise yourself or book a coach trip to see the sights.
Playa de Las Americas / San Eugenio Puerto Colon area
Torviscas area of Playa de las Americas is considered the quality "West End" district of the town. Despite this it is still a lively area offering a wide range of restaurants, bars, nightlife and shops all offering a varied selection of tourist goods, duty free, types of food and entertainment.
The waterpark, Aqualand is located opposite Laguna Park 1 across the motorway so just a short stroll while Parque Las Aguilas is a Jungle Park that offers all the usual attractions of a wildlife park and can be found just outside Los Cristianos. The Siam Park which is still under construction is going to offer a wide variety of attractions with water rides and animals and is about 5 minutes in a car.
The Tenerife Pearl factory has an exhibition and workshop that can be reached by a special free bus that picks up from various locations. A leaflet is available showing the pick up points. Here you can browse or buy ready made items or have a piece of jewellery created for you.
Other local activities for you to enjoy are golf, go-karts and quad bikes. At Puerto Colon (5 minute walk) you can take advantage of some of the sea activities the island offers - whale and dolphin watching, deep sea fishing and diving. Various companies have leaflets for you to browse. There is also a local market twice a week while the one in Los Cristianos is vast.
Loro Parque is located near Puerto de la Cruz and is well worth the trip. It is another wildlife park and has some wonderful animal shows.
How to get there
Flights are available from nearly all flight companies (including many budget ones) and airports. Some offer any day of the week flights so options are flexible. Once you have collected your luggage, exit the airport and take a taxi to Laguna Park 1 at a cost of 20 - 25 Euros and you could be sitting on the balcony enjoying the pool and sea views in less than 1 hour from landing.
Buses are available to take you from the airport should you prefer.

Further details indoors: The bedroom has twin beds with ample wardrobes and drawers. A ceiling fan light is fitted for your comfort while the window and sliding patio doors give the room lots of light and access direct to the balcony and views. Also there is a safe for your valuables. There is a hair dryer and tongs.
In the living room you have 2 sofa beds and a pull out bed from underneath thus giving sleeping for 5. The living room has sliding patio doors to the balcony and a ceiling fan/light. The dining area has a table and chairs for meals or you can use the ones on the balcony. There is a satellite TV and radio/CD player for your entertainment in the apartment.
The kitchen has all the usual gadgets you need for self-catering including hob, oven, kettle, toaster, fridge and microwave. There are also bucket, mop, broom and dustpan to assist in keeping the apartment tidy. An iron and ironing board is also provided.
Bathroom has bath with shower over, toilet and basin set in vanity top.
Further details outdoors: The complex is very nicely landscaped and kept in good order. The pool is communal and salt water with graded areas for children. There are sun loungers on the terrace areas around the pool. By the pool there is a pool bar for drinks and snacks. Below the pool there is a games console room with "porthole" windows so you can see swimmers from beneath water level. An air conditioned restaurant offers buffet and a la carte meals for your enjoyment at reasonable prices. There is a bar area with music/entertainment on site should you prefer to stay on the complex.
Near the pool area there are also snooker and ping pong tables while a net court area is at the far end of the pool area where volley ball, etc can take place. On the pool level you will also find the token operated laundry (tokens from reception.)
Reception is 24 hour giving service, help and security to the complex. There is also internet access through a small hub of computers in the reception / foyer area. These are coin operated at reasonable rate.
Further details
The apartment is serviced ready for your arrival and the linen is changed weekly or as pre-arranged at time of booking. Each guest is provided with 2 bath and 1 hand towel per week. You must take your own beach towels. It is then cleaned and serviced fully on your departure for the next guests. Generally day to day clearing / cleaning / tidying is your responsibility.
Conditions
A deposit of £50 per week booked is required to reserve the apartment.
Balance is due 4 weeks prior to arrival.
