The Calabria region
Calabria is the "toe" in the "boot" of Italy known also as Southern Italian Riviera.
It is unique combination of fabulous food and wine, 800 km of secluded beaches and charm of true Italy. This is the land that has been fought over by Saracens, Normans, Turks and Greeks and ... for the reason.
Calabria's dramatic mountainous interior combines with scenic rugged coastline and some of the most fabulous beaches you'll find anywhere.
Temperatures ranging from below zero in the mountain ski resorts in winter to more than 30 centigrades on the coast in the summer, the climate's as pleasant as its people, who are renowned for their warmth, generosity and sens of fun. Only in Calabria you can, in a single day: lounge on the deserted beach, enjoy the shopping in Italy and then refresh yourself with a spot of skiing.
And whether it is the delicate scent of acacias in the spring, the heady aroma in summer of fermenting grapes for the region's celebrated Ciro and other wines or the pungent musk of freshly ground olives in winter, there's always something seductive in the air in Calabria.
Calabria's average daytime temperature:
January 17 C
February 15 C
March 18 C
April 20 C
May 22 C
June 25 C
July 27 C
August 31 C
September 27 C
October 25 C
November 22 C
December 18 C
Perched on high slope of an enchanting promontory into the Tyrrhenian Sea in the heart of the Sant' Eufemia Gulf, Pizzo is one of the Calabria's most beautiful and best-known towns. With its thriving fishing port, maze of narrow mediaeval streets and lanes linked by tiny staircases, ancient fountains, buildings and churches and the Spuntone - a large balcony from which you can view the imposing Aragonis Castle and the sea from Lamezia to Capo Vaticano - Pizzo is immersed in history.
But it is also a vibrant and well equipped modern resort town with every facility and attraction the traveler could wish for - from water-sports through golf and specialist historical tours to an excellent range of seafood restaurants and night-life and the best ice cream in the world - Tartuffo!
Visit to Tropea and a boat trip from nearby Vibo Marina to Aeolian Islands such as Lipari, Salina and Vulcana and most renowned Stromboli is a must.
Pizzo Beach Club is a brand new 5-star resort situated on the shores of the Tyrrhenian Sea. Golden sands of the resort beach with complimentary sun beds and sun umbrellas for guests, warm sea with pleasant waves, spectacular mountains and Pizzo views... All of this could justify spending all the time on the beach but resort has much more to offer: two spacious swimming pools, football pitch, tennis courts, gym, restaurant and landscaped gardens.

The place offers great conditions to have real rest in beautiful and tranquil surrounding. The apartments are fully and luxuriously equipped, comfortable even for two generation family stay, great both for elders and children. The property sinks in a garden with millions of colorful flowers and picturesque trees. Two large swimming pools, and playground were children's favorites. The very short walk to the beach through pine forest, full of aroma therapy scents in the air is an absolute pleasure. Spacy, empty beaches, crystal clear and warm see water for those who prefer to stay closer to the nature. Just all what is needed for perfect, peaceful holidays in a paradise like surrounding.

"Great apartment, clean, modern and very well equipped"
We have just returned from a lovely, relaxing holiday in Green Bay, Pizzo Beach. The whole booking process was very smooth, Jaroslaw was very helpful and answered our questions promptly. We were met at the apartment by the property manager Paul (Irish and very charming) who took us through all the necessary info, gave us tips where to shop etc., and was always available at the end of the phone if you needed any other information. The apartment was perfect for us, clean, modern and fully equipped with everything we needed. The free wifi was a huge plus and to be able to sit outside on the terrace and eat or just to have a glass of wine was very relaxing. Pizzo Beach Club itself is lovely, very well maintained and safe. The pools and facilities are excellent and the walk through the pine trees to the beach was very relaxing. The beach is unspoilt, lovely and quiet when we were there (it was very early in the season), just what we needed and the free sun loungers and umbrellas were a bonus. A car is advisable to make the most of the area and to visit the lovely old towns of Pizzo, Tropea, Vibo etc. We took the train to Messina in Sicily one day to see an old friend. The train and hydrofoil accross the Straits of Messina were very cheap. It's a very do-able day trip, the train took about an hour from Vibo/Pizzo station and the hydrofoil about 20 minutes. You can also travel further into Sicily if you make an early enough start. We also visited some lovely old hill towns and the National Park and one day drove accross to the other coast and visited some very interesting places. There was La Castella, an old castle in the sea linked by a causeway, and La Colonella, an archeaological site being excavated (Temple of the Goddess Hera ) which had a brand new museum (closed when we went, so didn't get to see it) and also a lovely simple old church tucked away. It was not far from the old town of Crotone. It looked like they were getting ready for one of their festivals which would have been nice to see. We ate out some of the time (impossible not to in Italy, and who can resist the icecream!) but it was also nice to come back to a comfortable apartment and cook simple fresh food with a nice glass or two of the local wine (delicious and cheap) All in all a very relaxing holiday in an unspoilt part of Italy and I'm sure we'll be returning.
Thank you for your review - we are making efforts to keep apartment clean, modern and very well equipped and we are very happy that this is appreciated!

"Great Apartment in PIzzo"
7 adults stayed in these two apartments at Pizzo Beach Club the first week of June 2012. The apartments were spacious and very comfortable. They also had wi-fi which was a plus. Pizzo beach club itself was very nice! The pool was great and the beach was beautiful. Each was just a short walk from the units. It was great having both apartments side by side and there was a parking spot right in front of the units. The kitchen was supplied with all the necessities as well. Jaroslaw was easy to contact and book through and Paul (the property manager) was easy to get a hold of. Upon arriving there was a bottle of wine and fresh loaf of bread at each apartment! I HIGHLY recommend staying at these apartments, especially for large families and families with children
