Home description

The accommodation consists of a double bedroom with twin beds, a large lounge/diner with BBC, ITV and satellite TV, and a kitchen area containing a modern hob and oven with fridge and freezer. The apartment also contains a fully fitted bathroom, with washing machine. Malibu park is built on a slope and this apartment is located on the top level. This means that it is located on the same level as the pool, bar and shop and also enjoys the best views of the Atlantic Ocean.

The Tenerife region

As with the rest of the Canary Islands, Tenerife is a son of Pluton. While the volcanic development of the eastern islands started more than 20 Million years ago, the oldest mountain ranges of Tenerife arised from the Atlantic much later (about 8 to 12 Million years ago).

At least 3 Million years ago it was believed that there were 3 islands with the Anaga, Teno and Valle San Lorenzo mountainranges. In a tremendous volcanic process the old central volcano and the great mountain range (Cumbre Dorsal) melted together into what we know today as Tenerife.

Presumably the top of the volcano did not explode but collapsed in it's own crater and is now one of the greatest collapsed craters of the world (Las Cañadas). This oval crater is at it's longest distance about 17Km long.

500.000 years ago the last stage of volcanic activity in Tenerife took place. The 'Pico Viejo' (old peak) erupted first and some time later the higher 'Pico del Teide'. This last one has on it's top a sulphur coat surrounding it. The last volcano eruption in Tenerife happened near the village of Santiago del Teide in 1909.

Playa de Las Americas / San Eugenio area

Contained within the highly popular complex of Malibu Park and situated in a quieter area of Las Americas, the apartment has easy access to communal pool, a bar selling meals until 10pm, supermarket, Tennis court and a snack bar.

Situated right next door to Malibu Park is the Aquapark Octopus. Aquapark Octopus is a very action packed water park, especially for families with Children. The park has dolphin displays, rides and flumes varying from gentle to white knuckle waterfalls, wild water slides, children’s climbing frame structures and sun bathing terraces. Changing rooms are also provided.

San Eugienio, slightly to north of the centre of las Americas is home to a marina – Puerto Colon, which has a number of impressive yachts moored, and is a pleasant place to walk around. You will also find a range of boat trips depart from here. Most of the trips consist of heading out to look
for dolphins in the channel between Tenerife and its neighbouring island of La Gomera.

The resort of Playa de las Americas was created out of the desert around 30 years ago, in response to the enormous amount of people arriving on the islands due to mass tourism in the 1960s/1970s. Playa de las Americas has one big advantage over most of its competition – its weather.
Due to its position in the south of the island the resort gets an enormous amount of sunshine, around 320 days a year. Even in December, it is not uncommon for temperatures to reach 80 degrees.
If you are looking for nightlife in Tenerife, you will find no better place. Most of the nightlife is based around a small area in central las Americas. There you will find fast food restaurants – Pizza Hut, KFC, Burger King, McDonalds and the two main commercial centres – Veronicas and Starcos.

How to get there

Malibu Park is only about 15km from Tenerife's main airport, Reina Sofia. It is also located conveniently close to junction 29 of the motorway that links Playa de las Americas with the airport. Taxis are plentiful from the airport terminal and will cost around 20 euros. If on the other hand you wish to hire a car, there are also car hire kiosks located in the terminal. It is however recommended that you book this in advance.

The sun terrace, containing a table and three chairs, is south facing and is glazed in sunshine all day throughout the year. The inside of the property is spacious and brightly coloured with a built-in cupboard,containing a safe, in the hallway and also a built in wardrobe in the bedroom. The lounge area contains a sofa and arm chair, coffee table and sideboard harbouring a television set. The kitchen area contains a modern hob and oven. Also a fridge freezer, microwave and kettle. Contained in the kitchen cupboards are plates, bowls, mugs, glasses and egg cups. Also contained are saucepans and a frying pan. The drawer contains knives, forks and spoons. The bathroom contains a shower cubicle, sink, toilet and bidet. It also houses a washing machine.
