The Lanzarote region
A largely volcanic Island with varying and dramatic scenery, situated approx 100 miles from the Sahara Desert! Excellent all year round sunshine, numerous blue flag beaches and duty free shopping.
Playa Blanca, the southernmost resort in Lanzarote, is situated around 25 minutes drive from the Island's airport.
It is the newest of the three major resorts on the Island and has only recently become a destination for the sun loving tourists that frequent Lanzarote. As such it has learnt from the mistakes of other resorts and definitely has a more upmarket feel.
This is due in no small part to the completion of the luxurious Marina Rubicon and the focus on providing luxury villa and 5* hotel accommodation. There are also plans afoot to build a golf course overlooking the sea.
Playa Blanca / Los Calamares area
It is definitely worth visiting the numerous Blue Flag beaches the resort has to offer. Most notable of these are the protected beaches at Costa Papagayo; regarded by some as the best beaches in Europe.
If shopping is a must for you during your stay, then you'll find a wide range of outlets. The centre of the town is home to a plethora of shops selling everything from leather goods to cut price cigarettes and alcohol; however a two minute drive will take you to the designer outlets and boutiques of the Marina Rubicon. Here you will find everything from Gucci to Prada.
At night, even though nightclubs are scarce, there are plenty of restaurants and bars with menus to satisfy all palates. What's more, there are a growing number of chill-out bars situated next to the sea; what better way to watch the sun set over the neighbouring island of Fuerteventura.
If you tire of the beaches, then there's plenty to keep you occupied. The ferry to Fuerteventura is situated in the harbour, many old monuments to visit and numerous boat trips and excursions to other parts of the Island. We recommend a trip to the Timanfaya mountain where you can ride a camel, eat food barbecued by the heat of the volcano, or just sit and marvel at the prehistoric surroundings. The villa is one of two identical (but mirror image) properties next door to each other. If 20A is booked you will be offered 20B as an alternative at the same price.
