Home description
We are proud to be the exclusive agents for Villa Ti Amo - a very popular villa with stunning views of Souda Bay, the Akrotiri Peninsula, Aptera Castle, and The White Mountains, which are snow-capped for 6 months of the year. It is very rare to find a villa with these spectacular views combined with privacy, such tasteful and romantic furnishings, and access by foot to the excellent local tavernas, shops and beaches.
The clever design of the villa ensures that all 3 bedrooms and the main living area have a gorgeous view of the sea. None of the bedrooms share an adjoining wall which adds to the peace and privacy of the individual guests at the villa. The privacy at the villa also extends to the many exterior terraces, the pool area and garden, all of which enjoy the fabulous views. There is a choice of either sun or shade on the many different outdoor terraces and balconies at Villa Ti Amo, all of which have an ample supply of outdoor furniture. The “infinity” pool terrace has sun-loungers and umbrellas, an outdoor shower and a BBQ. The breathtaking views from Villa Ti Amo help to make it the perfect place to relax and unwind at anytime of day. The sunsets are particularly dramatic, and at night you can sit and watch the twinkling stars in the clear sky, the lights from the Akrotiri Peninsula on the opposite side of the bay, or the ferries going to and from Athens.

The Crete region
Crete has everything you that could possibly want from a holiday: soaring mountains that are snow capped from November to June, many great walking trails including Europe's deepest gorge, ancient archaeological sites and Minoan palaces, quaint villages, sparkling clear blue seas with tavernas serving freshly caught fish, golden beaches, glorious wild flowers in the Spring, and a variety of delicious foods which are all made from healthy home grown produce.
As incredible as the island is, it is the Cretan people who will make your holiday truly memorable. Descendants of the Minoan's, one of Europe's earliest civilizations, and shaped by centuries of struggle against oppression, the Cretans are as rugged as the mountains, fiercely independent but passionately friendly.
Villa Ti Amo is located in the heart of The Apokoronas Region just east of the beautiful town of Chania. With its stunning Venetian harbour, quayside bars and restaurants, what better place to relax and watch the world go by. In the narrow streets behind Chania's harbour you will find tavernas, bars, the famous covered market, and many local shops selling handicrafts, textiles, jewellery and hand made ceramics. Visit 'Leather Lane' for outstanding hand made leather bargains.
The climate of Crete is a temperate Mediterranean climate and the weather is characterized by long hot, dry summers and mild winters. The Spring can be warm and sunny during the day but still have cooler evenings and is perfect for walking, birdwatching and looking at the wild flowers. All in all Crete is absolutely perfect for your Villa holiday.
Plaka, Crete area
The main square in Plaka is only 700m from The Villa Ti Amo and is still very much the focal point of village life. There are lovely shady mulberry trees under which the locals sit to watch the world go by whilst enjoying a delicious meal or even just an ice cold frappe. Plaka was one of the original village sets for the film “Zorba the Greek” and it still has quaint whitewashed houses and narrow streets leading off from the square. The modern outskirts of the village have expanded recently as have the facilities, which now include 3 excellent tavernas, 3 well stocked mini markets, a sweet shop, and 5 cafes.
The lovely village of Almyrida is only 1.5km from Villa Ti Amo and is built around a pretty crescent shaped sandy beach, with a small fishing harbour at the eastern end. The beach is very shallow and safe, which is good news if you have children or are not a strong swimmer. Lining the beach are 4 excellent tavernas, 9 café/bars, 2 bakeries, a wonderful jewellery shop, 5 mini-markets, 3 gift shops, the Villas Crete Holidays Tourist office owned and run by Frankie Miles, and an off-license. Also in Almyrida there is a water sports centre which rents out kayaks, windsurfers and catamarans.
A few minutes by car from the villa, there are a huge variety of archaeological sites and traditional villages with wonderful tavernas. There is also an interesting selection of small craft centres and museums, including glass blowing in Kokkino Horio, lace makers in Gavalohori, and silk makers in Kalamitsi. For those of you looking for even more activity, the historic town of Chania is only 35 minutes away by car.
Cooking classes and wine tasting set at a local winery can be taken by those of you who are interested. Guided walks led by experts in mountaineering and/or flora and fauna can also be arranged. For those of you who prefer to venture out on your own, a free copy of the guide book "Crete on the Road" by Frankie Miles (as featured in the November 2008 issue of "Greece Magazine") comes with every villa. The book contains detailed directions to many well known and hidden sites, opening times and prices for all attractions, taverna recommendations, and the only existing map of the National Highway showing the exits and entrances.

Further details indoors: The English owners have created a very attractive home with many modern comforts such as a fully fitted, very well equipped kitchen which includes: a ceramic hob, a built-in oven, a microwave oven, a dishwasher and a breakfast bar; fully tiled bathrooms, one of which houses the washing machine; a TV, a DVD player, and a portable CD player in the lounge; white aluminium doors, window frames and shutters; and air conditioning units in the bedrooms. For the cooler nights at the start and end of the season, there is central heating and the a/c units also double up as heaters . The water is heated by either solar panel or a back-up immersion heater. A large of books and board games for both adults and children have been thoughtfully supplied. The furnishings in the villa are particularly pretty and romantic with a combination of natural pine and cream coloured French Provincial furniture, some of which has been delicately hand painted with floral motifs by skilled artists, wooden couches upholstered with delicate gold fabrics, and beautiful lighting which includes a gilt and glass chandelier in the lounge, and reading lamps in the bedrooms that are decorated with glass beads and mother of pearl. Many candles and bowls of potpourri are scattered around the villa, giving a wonderful aroma and completing the charming setting.
Further details outdoors: Villa Ti Amo has been built to a traditional Greek design and includes a spacious covered terrace leading off from the lounge which is kitted out with a very large white wooden dining table, benches and chairs.
There is a natural and unspoilt rocky hillside on 2 sides of the villa that is covered in bushes and trees, and an abundance of wild flowers in The Spring. The land naturally drops off at the front of the villa and pool terrace, and on the west side of the property are just 2 villas that are only partially visible as they are set on separate hillside terraces. Dotted around the property are terracotta pots that have been planted with different types of palm tree, conifers, oleander, and cacti, and the rocky bank behind the pool is covered in wild flowers and daisies.
