The Lanzarote region

Playa Blanca is situated at the most southern point of Lanzarote and is approximately 30 mins/30 km from the airport by taxi - and 37 kilometres from the Capital also Arrecife.
By the side of our development there is a local bus stop which runs around the area, including beach, marina and town, which runs twice an hour. A 5 minute walk from the villa is a hiperdino supermarket, snack bar which does takeaway pizzas and a taxi rank.
Playa Blanca happens to be the most recently developed resort on the island. Consequently it has become an attractive holiday destination which has learnt from the mistakes made by other resorts and is more tranquil and less noisy . There has been a good investment in infrastructure in Playa Blanca as well as holiday villas and hotels.
The newly built promenade is the heart of the place for visitors with its myriad of cafes, restaurants, shops and bars. At midday when everyone has returned from the beach, the promenade walk is full of people, where all sorts of languages can be heard in Babylonian fashion.
The new pedestrian walkway is right through the centre of the village where you will find many shops, restaurants, banks, bars and supermarkets where one can wander about and look for gifts to take home. There are cafes and restaurants to suit every taste. Despite all this Playa Blanca retains the atmosphere of a small and charming village.
The nicest beach is the Playa Dorada, or Golden Beach, which is clean and being partly manmade is well protected and safe. The people who visit it usually spend the whole day there, and is recommended for families and children as it is busy but broad, there is diving, paracraft, banana sky bus, jet sky, and so on and is 5 mins by car, 15/20 mins walk from Villa Citrus along the scenic coastal promenade.
Beyond the harbour you will find another beach called Playa Flamingo, with a lively atmosphere all around.
The Playa Blanca / Marina Rubicon area
In the evening the Marina Rubicon is idea for couples and families who are looking for restaurants, bars, studios and boutiques or just stop for a coffee glass of wine or dessert within view of the sea or just roam around the trendy shops and galleries which stay open til 10 pm.
Villa Citrus is situated within easy reach of a picturesque 2/3 mile coastal promenade which leads to the trendy upmarket Marina Rubicon, beaches, Playa Blanca Town and bustling Harbour. A short five minute stroll away from the villa is a handy well stocked supermarket, Argentinian Restaurant and a bus stop which promenades the local area including beaches, marina, harbour and town.
A childrens playground and cafe bar is less than a 10 minute walk together with a new modern shopping centre called El Pueblo with fashion, gift shops and quality restaurants and bars. A supermarket, 'Ropers' that sells virtually everything from an amazing variety of fresh and frozen fish/meat/veg/salad to local delicacies is also situated in El Pueblo. The sports bar has everything from Sky sports to good quality well priced snacks available every day. The local beach is ideal for fishing and rock pooling for the kids.
The new Marina Rubicon makes Playa Blanca a more upmarket resort and is only a 15-20 minute walk or 5 minute drive from Villa Citrus. Also from our villa in a different direction is a new Shopping Centre and a luxurious 5 star hotel Dream Castillo which offers spa treatments if you fancy pampering yourself.
The Marina is enticing at night with many upmarket trendy designer boutiques, shops, galleries - perfect for roaming around after a satisfying meal in one of the many restaurants or just to sit and enjoy a coffee/dessert or a glass of wine and watch the yachts and people go by.
A recently opened restaurant called El Mirador has sea views and sun loungers, so it's possible to have a cocktail whilst watching the sunset in total comfort whilst listening to music.
If you prefer the villa has a good supply of varied dvds and there is an English Speaking Disney Channel on the tv.
We can personally recommend Ropers Supermarket (13 minute walk from the villa in the El Pueblo Shopping ~Centre) for good quality and varied selection of meat, chicken, ribs, fish, fresh salad, beer and wine for a perfect bbq, but don't forget to buy the bricks and long matches. The villa is equipped with bbq and bbq cooking implements. But please remember to clean the bbq afterwards or our managers can do it for 50 euros.

Really enjoyed staying at Villa Citrus. There was plenty of room for us to relax, indoors and outdoors. Great location – very quiet and peaceful. Enjoyed the pool – glad we had it heated – water temperature was around 30oC. Some of the best restaurants we've ever found at a Spanish resort in the marina about 20 minutes away along a beautiful coastal path. Would especially recommend Casa Brigida and Aphrodite Little Italy. We also enjoyed a trip to the National Park – spectacular scenery. Would definitely like to stay at Villa Citrus again |

Having stayed in Playa Blanca and at Villa Citrus we knew what to expect but that never deflected from the wonderful location, the sheer comfort of the villa and the facilites at the villa. Villa Citrus is just perfect and has everything you could want for a great holiday. The pool is just perfect for chilling out and cooling down, the table area for sitting out having lunch or in the evening for a drink. The villa is fully equiped with cooking facilites if you want them all mod cons including TV, DVD, washing machine, fans for when it is really hot inside, and has ample space even if you had 6 people in it. Only 5 minutes drive into town or even 20 minutes to a wonderful Marina with plenty of restaurants to eat at. What else can I say - a wonderful place, wonderful villa and we will be going back for a third visit in 2012! |

Perfect villa for a family holiday. Spacious, roomy and airy with a soothing breeze on a hot day. Private swimming pool was a hit. We didn't hire a car at all in two weeks; yet were quite active... more |

June 28th - July 12th 2009 ~Great Holiday! Very relaxing. lovely weather and the villa more than lived up to our expectations. Would recommend a car to explore the island although not a necessity. If staying within the local area of Playa Blanca and Marina Rubicon as the walks there are lovely along coastal promenade. Playa Dorada Beach great for kids (and adults!). Would recommend Lani's restaurant in Marina and Indian Spice in Playa blanca. If you fancy a drive into Costa Teguise el Paio and Texan have rstaurants are great too. Thank you for sharing your lovely villa. Nikki, Si, Daniel and Holly
Sept 17-Sept 24 2009 Hi Maureen, We have had the most wonderful holiday. Your villa is just perfect, all anyone could want for a fantastic place to stay. The weather held out and we only had some rain on one day out of the week. Loved the pool and used it daily. The villa is in such a lovely location, we had a car (hired from airport) and are glad we did to be honest, we drove to Puerto del Carmen and it is not a patch on Playa Blanca. We got to sample some lovely restaurants in Playa Blanca and the one we went to 3 times and would recommend to anyone is La Vaca Tijuana on the front. If you like meat or fish it is just superb and the service was 2nd to none. I could write on and on about our wonderful holiday but just want to say thanks for letting us have your wonderful villa for a week and we will be back without a doubt Martin and Anna x
October 2009 - What a beautiful villa maintained and presented to the highest of standards. All I can say is that its been a totally relaxed and chilled week with the weather conditions being absolutely perfect. Great Location due to its superb locallity for shops (netto) supermarket a 2 minute walk and a 5 minute drive into Playa Blanca town centre. Beach is all within a pleasant 15 minute walk. The heated pool was wonderful with a lovely private patio. Accommodation and fittings all spot on. Golf courses were excellent - I'm sure to be back thanks again Mark and Friends.
October 29th - November 5th 2009 - Spent a wonderful weeks holiday at Villa Citrus, everything was 1st Class - weather excellent so that was a bonus! Will definately come back. Thanks again, Janice x
November 13th - 20th 2009 - We've had a brilliant week here - seems too soon to leave - so many sights and sounds of Lanzarote still to explore. The villa was lovely - very comfortable, pool area well equipped, and we ate in a few times and found the kitchen good - a salad spinner might be a good idea? We liked the location - spent much time in Papagayo Beach and funky little bars. There perfect for mojitos as the sun went down. Only had 1 day of rain and cloud and visited Timinafayo volcanoes and Cesar Maniriques house which was fab and like something out of a James Bond Film - very 'Octopussy'! Would recommend El Chopadero Bodega just north of Uga - very atmospheric, great service and recommend the dates in bacon tapas and delicious moscatel. We are definately returning to Lanzarote, somuch to see and do! Blissful weeks break from cold Scottish winter! Thanks again - nice to meet Mike and LInda good to know they were close if anything went wrong. Scottish Borders.
November 22 - 29th 2009
