Villa Rioja is the ideal place to stay for all the family. Besides having it's own pool and patio garden it is surrounded by lovely beaches. It's nearest beach is Las Coloradas and is between the Papagayo and Dorada beaches, so you have plenty to choose from. All are beautiful bays.
You can walk along the shoreline from Papagayo to the Light-House 8 Km or so, with many interesting things to see.
There is a Marina, just a 10 minute stroll away, where they have many shops, restaurants, boats and a Market day every Wednesday and Saturday.
The Villa has quality furnishings, spacious rooms and fantasic decor throughout. Whether you are dining by the pool or dining inside, you will be eating in style!
The nearest shop is 100 metres which is open all day, every day. The Iberostar Papagoyo (4 star) Hotel is two minutes away where you can use their facilities, including evening entertainment.
There is plenty of parking space, including one in your own drive. On your doorstep are taxis, a local bus service that will take you all over Playa Blanca for 1 Euro and a friendly Spanish bar that offers great food. What more could you want!
|Further details outdoors|
As Villa Roija is in a quiet residential, local Spanish area, it is lovely to just lay by the pool on the sunbeds to work on your tan.
Maybe you would prefer to read a book on the shaded patio sipping Sangria. Whatever you do it will be a relaxing holiday.
The garden and pool are well maintained, as is everything here!
There is a keysafe located by the outside door and a safe inside for your passports and valubles.

The Lanzarote region
Lanzarote, the most easterly island in the Canary archipelago, is in many ways unique. Although all the islands are volcanic, it is on Lanzarote that the volcanic features are most impressive and easily approachable. It is possible to take a bus right to the very top of a volcano that, geologically speaking, has recently erupted and, an hour later, travel over low hills of volcanic ash and cinder on a camel.
Lanzarote has the most consistent climate. Since it is situated close to Africa with no high mountains, Lanzarote has more sunshine that any other of the islands.
There are plenty of places to visit.
For entertainment in the evening it has to be Rancho Texas, which has a full Western show with singing, dancing and other acts, all you can drink (anything you like), a full Barbeque and Line dancing, which is great fun. This and many other excursions can be booked locally for very little cost with different pick-up areas nearby.
Lanzarote has it all except for cold weather and we can definately boast that, this Island only has 16 days of rain a year and they are mainly short showers.
An information file on the area awaits your arrival along with a DVD on Lanzarote.
Playa Blanca is the most southerly resort on Lanzarote and has many advantages for those who are looking for Sun, Sea and Sand as well as good fish restaurants that generally host the catch of the day. From Rubicon's seafront you can see across to Fuerteventura, which is a mere 11Km by ferry. Ferries cross to the island several times a day from the main harbour.
The sea front is populated with a variety of beaches, notably Los Colorados, Playa Dorada, Playa Flamingo, Rubicon (that now has a fantastic marina) and Papagayo. Restaurants are in abundance, most of them are very good, one of the best is "Los Hervideros". Your nearest bar/cafeteria is El Pleblo and for evening dining Casa Roja is excellent! For Indian "Tandoor House" and the list goes on. All this information is in the Villa waiting for you.
We highly recommend "The Galeria Bar" for a drink. You can relax and soak up the atmosphere overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
The Bar also has all the major sports, ie., football, on a massive T.V. screen.
There is something here for everybody! Fishing, swimming, water ski-ing, boats to hire, water scooters, banana boats, glass bottom boats, submarines, parachutes towed by speedboats, horse riding, paint balling, camel rides, tennis, crazy golf, pitch & putt...
For those of you not so energetic, there are hotels with great live entertainment, quiz's, big screen TV's with sport programmes, Karaoke (if you like to sing), even bingo and much more.
Playa Blanca festival is usually early March. Each town has their festivities on different days so if you miss one you have chance to catch up with another somewhere else on the Island.

"Great property pity about managing agent"

So, having read this review, you may understand that this young Spanish woman liked the villa, but seemed not to like us! We are surprised, as the “most made” comment by previous guests at all our lovely holiday properties over the last nine years has been, “Warm welcome, friendly & helpful owners” (Looking at our visitors comments books, I checked the number of times this comment has been made, I counted 37 times!) Also there are many comments about how we “made booking process so easy”! Rather a contrast to this woman's opinion! We will just comment on a couple of her points. She left the baby's requirements to the very last minute. Imagine travelling over 2,000 miles with a 7 month old baby with little plan for sleeping or feeding arrangements? Also, why would a 7 month old baby ever be left on its own anywhere near a swimming pool? All very scary! Unfazed, we managed to rent a cot the day before, we added our own baby sheets & blankets, three towels and, on the second day, a food blender too. These things were all done at no charge from us! Even her late checkout was given free. On returning home, her exchange loss (of just €11), was paid for by us too - even though it was incurred because she chose to use our UK (£) bank, not our Irish (€)one, despite our recommendation!) The lesson? Whatever you do, you can never please everyone. - But, it won't stop us trying! Brian & Lesley. (“Warm, friendly and helpful owners!”)

"An ideal base for a relaxing holiday!"
Looking for an ideal base for a relaxing holiday? We found Villa Rioja to be a well appointed, comfortable and spotlessly clean villa. We were met upon arrival by Brian who showed us around the villa. He and Lesley had thoughtfully left us fresh fruit, wine, tea, coffee and milk – a lovely welcoming gesture!
The Marina, just a 15 minute walk away has an assortment of bars and eateries to suit all tastes and a very busy market is held there twice per week. A five minute drive gets you to the centre of Playa Blanca with its good quality restaurants, bars and shops.
We found the whole area had a very relaxed ambience. Many thanks to Brian and Lesley for their attention to detail – it was much appreciated.
Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We are again delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us. For 9 years now we have always trid to be the best at all we do. Seems our care and attention to detail is appreciated by our guests. Many of whom return every year. Brian & Lesley.

"Superb Villa, Fantastic Agents"
What a great holiday I just wished we'd booked for two weeks instead of one! I've never booked separate accommodation and flights before but Brian and Lesley made organising it all so easy. From reserving the villa 'til we sorted out flights through to organising airport transfers they were brilliant.
On arrival we were given a quick 10 minute tour of the villa and left to enjoy our holiday. Although we didn't have to contact Brian and Lesley during our stay you were left in no doubt that you could ring them with any query and they would do whatever they could to help.
We especially liked the thoughtful touches such as providing drinks, fruit and other goodies on arrival as well as providing everyday things like towels, washing up liquid, soap, coffee, tea etc. This saved us loads of weight on the baggage allowance and loads of time not having to remember it or buy it all on arrival.
The Villa itself is fabulous – no more hotels for us! I There's plenty of space, its very well appointed and very clean. We have a lively three year old so we really appreciated the things that made life easier for those with a young family such as the private pool, the well appointed kitchen, the downstairs loo, the big bedrooms, the high quality TV/DVD. There was even a buggy/stroller available to use so don't bother paying the extra baggage allowance to bring one.
The Villa is located in a quiet residential area and everything you want is within walking distance. The nearby Marina is lovely with plenty of places to eat. We particularly recommend 'La Casa Brigida' – the food was exquisite. If you don't fancy the half-hour walk to the centre of Playa Blanca then use the bus service. Two buses an hour, always on time and it costs just 1.20 per person. Finally, if you're eating in a visit to Roper's is essential. It's a long time since I've seen so much great produce, meat and fish all in one place.
Brian and Lesley really care about what they do and genuinely want you to have a fabulous holiday. Please ignore the bad review of September 2011 – it didn't put us off booking this villa and it shouldn't put you off either!
Thank you for this review guys! It is appreciated. We firmly beieve that the extra mile we always go to is what sets us apart from most others. Also living here means we are on hand if needed to assist in any way. Probably the most important thing however, is that we do not rely on others to look after this villa. We do everything ourselves, so the standard is always the highest possible. (No dusting around things!) Brian & Lesley.
