The Fife region
The Kingdom of Fife has some of the most picturesque towns and villages on the East Coast. East Fife offers a great number of attractions and facilities for visitors of all ages. The East Neuk (including Pittenweem, St Monans, Anstruther and Crail) is steeped in history. Pittenweem is about15 minutes from St Andrews. The architecture of the East Neuk is quite distinctive. The attractive red pantiled roofs and crow-stepped gables of the Neuk are a legacy of historic trading with Belgium and the Netherlands.
The East Neuk has a long and colourful history of fishing. The Scottish Fisheries Museum in Anstruther provides a fascinating picture of this history for children (and adults). There are a number of National Trust and other castles and houses (e.g., Kellie Castle, Hill of Tarvit) open to the public during the summer season. The Fife Coastal Walk round the East Neuk is a delight with wonderful views of the sea. A few minutes' walk from Pittenweem on the Coastal Path lies the St Monans Windmill. The ferry trip over to the May Isle on the May Princess is a wonderful experience. A visit to the the Isle of May can be a quite magical experience. Catch the ferry from Anstruther.

The East Neuk has numerous beautiful stretches of beach ranging from the golden sands of Elie to the rock pools of Crail. Elie has two blue flag beaches, one of which stretches along the coast towards Earlsferry. Elie also has a well equipped water-sports centre.

"Quirky, cosy, well appointed cottage by the sea."
Very clean, cosy cottage with everything we needed. Lovely villages nearby and the Fisheries museum at Anstruther highly recommended. The kids enjoyed having a single room to themselves, and the cottage is filled with covatable furniture and ornaments. Kitchen well equipped.

"Lovely quirky cottage"
Very comfortable and beautifully decorated cottage with everything we needed for our stay. A bonus was the lovely sheltered courtyard garden. Very close to the picturesque harbour area and a few minutes walk from all the local amenities. Ideally located for exploring the East Neuk and St Andrews. Great for walking, golfing, photography, golf or just relaxing. Plenty of good restaurants close by too.

"Sea Glint Pittenweem"
Our stay was most enjoyable in this wonderful part of Fife. The house has been refurbished to a very high standard with all modern amenities. We would have no hesitation in recommending this property to anyone interested in staying in the east Neuk of Fife. The location is ideal for walks along the coastal trail and the scenery is for ever changing with the boat traffic in the Firth.
Thanks for your email, Jimmy, explaining you accidentally hit 2 rather than 5 stars for key pickup/access to the property. We're very pleased you had no problems accessing the cottage. Again, thanks for your kind review and we're delighted the two of you had such a lovely time. Best wishes to you both.

"Lovely, welcoming, cosy cottage by the sea."
My toddler son and I had a wonderful stay at Sea Glint. The cottage is so comfortable and really nicely furnished; modern but not bland. Everything you need for your stay is here and it's in a great location right at the harbour. Kids will love the quirky layout of the cottage and adults will enjoy chilling out here. The weather was terrible when we stayed, but going out for wet and windy walks was somehow tolerable knowing we were coming back to the cottage!

"Cosy and invigorating at the same time"
We're fortunate to have stayed in lots of self-catering cottages over the years, but we never return to the same place twice; probably because we always like to discover new places. Well, Sea Glint is an exception: we returned there for the 2nd time to welcome in 2014 ... and we certainly weren't disappointed. In the heart of winter when the days are so short and the windy nippy, like in the glory of long June evenings, Sea Glint was a delight. It's cosy, well appointed, and with a tasteful decor. We love it and we absolutely love Pittenweem. Go if you get the chance. If you like the sea in all weathers, invigoratingly windy as it was for us this time, or glittering in the sun, you'll enjoy this place!

"East Neuk Paradise Nest"
Sea Glint is a beautiful home nestled behind the sea front houses along Pittenweem Harbor. Pittenweem itself is the loveliest of the fishing villages on this part of the coast and an excellent place to begin walks on the coastal path toward Anstruther or St. Monans. The town is compact but complex and offers very fine if modest food at the pub, cafes, and fish and chops shop. Access to the sea and the sea path is outstanding. Sea Glint is a marvelous house with a distinctively nautical feel and it is a sort of microcosm of the town with its intricate structure and its high lofted rooms rising from the courtyard. It is delightfully private, quiet, and aesthetically pleasing at every turn. The furniture, kitchen ware, appliances, bathrooms, as well as all the other accoutrements, are plentiful, in excellent repair, and well-suited for holiday visits. This is an extraordinarily comfortable and interesting house. If I had a home in Scotland I would want this one. We hope to return. Absolutely wonderful.
