Chalet Blanchot is a fantastic 4 bedroom property that can accommodate 10 to 12 people, perfect for families, large groups or couples. 2 of the bedrooms have 2 single beds (that can be made up as doubles) with additional beds available if required, all the bedrooms are en-suite either with a shower/bath or shower. There is a large top floor bedroom with 4 single beds, great for a large group or family.
La Plagne is linked with Les Arcs to form The Paradiski area, which, with 425km of pistes to explore is ideal for all abilities. The area has 2 Glaciers and 70% of the skiing is above 2000m making it about as snow sure as you can get. The off-piste is well know as being some of the most extensive, most accessible and best in the world. There are also 2 awesome snow parks and a competition half pipe.
Chalet Blanchot is one of La Plagne's original chalets, which existed when La Plagne was but a mining village. Solidly built and very recently renovated inside and out, this comfortable chalet is in an ideal quiet location at the bottom of the picturesque village opposite the 1800 chairlift, which takes you up to Aime 2000 and beyond.
The south west facing terrace has great views over the Tarentaise Valley and is a sun trap. The village's free navette (bus) passes every half hour and stops 75m along from the chalet for those wishing to head directly to Plagne Centre, either to go shopping or set off skiing. We have a brand new 6 person hot tub on the terrace which catches the sun between 3pm and 6pm (weather permitting of course), perfect for an apres-ski soak :-).

About this location
The Rhône-Alpes region
Last season was our 2nd year of operation but due to the relocation from Morzine to La Plagne, it felt like a whole new and wonderful ball game. We now had the convenience of piste side and town centre location, so no more transporting guests to and from lifts/bars/restaurants on a daily basis. We also now had the benefit of high altitude, snow sure slopes with 70% of the ski area above 2000m including the amazing Bellecote Glacier offering skiing up to a whopping 3250m!
In all fairness, the move was a slight gamble, given our initial lack of familiarity with the resort and ski area but the gamble paid unquestionable dividends. We enjoyed the best snow season for more than 60 years with over 6 metres of snowfall by the end of January alone! The pistes seem in limitless supply and are extremely varied with challenging high altitude blacks through to gentle, tree lined blues down to the villages of Montalbert , Monchavin and Les Coches. We also found, to our delight, that la Plagne offers without doubt the best and most extensive off piste terrain that I, and indeed everyone who stayed with us had ever encountered. It seemed like we were discovering new, safe stashes every day throughout the season and that, coupled with fantastic sunny weather for the majority of days made it the best 5 months of skiing and boarding of our lives. The resort also links with the equally vast area of Les Arcs which can be accessed via the gargantuan double decker cable car that is the 'Vanoise Express' which was built in 2003, doubling the skiable area covered by the Paradiski lift pass.
The village of Plagne 1800, where the chalet is situated, has 3 bars and at least 4 quality restaurants, all within a few minutes stroll of the Chalet and each has its own style and character. 'La Mine', our local bar, as the name suggests, is stacked with mine themed character and even has an old mine cart track running across the floor with authentic mine carts making up the tables. Drinks are very reasonably priced for an alpine bar and they have live music and/or DJs most nights during the season. Just around the corner is the 'Bobsleigh bar' which was the main hangout for the seasonaires due to low prices and live Sky Sports. Just up the road from there is 'Mama Mia's', a quirky and very French little Pizza restaurant and bar run by the hilarious Daniel and Xavier the pizza dude. This was a popular destination for our guests on chef's day off due to the reasonable prices and vibrant atmosphere. Just opposite the chalet there are two more restaurants, 'La Loup Blanc' which is great for a beer in the sun en route back to the chalet and 'Le Petit Chaperon Rouge' (Little red riding hood), which serves excellent Savoyard cuisine, again, very popular with our guests.
Just up the road is Plagne Centre, which is the main focal point of the resort and is packed full of shops, bars and restaurants. 'Scotty's' bar is right next to the piste and is very popular with the Brits for its simple yet quality menu, live sports and live music. We often found ourselves dancing on the tables with guests and friends alike on a Wednesday afternoon after a day's riding. Our favourite bar is without doubt 'The Mouth' in Plagne Centre as the drinks are cheap, the bar staff and owners are awesome people and great fun and they are constantly putting on fun events and nights including A DJ night on a Tuesday night, which always goes off, karaoke on a Thursday and the infamous Seasonaire Awards in April. There is a bus service which runs until around 1am to ensure that everyone gets home safely after a few drinks.
There are dozens of great restaurants on the mountain including 'La Bergerie', just above Plagne Centre which is always fun and keeps the sun until late, La 'Grande Rochette', right on the Peak above Plagne Centre and with stunning 360 degree panoramic views and excellent food.
Perhaps the thing that really makes La Plagne stand out above any other French resort is the Olympic Bobsleigh track (http://www.la-plagne.com/fr/hiver/decouverte-plagne/les-la-plagne-plagne/bobsleigh-plagne.html) with is located 2 minutes down the road from the chalet and is the only one in France that is open to the public. There are 3 different options ranging from the 'Bob Raft', in which four people are sent down the track together reaching speeds of up to 80km/h. For those who seek an even bigger thrill there is the 'mono bob' in which you are sent down the track lying solo in a single man bob reaching up to 100km/h. As if this wasn't enough there is a 3rd option, the 'Taxi Bob' in which 3 of you are placed in a proper Olympic bobsleigh with a professional driver and this bad boy achieves speeds of up to 124km/h and 3gs of G-force! It really is an amazing experience and like nothing else I've ever had the pleasure of enjoying.
So come see us and experience the joys of La Plagne and Alpoholics first hand!
An Enormous and Amazingly Diverse Ski Area.
Paradiski is one of Europe's largest ski areas. Enjoy altitudes of between 1200 and 3250 metres facing Mont Blanc, with 425km of pistes to explore, ideal for all abilities. Forests, sweeping bends, high-altitude and freeriding on amazing slopes.
70% of the area is above 2000 metres, 2 equipped glaciers, Slopes are ideally orientated for great snow conditions all season.
The Paradiski Ski Area is made up of a combined total of 425km of downhill skiing, with 475 individual pistes, served by 141 ski lifts. The Paradiski Lift Pass allows you to ski or snowboard in any of the ski resorts of La Plagne, Les Arcs, Montchavin-Les Coches and Peisey-Vallandry.
La Plagne is an ideal ski holiday destination and caters for all abilities. There are wide motorway pistes, short sharp blacks and terrain that varies from glacier to powder snowfields and forest. All in all the 225km (140 miles) is the largest amount of skiing offered by one resort anywhere and the 2000m top-to-bottom vertical is pretty vast also.
Children are well catered for at La Plagne 1800, with nurseries and a ski school just a few minutes walk from the chalet, providing convenience for your ski holidays in La Plagne.
Getting to La Plagne
The quickest and cheapest way to travel to La Plagne ski resort is to first find one of the many cheap flights to Geneva or Chambery airports. The nearest airport is Chambery, at 70 miles away, Geneva airport is also close at 90 miles and Lyon is around 120 miles away. The airports have frequent bus services to Aime, from here taxis and a local bus go up to La Plagne. The Snow Train stops at Aime-La Plagne station or nearby Moutiers and Bourg St. Maurice, all within half an hour of the chalet if the roads are clear. If driving take the motorway to Albertville, then the dual carriageway N90 from Albertville to Moûtiers. Head towards Aime on the N90, then towards La Plagne Centre.
Furthermore, only La Plagne offers access to an Olympic bobsleigh run with 19 bends of pure adrenalin to be enjoyed in complete safety.
Plagne 1800 has a number of quality Savoyard restaurants and lively bars within a few minutes' walk of the chalet.
