The Lanzarote region

Lanzarote is relatively small and from Playa Blanca to the top of the island takes about an hour. There are great Markets and once you have done the Market in the Marina Rubicon then try Teguise Market. There is of course Fire Mountain and some great places of interest such as the Cesar Mariguee museum and cactus garden. There are great places to eat on the Island and you might like to try fish in El Golfo, Quamada or Famara all are great. If you like to surf then try Famara beach.Lanzarote is the northern most island in the Canaries, situated off the coast of north/west Affrica. The island offers year round sunshine, with very little rain and cool breezes, that leave evenings at the ideal temperature to enjoy al-fresco dining. The white beaches of Playa Blanca & Papagayo are the finest on the island. Timanfaya National Park is 15 minutes drive from Playa Blanca along with the fantastic sunsets viewed from the restaurants at El Golfo

The Playa Blanca / Las Coloradas area

Playa Blanca is a picturesque former fishing village set to the south of the island of Lanzarote. The flourishing resort has been tastefully developed but yet retains much of its origingal charm. There are numerous beaches in this area, including Papagayo which is considered to be one of the islands finest. The villa offers unique private access to the beautiful seafront promenade that stretches for 4 miles from the pedestrianised town to the lighthouse at Pechiguera. a gentle stroll along the promenade takes you to Flamingo beach and also to the centre of Playa Blanca where you will find a vast variety of restaurants to suit every appetite. Playa Blanca is perfectly situated for some of Lanzarote's major tourist attractions, including the Timanfaya National Park and the port of Fuerteventura is just a 40 minute sail away

There are 6 beaches and all are lovely yellow sand. If you are a naturist then this is where you might like to visit. There are a number of beaches, what we call 'locals beaches' which take a little more searching. Nearest 400m.As with the other Canary Islands, Lanzarote is Volcanic in origin. Due to the recent eruptions during the 18th and 19th Centuries, many parts of Lanzarote appear to be from another world, often described as 'lunar' or 'Martian', so much so that parts of 'Planet of the Apes' were shot here.

Lanzarote airport is named Arrecife, the flight usually takes around 3.5 hours from the U.K.
Villas Camelot is approximately 30 minutes drive from the airport.
There are many car hire companies located at the airport, you can book directly on their websites, details of a few car hire companies are Cabrera Medina (www.cabreramedina.com), Direct Car (www.directcar.es) Auto reisen (www.autoreisen.es) or alternatively you can have my dad collect you from the airport to the villa.
Direct flights are available from the main flight operators such as Xcel airlines, British Airways, Thomson, First choice, Thomas Cook. The main flight day for Lanzarote is Thursday but there are also flights operate on various other days, it is best to check with your airport of departure.

“Misleading” The Casa Bonita is not in the quiet bungalow complex cul de sac of Calle de Castillo which is next to the Rubicon Marina as shown on the map but is actually on the Calle del Cercado about 2 KM away.This is a busy through road which means that traffic noise resounds throughout the property.A car is essential at this property because the immediate area is bereft of shops and restaurants or attractions.The T.V. package does not include Sky or BBC 1+2+3 programmes as claimed.It is easy for a child to get onto the road as the rear of the drive way is not as shown,the photo is of a different property. A horrible smell builds up in the bathrooms as the fittings are not properly vented.
