Casa de Fortuna - House of Good Fortune - is a new luxury 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom villa and was completed in the Spring of 2004. It is close to the beautiful, extinct volcanic mountain of Montana Roja and 2 minutes away from the rugged coastline. There is a lovely little parade of shops which are only 2 minutes walk from the villa which include a Chinese restaurant, 2 supermarkets, a bakery/patisserie, a local bar and two coffee bars.
The beaches of Playa Flamingo and Playa Blanca are a short drive away and the famous Papagayo beaches are only about 15 minutes by car. It is ideal for families who are looking for a really relaxing holiday and offers the tranquillity that is not readily found in the built-up established tourist resorts such as Puerto del Carmen and Costa Teguise.

There is a spacious hall leading from the front door to the lounge, kitchen and utility room, outside eating area, bedrooms and bathrooms.
The kitchen is fully equipped with all the modern facilities and there is a separate utility room with a washing machine and airer.
The generously proportioned lounge area has 2 beautiful leather sofas, coffee table, side table and is equipped with Satellite TV - Sky Freeview including ITV, video, DVD and hi-fi, making it a lovely area to relax in. There is also a breakfast bar with bar stools.
The master bedroom has a king size bed and en-suite bathroom and French doors lead out to the private swimming pool. The second bedroom has twin beds and space for a good quality 'Z'-bed for the 5th guest. It also has a bathroom opposite with a large, marble tiled walk-in shower. Both bedrooms have spacious built-in wardrobes.
There is a safe in the second bathroom which is big enough to store your passports, t/cheques, money, jewellery and any other valuable items.
We also have a selection of toys, games, cards, books and board games, videos and DVDs to suit all ages.

There are 3 eating areas: There is a large teak, dining table in an outside covered dining area, a patio teak table and four chairs which overlook the swimming pool and, of course, the breakfast bar with three stools.
The private, heated swimming pool has a solar pool cover which helps to maintain the temperature of the water. The pool is serviced twice a week to ensure that the water is always in peak condition and it has the benefit of underwater lighting for that warm swim at dusk while the BBQ slowly cooks your evening meal.
The villa has been fitted with charming shutters with integral mosquito nets. This means that you can enjoy the beauty of the very well-stocked garden before retiring for a cool and peaceful night's sleep.
Finally, there is a private car parking space at the side of the property.

We have provided 2 fans which can be moved to whichever room you desire, if needed and there is a high quality heater for warming up the rooms if necessary during the cooler winter months.
A small children's table and chairs is provided for the younger guests should it be needed with a selection of toys and games. Any additional baby/young children's equipment can be hired at a small additional charge.
A hair drier is also there for your use.
A complimentary 'Welcome Pack' awaits your arrival. We include wine, bread, milk, butter, jam, biscuits and water in the 'Welcome Pack' and there are containers of tea, coffee and sugar for your use.
All towels and bed linen are provided. Beach towels are not provided. Bed linen is changed weekly and towels are changed mid-weekly and weekly. The villa is cleaned each week and a midweek clean can be provided at a small additional charge.
Conditions
The villa is available for any duration and we are flexible on changeover day. However, normal changeover day is Thursday because the majority of flights from the UK are on that day.
Prices are based on 2 people sharing with a supplement of £50.00 per extra person per week up to a maximum of 5 people. The fifth person is only charged an additional £30.00 for the use of a high quality 'Z'-bed. We charge a £100.00 damage liability deposit which is refundable upon your return. We ask for a 40% booking deposit which is non-refundable in the case of cancellation. If there are 8 weeks or less to the start of the holiday, payment must be made in full. If there are more than 8 weeks to the start of the holiday, payment of the 40% deposit must be made. The balance of the payment plus the £100 damage liability bond must then be paid no later than 8 weeks from the start of the holiday.
Please note that there is no charge for children under the age of 5.
The villa is available from 3pm and has to be vacated by 10am unless there are no guests booked to arrive on the same day as your departure.
Discounts will be considered for long Winter lets.

The Lanzarote region


Lanzarote, the most easterly island in the Canary archipelago, lies in the Atlantic Ocean approximately 300km (186 miles) west of the African coast of Morocco and is, in many ways, unique. The Island's scenery ranges from volcanic mountains to low hills of volcanic ash and cinder to pretty villages of whitewashed houses, which are surrounded by vines growing in sheltered hollows in the volcanic cinders. The landscape is often described as "lunar" - indeed, many scenes from the film "Planet of the Apes" were filmed here. Lanzarote also has many beautiful sandy beaches such as those at Playa Blanca and Papagayo. Bougainvillea, hibiscus and geranium as well as many Canary palms flourish over the Island, giving a splendid array of bright colour.
Lanzarote has more sunshine than any of the other Canary Islands and the unique combination of the mild temperature, well-preserved landscape and the might of the volcanoes are most appealing and many holidaymakers return year after year.
The Playa Blanca / Faro Park area
The rugged coastline is only 2 minutes walk from our villa and there is a block-paved path which goes right round the coastline. The nearest beach, Playa Flamingo, is about 2kms away and Playa Blanca's local beach, Playa Dorada, is about 5 minutes drive away and then there are the beautiful Papagayo beaches which are within 15 minutes drive. There is plenty of opportunity for safe swimming and snorkelling. Diving and water sports are also possible.
There is a lovely little parade of shops which is only 2 minutes walk from the villa. There are 2 supermarkets which will provide you with all the day-to-day essentials, a lovely Chinese restaurant, 2 coffee bars, a bakery/patisserie and a local bar, etc.
Playa Blanca with its fine restaurants and shops is only 5 minutes drive away from our villa and Puerto del Carmen, which has a busy nightlife, if you wish, is only about 15 minutes drive away. The new Marina Rubicon is bursting with lovely restaurants and shops and there are some fine boats to admire whilst you sit and relax at the waters edge. Timanfaya National Park is about 30 minutes by car and camel rides are also available. Then there is the lively Sunday market at Teguise, which should not be missed, as well as the Manrique Foundation and the splendid cactus gardens at Guatiza, etc. To travel from the south of the island to the north would probably only take you about 90 minutes.
There is an 18 hole golf course which opened in July 2008 in Puerto del Carmen and another full course in Costa Teguise. A third golf course is due to be built in Puerto Calero and ultimately, a fourth in Playa Blanca.

Flights from the UK to Lanzarote's airport at Arrecife are easy to book and the flight takes between 3.5 and 4 hours. Good websites to look at to book your flights are: www.airflights.co.uk, www.flightline.co.uk and www.monarch-airlines.com The majority of flights from the UK are on a Thursday but we are happy to take a booking on any other day of the week and for any period of time.
Casa de Fortuna is no more than a 30 minute drive from the airport and we would thoroughly recommend Lanzcar S.L. to hire your holiday car from. Their email address is: lanzcar@msn.com and the contact is Freddie Drummond. They offer an excellent service, meet you at the airport and their rates are very competitive. We email directions to the villa when you have confirmed your booking, along with our Villa Manager's mobile telephone number should it be necessary!
If you prefer to book a taxi, the cost for a one-way trip would be between 35 and 40 euros. Our Villa Manager is often available to pick up guests too and take them back to the airport at the end of their holiday.

A great deal of care has been taken by the owners to ensure that anyone renting this villa have a warm welcome and a beautifully equipped house. Although the villa is in a residential estate, there is a great deal of privacy. The pool is well heated, the kitchen fully equipped, and the 2 bedrooms have access to 2 bathrooms (one has a shower only, but it's a great shower!), so 2 couples can be remarkably comfortable. We have now stayed twice, and it is excellent value. |

This is a lovely villa in a residential area of Playa Blanca. Although we hired a car the villa is on a regular bus route into Playa Blanca and from there to the rest of the island. Shops covering all essentials are a couple of minutes walk away with everything else available in Playa Blanca a few minutes drive. There is a pleasant walk from the villa along the coast to the sea front at Playa Blanca taking around 45 minutes not all of this is finished with a couple of short areas crossed on gravel paths. The pool is wonderful, fully heated and large enough for a swim., and its all yours! The villa was superbly equipped with all the cooking and eating essentials to fully cater yourselves. There are eating out places near the shops. The television was replaced while we were there by the very friendly caring couple who look after the villa. This was in response to previous comments and demonstrates the attention given by the owners. All our dealings with arranging the rental were dealt with promptly, clearly and courteously. There was a wide variety of books, games, dvds and cds available for the guests entertainment. The only slight adverse comment I would make is the continuous drone from the pool heating and filtering unit during the day BUT that is a small price for the luxury of the pool. |

Casa de Fortuna exceeded our expectations and was excellent value for money. We especially appreciated the quiet location and the villa's close proximity to mini -supermarkets, reataurants and a bakery. The cleanliness and the level of maintenance of both the villa and heated private swimming pool were exceptional. Furnishings were comfortable and there was total silence during the night - no internal or external noise at all - a rare find. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning in 2012 to the peace, quiet and modest luxury of Casa Fortuna. |
