About this location
The Perth and Kinross region
We are located in the beautiful and unspoilt glen of Rannoch in Highland Perthshire close to the Cairngorm National Park. The nearest village is Kinloch Rannoch where there are hotels with restaurants, a general store and an outdoor activities centre.
Loch Rannoch dominates the glen and is about 10 miles long and 500 feet deep. Who knows, there may be a monster lurking down there! The area is steeped in history and several clans were represented in the glen. The chiefs of Clan Donnaichadh, which includes the names Robertson, Duncan and Reid amongst others, owned Dunalastair up until the 19th century and several are buried on the estate.
Not far away is Blair Castle, home to the Dukes of Atholl for centuries with their private army, the Atholl Highlanders, who still exist in ceremonial form. Castle Menzies is located about 20 minutes away at Weem near Aberfeldy. There are distilleries to visit including Aberfeldy, Edradour and Blair Atholl.
Great country for hill or forest walking, trout fishing is available on Dunalastair and salmon fishing can be rented on the Tay.
There is pony trekking on Atholl Estates, white water rafting and bunjee jumping through Nae Limits, cycle hire from several local cycle businesses, glorious private gardens to visit in the area, the wonderful Pitlochry Festival Theatre which has great productions.

We are saddened by the review you have given our pretty Tuim Cottage. Although the flies and mobile signals are outwith our control (there is Vodafone and wifi there), we have noted your other comments and thank you for taking the time to highlight them. It was lovely to meet you both..and the dog and hopefully, since you said you were looking for something long-term in this beautiful area, you will find that perfect place.
